carddass got a reaction from Furik in X Japan new album scheduled for 30th of TBD
Yoshiki just had a major operation, one he's been pushing off for a while, so it's not happening.  He's delayed the album for lesser things as we know.

Until that fateful day, here's a teaser from more than 2 years ago that really got the fans excited that release day was near:

While searching google for other info about this announcement I came across an old post I did back in 2010 which referenced Matenrou's blog saying the doguu album would be out in 2011!

Surprisingly 5 of the unrecorded songs back then that I mentioned are the exact ones that will appear on the album. The other two tracks haven't been played or changed titles along the way.

Awesome. Can't wait to order this finally.

I was secretly hoping it would have morphed into a 10 or 12 track album considering all the new songs they have. Being a fan of 80's new wave, munimuni's 'New Order Love Song'  sounds like an awesome prospect.

It was definitely after he broke from the Home of Heart / Masaya's cult that he adopted this new moniker. I imagine it had to do with legal associations from his previous endeavors - AFAIK, he might've signed over his previous management to Masaya so anything under his original 'Toshi' might go directly to HoH.

Not to mention his autobiography basically explained that he was penniless despite all those years of gigging for Masaya's group. He's working his ass off now like he did back then but now at least he looks like he's having fun doing it and hopefully living more comfortably. For a tragic read about how Toshi original became brainwashed and how he quit the band, read this great translation: http://www.xjapantranslations.com/brainwashing-12-years-of-hell-1

Anyway, Toshi and his backing band might be more X than X Japan is these days. He's pretty much playing all of the songs X fans want to hear live.  I mean look at this fricken setlist from a recent live!

    Dear Loser
    Vanishing Love
    Sadistic Desire
    WEEK END
    Standing Sex
    Desperate Angel
    Celebration
    Say Anything
    World Anthem
    Blue Blood
    Alive
    Stab Me in the Back
    Joker
    Orgasm

    Encore:
    Toki no Umi e

He's also performed other classics in recent years like Rose of Pain, Silent Jealousy, Unfinished, Tears, and Dahlia .

I agree early era X is great and would love to hear proper studio versions but I actually wouldn't fault him for not releasing those. For starters, most were never recorded in a studio. A few of those (Right Now, Tuneup Baby, Only Way) were directly done by guitarist Jun / Hisashi Takai and once he left, none of those songs were really played again afterwards, IFAIK.

SBR, Feel Me Tonight and Lady in Tears had demos but nothing they could remaster by any means, even if those master tapes existed they would possible sound not great since they didn't have a budget to properly record, and you know Yoshiki and his recording habits now!, not to mention they all scream of 80's Iron Maiden influenced metal which the band has long moved past.

Install never made it far and it's probably for the best. It wouldn't have fit well with VV, I think. I doubt a proper studio version exists for the same usually no time / no budget  scenario most bands suffered through early in their careers.

I'm more annoyed that alot of those demos on Rose and Blood didn't get picked for Jealousy. 'Shadows' , 'Light Breeze' and 'Rose and Blood', while being somewhat typical of the time period and the latter being Xclamation 2.0, would've rounded out the album better. I don't hate many X / X Japan's songs but that album has two of my most hated, Desperate Angel and Joker (Celebration 2.0!) that I would've gladly traded out for the aforementioned demos. Those demos were clearly better songs and with proper recording polish would've sounded even better. But of course, we know the story, Yoshiki didn't like the demos, the band got annoyed the songs didn't get used and Taiji ultimately got kicked out.

I've always dreamed and hoped that the early Violet UK tracks would get released one day. The ones from 1996-2001 or so. It's a crime that they never did.  White poem I is a great example that escaped obscurity by being used as a X song, the rest were snippits used in the 7-11 commercials, the Sane movie, and in a few other odd promotional places. They had an old school trip hop feel or like Massive Attack which had broken big around the same time before the VUK project became mush-filled electronic songs like a protools sample project screaming about the infinite number of layers it could support which is what those songs in 2005 on myspace and Itunes felt like . I imagine there being no chance of those every being released now, if they were, they'd be reworked into dreck.

