  1. well from the first few release or so, if my memory is right there were like 1 or 2 all english songs on the releases. while searching OOR all english in my face and eff that! yeah meant what i said. ohh and i don't care for  "controlled."  :)

The MFS album had some English songs, 3 I think. The second album was more Japanese, but OOR have never had more than 3 full English songs on any album, so I don't know what you mean by "english in my face" because it's basically the same for both bands. Taka sings combination Japanese and English in 80% OOR songs.

  2. I have a bit of time to spend as I'm waiting on an email. So this looks fun. I always like things like this. ^o^

    10. What do you listen to, to hype you up? Hardcore, metalcore, screamo, punk, ect.

    11. What do you listen to when you want to calm down? Shoegaze, mellow alternative...

    12. Last gig/concert you went to? The All Stars Tour (I See Stars, The Acacia Strain, Slaves, Betraying The Martyrs, Kublai Khan, Sworn In, and more I didn't know or catch their names. It was almost 12 hours of bands.)

    13. Band you find yourself listening to the most right now? Slaves

    14. Most hated band? Lately I find Nocturnal Bloodlust irritating.

    15. Song that makes you think? letlive. - "Younger"

    16. Band that you think the world should love as much as you do? SiM

    17. Favorite music video? I don't really have a favorite. I just like live videos of concert footage or performance type videos.

    18. Can you play a musical instrument? I sing, does that count? I play piano and guitar badly, but I can play simple things.

    19. Are you in a band? Kind of? I'm in a project that's not active right now, but I have a history in bands.

    20. Do you wish you could play an instrument? If so, which one? I wish I was 100x better at guitar, and I'd like to learn programming and drum machine.

    24. What do you think of Country music? I don't like very much of it, but I like a little bit. Sometimes it can be very emotional, and I like that.

    25. What do you think of Death metal? I like it too, but my ears can get blown out on it fairly quickly, especially in a live setting.

    26. What do you think of Visual Kei? Big fan. Although, not as big a fan as I used to be.

    27. What do you think of Hip-Hop? In grade school I was crazy about it. I still like a handful of rappers, but I hate most of the stuff that is popular or on the radio because it's just about showing off.

    28. If you were a musical instrument what would you be? A flute came to mind?

    29. What do your parents listen to? Rock music. Especially 60s British invasion era songs. But they also like modern rock and a lot of what I listen to. My dad is a huge Miyavi fan hahaha.

    31. Do you know the names of all the band members that you listen to? Well not all because I have over 1000 artists in my library... but of my list of favorite bands I know the members pretty well.

    32. Have you met any famous musicians? Yes. Ranging from member of New Kids on the Block to members of Cannibal Corpse. Haha. For Japanese artists I've met Crossfaith, MUCC, D'espairsRay, Rentrer en soi, 12012, and some indies bands so they wouldn't count as famous.

    33. Do you follow the music charts, like the top 40? I'll listen to the top 40 list brodcast once every few weeks, or it's often background at the place I work. Atleast, for American top 40. I don't listen to the others.

    34. Do you watch music TV? I used to when I was young and MTV still showed videos (probably showing my age here) but not recently on tv, no. Now I just go right to youtube. :)

    35. Do you listen to the radio? Mostly as background at work, they play it. And I will put it on about once a month or so to see what is new.

    36. What are 3 of your favorite albums ever? This is so hard!!! It hurts me to only choose three but we'll say MUCC "極彩", Sevendust "Home", and Nirvana "Nevermind" had huge impacts on my life and I played them ridiculous amounts.

    38. Do you buy music digitally? Yes.

    39. Favorite Visual Kei band? MUCC

    47. What do you think of autotune? It's overused. But some bands make it cool.

    48. What do you think of Noise (music)? It's not something I would listen to for long periods of time.

    49. Do you prefer listening to music on speakers or with headphones? Speakers, but I don't really mind headphones as far as sound quality or anything like that. I just hate the feeling that someone could sneak up on me.

    50. What musician(s) are you most physically atracted to? Do you have all day? Because I got a long list.

    51. If you could bring back any disbanded band, which one would it be? It would involve bringing band members back to life... If that's on the table then, Eldorado.

    52. If you HAD to stereotype your music tastes, what would you be considered? (in example -a metal-head, hip-hop, goth, hipster, etc..) I've been called Emo for a long time even though I don't really see it. But sure, we'll go with that.

    53. How much on average do you listen to music? All the times I'm not having to interact with humans or sleeping. So quite a bit.

    54. How big is your digital music collection? Music folder has over 15k files in it but some are album art files. More if I hadn't lost a hard drive a few years back. Possibly double what I have now. I've been too lazy to hunt down everything again.

