  1. Wow, I really need to check out more of their material. First album I heard by them was Black Empire. They really impressed me with the first listen I gave them. Naturally I agree with the consensus that they are awesome.

If you're interested, definetly give a shot to Immortal, Domestic Booty, Tightrope and Bound to Break, thank me later :) But anyway, all of thier albums are great.

  2. The next album after Gold Cobra, so far that's an assumption, but if it's already planned, I would expect any more exact news at the earliest around last quarter of the following year. As for the raw material u mean the recordings form 3 Dollar Bill or Mental Aquaducts? John Otto excelled there a lot, that's what caught my attention the most :)

I'd agree about them haven't been heard enough these times, I think that's could be because the style isn't now popular like in 2000-2003. However I've heard them this year on a rock radio channel about nine times, where the speaker always mentioned comeback of Limp Bizkit. Like you, still think that they can make another really outstanding album too.

That news with colaboration with Lou Reed, hmmmm.... haven't heard this rumor it till now

  3. btw that picture is old, Borland has been reuniting again with them for Gold Cobra D;

and gold cobra is so Limp Bizkit if you know what i mean LOLOL

I think I can know :) Gold Cobra has a lot elements bringing the vibe from their past albums like Significant Other and mixing it up in really good way, since there always was a diversity between each album. As for Results May Vary, I also wasn't a big fan originally, however after a few listenings it grew on me. $3 Bill grungy sound was even at some aspects brought back at The Unquestionable Truth.

I will agree a lot about Fred Durst having high crowd contacting skills, since he entered into communication with crowd in Szczenin a lot. Surely, not only there but overall he was really impressed with the local moshpit madness  If it's about his voice, I really wouldn't say, he sounds any bad, just sometimes kinda "hardcore punk-ish", but overall I've always loved how he showed his craziness like in "Leech" or "Show Me What You Got" :)

Anyway, often keep looking for some news about them but like with Maximum the Hormone, so far there aren't any yet, because I've somewhere red that they have in plans make next album, so I'd be already interested what sound would they show that time :)

Limp Bizkit is an American rapcore/nu metal band from Jacksonville, Florida. The band’s line-up consists of Fred Durst (lead vocals), Wes Borland (guitar), Sam Rivers (bass), John Otto (drums) and DJ Lethal. Limp Bizkit has been nominated for three Grammy Awards and have won several other major awards. The band has sold an estimated 35 million albums worldwide.

Formed in 1994, the band achieved mainstream success with their second studio album, Significant Other, released in 1999. Their third studio album, Chocolate Starfish and the Hot Dog Flavored Water, released in 2000, continued the band’s success. The album sold 1.05 million copies in its first week, making it the fastest-selling rock album ever, breaking the record held for 7 years by Pearl Jam’s Vs.

Mike Smith was brought in as a replacement guitarist, following the departure of Wes Borland in 2001, for the fourth studio album, Results May Vary, released in 2003. Borland rejoined the band in 2004 for the release of an EP, The Unquestionable Truth (Part 1) but departed again. He rejoined the band in February 2009. With Borland, Limp Bizkit recorded their first full length album with their original line-up in ten years, Gold Cobra.

Since everybody is making threads about their all the time favourite bands, than hey, why shall I not do the same?

I've been Limp Bizkit fan since around 2006. And attended at their live in Szczecin Rock Festival 2009 as one of my most unforgettable life moments and official return of them. Overall I think that DJ Lethal and Wes are in this band are the most badass. Gold Cobra album as a comeback was really good, however Chocolate Starfish will be always for me noted as thier biggest masterpiece, can't really decide which is my 2nd favourite though lol. Anyway, does anyone there listens to Limp Bizkit? If yes share your thoughts :)

  5. Just played through the story of AC: Revelations and it's not as good as 2 and Brotherhood I think. The ending left me satisfied though ( Not nearly as mind blowing as AC2's ending was back in the day. That left me numb, baffled and genuinely scared for at least a day )

The same here, I'm already really close to the finish (at the 6th sequence block).

  6. I learn words from song titles all the time! I also look at the grammar in song lyrics and harass my Japanese teachers about what it means :D

That's what my course friend does a lot of times. He asks about the "double words" that he heard in anime series. During the break, I often approach to the white board, draw random Kanji characters that I've seen latest time and ask the teacher what do they mean. Also each time when we have a new grammatical form to learn, he sometimes shows us slang version of it.