Here's one VUK early song which legend goes was played at a press event by Yoshiki.  Amazing to my ears!

I actually do remember that now. For some reason I applied that story to Tetsuya Komuro instead of Yoshiki.
It sounded fantastic and unbelievable back then....and almost plausible....and then the excuses started piling up year after year with bogus announcements and as a fan I started to realize most of what he says is a sham.

Sure, La Venus is a new recording but Without You was probably in the can for quite a while now. The rest are just the same-old same-old.

I've thrown out these numbers before but here's X Japan's output through what I've grouped as their major recording / releasing moments:

1987-1991: 25-30 songs: Vanishing Vision, Blue Blood, Jealousy, Art of Life (The last one was written / recorded in 90 and 91 but released later of course)
1992 -1997: 11 songs or so: Dahlia + The Last Song
1998-2017: 10 songs or so. I've included their hiatus years since Yoshiki recycled a few Violet UK songs for X Japan

Depending on how you look at it, releases and songs are getting less and less as more time goes on. If and when this new album comes out, that's it. X Japan as we know it will just be a live act milking the fan's wallet's dry.

And if you really want to look at it, their most productive period was when X was a band with everyone contributing (87-91). Basically as soon Taiji got kicked out, they became X Japan and Yoshiki became a mega diva, the band as a whole stopped functioning properly as a recording artist.

Well said. Yoshiki spent the week or so just chilling at Sundance for promotions for the doc schmoozing with random celebs. He hardly looked like a guy trying to make an album deadline. Considering his supposed perfectionist qualities, you think he'd be behind the mixing desk everyday for the last few months stressing about their first album in 20 years!
But any X fan who's been following the band knows this is what happens time and again. So while unfortunate for Pata, you damn well know the delays they use in his name have nothing to do with him really. They could've still released the album if it existed but as most of us said above, it mostly was never close to being done.
And it's long been said that Yoshiki burned alot of bridges when he forcible broke out of the Sony contact. You member how they went major with a big splash with blue blood? Well most bands sign a record contact for multiple albums. How many did X release with Sony? Just two. Blue blood and jealousy. Of course he tried to sell art of life as an whole album of music but sony wouldn't accept that. Then yoshiki and x had dreams of being international or breaking into America with art of life, remember the Rockefeller center NY press conference, so they forcibly got out of the Sony contact and switched labels to go to Atlantic. Since then they've been somewhat blacklisted and known for being a difficult band. Rock music doesn't sell that much in Japan anymore, physical album sales are a fraction of what they were, so it didn't surprise me that they haven't found a label for all of these reasons. Who wants to sign a contract for what every music company knows will only be for one album with a difficult diva-musician?

Exactly, I don't quit get their strategy. The live DVD was briefly mentioned in their e-mail newsletter the day before and it hardly has any presence on the website. It's like he / they are trying not to promote their own work! And only selling it at lives really limits the distribution. Maybe they're trying to drive ticket sales?

Now I have to start lurking on Yahoo Japan auctions which I haven't done in forever.

And forget the Doguu album, they should just release a proper 10 or 12 track album now!

Yea, the video rocks (the overall look, production value, editing) considering it's probably 'low-budget' and paid for out of their own pockets. Even some of the majors who are backed with money come up with boring videos (I'm looking at you Luna Sea!) when that really shouldn't happen.

I think Madame Edwarda's facebook or twitter post even teased that they would be performing a new song at one of their upcoming lives. I'm sure we'll here it 10-15 if they ever record again!

Don't forget to check out the Zeus Machina video, it's not as gothic but it's the sonic sister to Madame Edwarda. It's also the same lineup plus original Zeus member Yukino (ex Ex-ans).
