  1. Hope it won't go downhill, but that's my personal thoughts:

I basically agree with what Hellion and Number Girl said, about all this so called VK. It's now focused rather on preety-boy looks instead of music and talent. And this is just idiotic.

I got first time into Japanese music in 2008. At first I heard some random alternative rock songs, but later I've discovered Dir en Grey, Despa and Girugamesh. I was glad to find some new good music, and wanted to explore more of it. And while I was doing this that I've noticed that there's something wrong. Almost all other bands that I saw all sound and look the same - extremely repetitive! Even the VK vocalists always sound like women giving a birth or sth like that >:/ And yeah, not to mention the reterdness level of the most of fandom: the fangirls who all what they can say is that "(insert_member_nickname) is so hot/sexy/kawaii". It just makes ppl do a facepalm.

I've been listening to visual kei for about one year, but it was before I discovered bands like Maximum the Hormone, Anthem, The Mad Capsule Markets. It's so damn riddiculous that these stupid fangirls don't like them because they "aren't kawaii desu" for them. As if all Japanese music artists ned to act feminine in orded to get attention. Music is not about looks!

I also wonder why no one ever mentioned the fact that majority of Japanese ppl does NOT listen to visual kei, they'd rather listen to bands like for example One Ok Rock or old some music that they listened, when they were young. Personally I think that Visual Kei bands are just overrated and overrepresented on the Internet in a very stupid way. And this is just annoying! Type in google search "japanese rock bands". A huge part of results are guys with either boybandish looks or tones of make-up splashed around their faces, that most of people in Japan don't even listen to. After that ppl have negative mind about whole Japanese music scene. That simply irritates me because there are amount of good talented Japanese artists who no matter how unpopular overseas they are, they deserve to be heard. But due to such a pushing of all these VK by it's retarded fangirls, they lose their chance to get attention.

I'm sorry if this post was way too long, but the reasons which I gave is why I consider all these neo-VK bands who are getting fans because of looks, as a disgrace for Japanese music. I don't meant all but, at least most of it, granted that I really like X Japan and Despa. That was my personal opinion which many other ppl share.

  2. Good, thread! I also enjoy hearing bass solos made by bands.

I'm getting pumped up with Maximum the Hormone's Uehara Futoshi song (9th track on Rokkinpo Goroshi) Also, maybe it's not a solo, I just get addicted to "Hab'it" by Mad Capsule Markets! The bass slapping sounds extremely awesome over there! :D

I'll be sure to edit my post, when I'll remind myself sth else.

  3. Almost forgotten about the release, but yup, time to do it.

Rosario - The beginning sounds like Different Sense. Mao does his clean singing alwaysconstantly good, but the screams and growls pumped me the heck out! And overall perfect song. 8/10

Suicidal Rock City - While Rosario sounded like Different Sense, this one sounds like Vortex. Which is really not bad, since Sadie sometimes likes to experiment. The guitar riffs are so phat here. And I like the rapping, which is unusual for VK. And the chrus sounds kinda... funky. the bass slapping before the final chorus part just emphasizes the song's awesomeness. 10/10

Break the Silence - The beginning sounds like old-school Linkin Park. Also we can get it more if we mix it with Bugaboo. Mao is doing really good job. Again this is pure greatness! 9/10

Overall, this is such a fantastic single. One of their best! Already gives me a good expectations for the incoming album! Fenomenal work, サディ! 9/10

  4. Hope, I'm not posting this out of topic but, what do you guys think about promoting the Indie bands on MH by making threads about them, posting thoughts and rewievs and something like that? There might be a lot of ppl interested in it, but some disadvantage is that possibly the forum could burst at the seams. But overall, do you think it's a good idea?