Kanji is also really interesting for me (know about 700 right now :D ) Just to ask, do you know what's the difference between 花 and 華? Because the Kanji for it have similar but different meanings, though are red the same way. Oh and just small correction, 肉便器 I think it should be "nikubenki", but that's in passing.

Back to the topic I've just reminded more examples:

    奪う [ubau] - snatch away

    理想 [risou] - ideal

    幻想 [gensou] - illusions

町/街 [machi] - city. I've known this word before, but like with "hana" these two Kanji don't have exactly the same meanings. Good that in IME Input System there are some explaining adnotations added :)

  7. Does anyohe here while listening to Japanese music tries to understand the lyrics, what do they say? I know not everyone over there learns Japanese with such a passion like I have, but I'm sure you usually understand what are lyrics saying. Also if you search for the lyrics you definetly understand most of it but not all words so you search for them in dictionary, and later remember them. That's what I'm mostly doing when I listen to for example Dir en Grey, it helps me a lot to expand the vocabulary and get to know with a lot of new Japanese phrases. Here are some examples that I've learned and can remind myself for right now:

    溢れる [afureru] - to flow

    刃 [yaiba] - blade

    痺れる [shibireru] - paralyze

適う [kanau] - to come true

    怪しい [ayashii] - suspicious

    永遠 [eien] - eternity

Now you give at least 2 or 3 examples. Also the song titles are not required.

  8. My most favourite albums are Domestic Booty, Immortal, No Smoke Without Fire and Tightrope. I think the same as you, that Anthem never released any album that I don't like :) Especially their newest one is a total masterpiece.

Eizo is one of my favourite singers. However, the era with Yukio Morikawa (1988-1992) was definetly great as well. Also, the Heavy Metal Anthem CD (2000) with Graham Bonnet is very interesting too.

  9. artist_7647_5226.jpg

Anthem is a legendary Japanese heavy metal band founded in Tokyo during 1981 as a quartet of singer Toshihito Maeda, guitarist Akifumi Koyanagi, bass player (Naoto Shibata) ("Ski") and drummer Takamasa Ohuchi. Koyanagi left in late 1983 to be replaced by Hiroya Fukada. In December 1984 vocalist Toshihito Maeda also left and Anthem drafted (Eizo Sakamoto) for their debut eponymous album issued in July 1985 by Nexus and licensed to Europe via Roadrunner Records. Their first release was the self-titled "Anthem" album, featuring classics songs like 'Wild Anthem' and 'Warning Action'. The next release, "Tightrope" showcased a more catchy, melodic sound with an improved vocal perfomance by Eizo. "Bound to Break" was to be the last album featuring Eizo Sakamoto for nearly two decades, and was by far his most impressive vocal performance to that point. The album was full of classics (Empty Eyes, Bound to Break, Soldiers) and introduced the band's long-time world-famous Producer, Chris Tsangarides (Perhaps best known for producing Judas Priest's classic 1990 album, 'Painkiller'). With the departure of Eizo in 1988, Naoto recruited Yukio Morikawa to the band's vocal position.

With Yukio came the album Gypsy Ways, considered the band's most enduringly popular album. the voice of Yukio made the band a great success at that time, and he was similar in style, vocal range and ability to Graham Bonnet. In 1989, the album "Hunting Time" was released, in which the song "The Juggler" was used as a PV. In the beginning of 90's Anthem dealt with another departure, this time Hiroya Fukuda (guitar) left and was replaced by Hideaki 'Shadow Walker' Nakama which recorded the album "No Smoke Without Fire", this time without the band's staple Producer / Engineer Tsangarides. Hideaki left the band after recording just the one album and the search for a new guitarist began. After many auditions the young Akio Shimizu joined the band. In 1992, the band release "Domestic Booty", one of their best albums, with amazing and technical songs (courtesy of Akio): Venom Strike, Renegade, and The Dice of No Mercy. Unfortunately, classic-style Heavy Metal was out of fashion in the early 90's, and with the explosion of Grunge in the U.S. and the Visual Kei movement in Japanese music, Naoto decided to put an end to the band. The members of Anthem followed the album's release with a very big tour covering many cities of Japan and finally they released the VHS/CD "Last Anthem - Live" recorded at Nissin Power Station, which was to be the band's last show for nearly eight years.

After the long hiatus, Anthem returned in 2000, with the album "Heavy Metal Anthem" which featured the vocalist Graham Bonnet (from Rainbow), the album is entirely composed by classic band songs rearranged to English. The lineup on HMA was: Graham Bonnet (vocals), Naoto Shibata (bass), Akio Shimizu (guitar) and Takamasa Oouchi (drums).

Later, Hirotsugu Homma (who played together briefly with Shibata in Loudness) replaced Takamasa on the drums and Eizo returned to the vocals. In 2001 they released Seven Hills, showcasing an entirely new musical direction for the band, although still firmly rooted in 80's Heavy Metal. In 2002 came "Overload", which is considered by most critics to be much more agressive than Seven Hills. In 2003 the band recorded "Live Melt Down" in Citta Club Kawazaki, with a setlist full of classics and an amazing perfomance by Eizo. 2004 the band release the single "Onslaught" followed by the album "Eternal Warrior" following the sound direction of Overload. In 2005, Anthem celebrates the 20th Year Anniversary with a amazing tour where all the member of the band since 1985 played the band songs in their respective formations. At the final show of this tour was filmed the DVD "20th Anniversary Tour" (again at Club Citta in Kawazaki).

In 2006 Anthem released "Immortal", followed by the single and PV of "Immortal Bind". The most recent output has seen Anthem push even further into the Power Metal-tinged style showcased on 'Domestic Booty' and 'Eternal Warrior' with 2008's "Black Empire". A PV of 'Heat of the Night' was released shortly after the album hit in November, '08 and has thus far garnered even more positive critical reviews than "Immortal".

    Current Members:

    Vocals - Eizo Sakamoto (坂本英三)

Electric guitar - Akio Shimizu (清水 昭男)

Bass guitar - Naoto Shibata (柴田 直人)

Drums - Hirotsugu Homma (本間 大嗣)

    1986 - Tightrope

    1987 - Bound to Break

    1988 - Gypsy Ways

    1989 - Hunting Time

1990 - No Smoke Without Fire

    1992 - Domestic Booty

    2000 - Heavy Metal Anthem

    2001 - Seven Hills

Thread would have been probably earlier made by Ronluna or Number Girl. Anyway, they're really one of my most favourite Japanese metal bands all the time. I love all of their albums, being a fan of them already one year :D Post your thoughts about the band.

  10. Found this thread accidentally and must say, that it describes at some parts the truth IMHO, because "good vocals in visual kei" is now virtually very close to an oxymoron. They always sound annoyingly whiny -_- Here are some examples:

    - all of Undercore and oshare kei

    - Otogi (Awoi) - granted that they have good music (guitars and drums), but the vocals are just awkward, the main reason why I couldn't get into them.

    - Tatsurou (Mucc) - Just NO!!! He sounds really gross for me! The basic reason why I'm not into this band. I remebmer giving a shot some of their albums, coz I've read on the net how good they are. Maybe he didn't sound always bad, but for example, when I hear the Libra chrous I imeddiatly want to puke.

Also even if I enjoy Sadie's music, Mao's vocals sometimes annoy me too.

Overall I think that for me that's another good reason to be glad moving into non-VK indies and other Japanese music.

You have to be fucking trolling.

    Hizumi? Tatsurou?

    WTF.

If you consider them bad....god knows what you think of obscure vocalists like Maria, or relatively unkown indie bands...

*sigh* No offence, but I think that you need to correct your glasses! I just dislike Mucc's vocals because it sound too whiney for me, not a big matter. But tell me where did I say anything bad about Hizumi?! I really like him, he IS a good singer and I consider him as one of exceptions in VK. Besides I haven't posted any single word that insults the fanbases.

And FYI I'm not listening to these Indies you mentioned. Seriously, that's my opinion, dude. Deal with it.

  11. I also have in plans going to Japan at June/July 2012. It's organized by a Japanese language school in Warsaw, mostly it's a two week trip for students. As for the payment term I need to bring there 3000 zł (around $9818 in recount) until the half of January. So I keep the hope that it gonna all achieve.

I'm going to visit Tokyo and Shizuoka. I've been at the conversation week ago and I received most of the detalis. I'll have to prepare a short presentation about my country, as well the organisators mentioned that I'll be with other students taking part in a local dance festival. Mostly this will be a trip when I'll attend to local Japanese course where I'll be able to write and pass JLPT at N3 level.