  5. Meh, lost interest in these guys since they turned into a pop boyband.

They used to be so freaking amazing, i mean going back and looking at

their older stuff, its shocking to see how bad they have become.

yeah, i've become a hardcore girugamesh fan since early 2005. back in those days, they were like everything to me. i was very excited looking forward to their new releases every time they announced. however, my first disappointment was the album MUSIC. it's good that they didn't keep that electronic/techno sound although ALIVE b-side sounded like a leftover track from the album. and i was very impressed with all the stuff they released in 2009 including the album NOW (suiren has become my all time fav song of their new sound since then.).

i dont want to mention to their music since 2010. it sounds like another different band. i was very in shock after hearing COLOR. (miage te kimi no hitomi ni wa aoi sora WTF) that's why i have high expectations on this 13 sign. please come back girugamesh. T_T

That's right dude! Though I only don't agree about the Music album. Overall it was good, it managed to keep Girugamesh awesomeness, just with different style :) Now - ah, not that much. It wasn't bad but I think that with NOW, that's when they started to lose their heads.

Overall, these guys used to be an extremely briliant band during the 2000s. And until I saw the Color PV prewiev I was in such a shock too. It just was a total joke! After that I just kept miserably watching one of my favourite bands collapsing like this. The number 13 might give some hope coz it somehow conjoins with 13 Reborn, but meh... I lost interest in them, however I'm gonna see what they will do at this 23rd.

  6. The+Mad+Capsule+Markets.jpg

I've started to listening to these guys some month ago. I really like their music. Especially what I like about them is their style which is a combination of punk, rap and electronics. My favourite album of theirs is "4 Plugs". I sometimes feel as if they were Maximum the Hormone of the 90s. Too bad they are on hiatus now, but I hope that they will finally return.

Now share your opinion about the band :)

  7. Who hadn't heard about these guys? I always planned to start listening to them, but just dunno which album should I check out first :) I've heard that Thudner in the East was their best.

  8. Damn, what a perfect thread. I think I'll put a lot of it:

Limp Bizkit (keep on rollin baby :D )

    AC/DC

Nirvana, especially Teritoriall Pissings and Smells Like Teen spirit

Korn (Take a Look In The Mirror album, the most)

    Drowning Pool

    Rage Against The Machine

    Dir en Grey:

    -entire Six Ugly

-from old: Schwien の椅子, 羅刹国, Hydra

-later: New Age Culture, Jesus Christ R'n'R, Zombiod, IIID Empire, Mercilles Cult

-more later: Vinushka, Lie Buried With Vengeance, Clever Sleazoid, Diabolos

    Sex Machineguns (all albums)

Anthem (Domestic Booty album, and from others: Finger's On The Trigger, Bound to Break, Headstrong, Onslaught, The Juggler)

Maximum the Hormone (I think, that everything of them rocks me out)

    Monkey Insane (Taiwanese rapcore)

I'm also getting into some Japanese bands like:

    Gargoyle (初めての殺意, 完全な毒を要求する, Destroy, 破裂願望)

    The Mad Capsule Markets

  9. I barely know personally anyone who listens to Japanese music, though I've found through Internet a lot of people who listen to Jrock. I've shown once to one of my friends MTH's Buikikaesu album and he said that he really likes it. Nowadays I'm showing to my family and friends some Japanese heavy metal songs and videos, so I don't need to be embarassed with that at all :P

  10. I definetly love cats, here's mine. Her name's Saszka. I keep her in my home since 2001, perhaps :) Hope it's visible. Who wouldn't think that lazy, sleepy cats are so cute

    scaled.php?server=839&filename=20101015w.jpg&res=medium

But overall I have a lot of favourite animals mostly the wild ones. These are raccoons, pandas, foxes, especially them, you can often recognise me at several portals. I use there lot of happy, sleepy foxies at my profile pics :D Yeah, I know that wild animals aren't pets, so hope it's not an offtop

  11. Ok guys, now it's my turn :) I'm not so good at writing the reviews, but as a huge Dir En Grey fan, I'll try to do my best. During the writing I'm actually listening to the album. Anyway It's been 3 years since Uroboros, so what Diru will suprise me this time? Let's play it, shall we? :) *plays*

狂骨の鳴り - Fantastic opening track! It starts of with some piano chords, but gets good when the sound that we remember from the sample kicks in. It partly reminds me of some Modern Warfare 2 soundtrack, wish I'd think about the name lol. Further in the background one can hear the Kyo's (?) crazy screams, which let me know how badass the album gonna be  9/10