I'll be staying at Japanese family's home, also there's going to be several free times to visit the towns.

Anyway, Aion I hope that you will have a good time in Japan.

  12. Found this thread accidentally and must say, that it describes at some parts the truth IMHO, because "good vocals in visual kei" is now virtually very close to an oxymoron. They always sound annoyingly whiny -_- Here are some examples:

    - all of Under Code and oshare kei

    - Otogi (Awoi) - granted that they have good music (guitars and drums), but the vocals are just awkward, the main reason why I couldn't get into them.

    - Tatsurou (Mucc) - Just NO!!! He sounds really gross for me! The basic reason why I'm not into this band. 13. The tours are now the thing that I find out about them the most right now. Perhaps they're working on the new album but the progress is kinda slow, but may suprisingly increase. I'd expect it about winter/spring breaktrough 2012 if not later. Besides I've seen them live in Hamburg at June. No need to say how worth it was to take a 1000 km bus ride!

Back to the topic: my all the time favourite album of theirs is Buikikaesu. Rokkinpo Goroshi is next. Generally I think I don't have any release of them, that I don't like. Each one of them is awesome, even at it's own way :D

  14. I'm familiar with The Stalin, they're great :)

Tokage, if Mad Caps' 4 Plugs is more influenced with nu metal, do u know any Japanese bands who play this genre? It's one of my favourite ones. If yes then can you recommend me some of them to check out. Bedises I'll check all the info about punk stuff you showed right there.

  15. No thread yet? Share your thoughts about the game.

I've been playing CoD series since the first part came out. It's already the 8th one, though Modern Warfare is for me like separate series. I think thet generally MW3 game was really good as a continuation of MW2. I liked the diversity of locations and how the fabular events were made, since that was creating the vibe of the series.

The only thing I didn't like is that it was quite short, took me about 7 hours to complete it.

  16. the reality is music had always a connection with looks.

even bands that say they don't care about looks, have a certain type of look you like and want to follow.

try to turn Maximum the Hormone etc to look visual and see how many followers they will loose just because they changed look.(not music)

or any metal band for example,or pop.

most of guys actually and people would NOT listen to a band ,no matter how awesome the music is, just because they have visual looks.

Well, I can agree with u on this one. In Visual Kei extreme metal did exist (no idea wheter there still is), mostly in the early 1990s with bands like Aion or Rosenfeld. For me it doesn't so much matter how do the bands look, as long as they've got good music.

If you talk about imagining MTH or other metal or even pop group had turned into visual looks, I don't think that fans would have left them since their music would be still awesome. But it could be weird for many of them. U right with that music was always at some ways connected with looks, but what I was reffering at is just the fact that nowadays, but not always, it replaces talent, as an example we can name today's mainstream, that's how these commercial stars are appearing on the stage, mostly for money. To me most of these new VK bands sound all just repetitive. There generally exist some good older bands, but look at UCP or oshare kei - a perfect example of the bands who are rather focusing on looks instead of music (or simply there's almost no talent involved), and as a result they all sound boringly the same.

visual kei will always be underground. because guys that dress like girls can never be mainstream.

the majority will always listen to bands that dress more mainstream.

---> so the majority totally cares about looks

second i personally love the visuals and i choose them because i am so bored with western music.

visual kei bands had something different and i don't want them to stop.

i am fed up with the european ,american bands ideology.

Visual kei is generally not fully Japanese invention, also nothing so unique. Men dressing up like women already existed in American glam rock scene which started in the beggining of the 70s and died around 1989.

Besides I really don't think that music has such an ideology that describes all music scene in a broached country.

@Yasuhiro, I agree with you! Your post sums up my thoughts at every possible way. The basic reason why I've got fed up with that scene. I remember that I also was often reading these hilarious comments, but if I go to Mad Capsule Markets or Loudness music videos I'm glad that there are mainly intellingent ppl commenting, instead of some crazy fanboys/fangirls.

But I think that from the perspective "Better or worse music exists in every country" Japanese music is just like any other music in the world, without ingoring the fact that there are many bands with it's unique sound.

  17. Wow, perhaps I'm sweeping dust from another thread of a band that I'm an enormous fan of :)

I keep looking forward their new album, because I'm sure that it's going to come out in the next year. So far all what I found is their incoming tours, but after 5 years it's finally the time!