The Blossoming Belzebub - A proggy track. It leads with the first guitar riffs, which make me feel like first digging into the vibes of the album. It contains slow Kyo's melodic singins which makes me think what should I expected. When it gets to the end, the song turns out to be sth like a... warm up. 9/10

Different Sense - The drums at the beggining along with Kyo's screams sound just epic. I just was running through my home and insanely headbanging  The chorus part brings some calmer moods especially before the end. And I like the sound of guitars at this end. 10/10

Amon - Again all what I expect from Diru! The most phat thing about this song is the bass :D And like in DS I went crazy during the past paced parts and rested a bit during the slow paced ones. Once again, it's awesome :D 10/10

「欲巣にDREAMBOX」あるいは成熟の理念と冷たい雨 - Whoa, such a long title! But let's get back to the song, the beginning sounds very climatic, kicks ass with it's blend of melody and hard sound. The middle part of the song was the shit!!!! :rawk: And I've got again dizziness after headbanging. And as many ppl said it's one of the songs that stands out. Hell yeah, it DOES!!! 10/10

獣慾 - Holy shit, this greatness seems to never end! Can't think of any disadvantages of the album so I'll propably keep giving high rants  10/10

滴る朦朧 - It begins with a proggy guitar intro. Kyo's singing variety presents itself great as always! The ending gets slow-paced so I'm probably going to hear a calmer song. 10/10

Lotus - We all already know it from the single. But I have to say this, I like everything about this song! The beginning, the verses and the chorus are all sounding great! And the ending goes quietly, but maybe it's a prepare for the next hard track. 10/10

Diabolos - And this is the Vinushka of the album. The things that the song shares is the structure. Dark vibed beginning of the song and the progressive heavy going guitars are already saying that I'm gonna expect sth awesome, epsecially when the Kyo's growls are heading in. And it gets really fired up! After it returns to the mellow sound, that slowly turns into heavy one again. I think it gonna stuck in my head for a long time. 10/10

    - It again has climatic start with phat guitars. Like in Amon the bass guitar is my favourite part, as if Toshiya learned it from Fieldy. It has a bit less heavier sound, but who cares?! It rock the hell out of me :D 10/10

Decayed Crow - The scream and drumming are here the best part. And again I jumped away from the desk and started intense headbanging again! And I needed to take a bit break, because I felt my head spinning  Anyway this is the most outstanding too! 10/10

激しさと、この胸の中で絡み付いた灼熱の闇 - The second long-ass title, lol, but the astonishment dates back to the last year when the single came out. When I gave it a shot I felt that the future album will have amout of madness :D And I know that it has! 10/10

Vanitas - A ballad. It sounds really beautiful, especially when you want to rest after the heaviness. The beginning parts remind me of Zakuro and Kasumi. When the guitars comes in it gives me the all the feeling that I expect from Diru's ballads. Too bad that they did made just one on the album. Anyway it sound very good. 10/10

流転の塔 - And finally I get to the ending track. The beggining part awakes some alternative metal sound to me (and I really like this genre). As for the last song on album it isn't very usual for DeG, but when the chorus comes makes it sound more correct. It also has Vinushka-like sturcture that will probably become a recignition part of Diru. Overall, this one sounds good too. 10/10

There are 2 bonus tracks: 羅刹国 and Amon (symphonic album). The first one is a remake of the 11th song from Macabre, I would be very unusual back in their Visual Kei times. The second one is Dimmu Borgir-like version of Amon. Can't decice whether this or original version is better.

Overall, I think that this album is an absolute masterpiece. I'm gonna say like many people that the metal vibes suprised me a lot. As I said many times before, Dir en Grey has always presented sth good to me. Guys seem to try to found a new metal genre and they're heading on very close. Though I'd want to hear some songs like from Vulgar or WtD. Or Six Ugly, which is my most favourite release that Diru ever made. But as for the album, I'm gonna say: it WAS worth to wait for it. Fenomenal work, Dir en Grey! 10/10

  12. They're heading to Poland on 20th August, hope I still have a chance to get the ticket. I've got DSS today but soon I'm going on holiday so I'll give it a listen (yeah, since I've seen how good reviews did it recieved :D )