    55. How many physical CDs do you own? *goes to count* I just counted 206.

    60. Favorite album cover? Also don't really care about those, either.

  3. I actually think it might be fairer than people would expect because I've seen a pretty decent fanbase for MFS, not to mention many OOR fans are MFS converts. So we'll see, I suppose.

I think if you compare the first 3-4 releases only from each band they both have really strong material that easily competes with the other. Personally I think Taka has the better voice (or atleast more pleasant to my ears. I don't consider Hiro a bad singer at all) and OOR musically have clearer and more open arrangements which help having catchier hooks in their music. While I like MFS, I just don't find their music to be that catchy. It's a bit more technical and aggressive (not to say OOR also don't get aggressive at times) overall but sometimes that leaves their arrangements a bit muddy. So there's a lot of little differences with them. I just think OOR has had a stronger sense of composition from the beginning.

  4. I still haven't even seen Coven orz

    I'm curious what you'll think about it when you get to it. I hadn't seen the first 2 seasons (the ads really seemed cheesy to me), but Coven's wicked witches concept really excited me, so I marathoned both previous seasons right before it started. And that was probably a bad idea. In retrospect I wish I would have just watched Coven first, then I would have enjoyed it more probably. >_>;;;;

  5. wow didn't even know about this group. I'll have to look more in to them now *___*

Yay!! They're so worth it. If you have trouble finding their stuff let me know.

  6. maaaaaa I get mine from a local store. I can grab a pair ofr you and give them to you in September or send them to you. They have lots of colors. ^___^

Awesome!! Just let me know how much they run you so I can give you the cash at the show. Thank you! <3

  7. My first thought was that you remind me of Faith from Mirror's Edge.

Oh she looks so cool (I just googled her) thank you!

you were always stunning in my eyes though. *___* also I'm digging this new haircut on your girl. shooooooot.

    Aww, thank you sweetie. You are looking quite adorbs in your new photo. Where do you get your contacts? I wish my blue ones showed up that vivid. ;w;

  8. I'm really excited for the new season. I have hopes they'll bring back the creep factor from the first two seasons. I thoroughly enjoyed Coven but I didn't find it creepy/scary at all and there were massive plot holes for me. But still, I'll probably buy it when it comes out on blu-ray anyway.

  9. I've visited:

    -England

    -France

    -Scotland

    -Japan

and many of the states in the US:

    -Florida

    -Georgia

    -Louisiana

    -Tennessee

    -Virginia

    -Ohio

    -Maryland

    -New York

    -New Jersey

    -Pennsylvania

    -Colorado

    -Texas

    -Oklahoma

    -California

    -Oregon

    -Washington

    -Washington D.C.

Plus driven through more (but we didn't stop to check things out so I don't think they count).

I'll be on my first trip to see Canada this fall. I'm visiting a friend in Vancouver and I'm excited. Most of my trips abroad only last for a week or so. My trip to Scotland was an exception because it was a failed attempt to move there and I got to stay a little over a month. I really want to visit Japan again and do more because my last trip consisted of wandering around not really knowing what I wanted to do more than doing cool things. And I didn't speak but a handful of Japanese words at the time. Now my Japanese is much better and I'd be able to start conversations with people which I think would also make the trip much more fun.

As for OPs questions... It varies depending on where you're from. I found my flight to Japan this time was around $1200 (booking nearly 6 months in advance). I'm very okay with staying in hostels in Tokyo so my budget is around $30 a night. Then food is easily $50+ (this is assuming I'll be out and eating at cafes and restaurants, buying food to cook at the hostel would be considerably cheaper) a day. As I'm planning a trip in the future to stay around a month long, I'd need around $5000 to eat, sleep, travel (not just flight but also trains, cabs, buses, ect), and shop comfortably.

I've heard of some people renting a house/home for extended trips (30 days or longer), but I would have no idea how to do that. Does anyone have advice on that?

Edit: I forgot Ohio and Maryland in my US states visited, so added that just now.

  10. I knew Gazette were gonna take this one. Gazette were one of my gateway visual kei bands, as well. But they lost me completely with the last few releases. They seem to have fallen into this rut that I find boring and predictable. Nightmare, on the other hand, has always left me bored and unimpressed, to be frank. But overall, Gazette at least had more than a few years I felt were worthy of the attention they got, so they get my vote.

  11. Ah, I'm so jealous. I fear they won't ever come to my country so I'd love if you could post a live report if you see them again! :D

  12. I generally try to be front row so we don't really participate. We move over as little as we have to, then just run back to our spots. >_>;;;  If I'm further back then I just get out of the way. I'm pretty sure it will depend on the size of the venue and how hype the crowd is for them, too. The first time I saw them Ken didn't do it.

  13. I can't help but to love this group. I find the music to be really good and super catchy, and really what else could I ask for.
Their fans keep telling me I have to go listen to the rest of their girl group, and I'm pretty sure that's never gonna happen because I only got into this project due to it being a twist on metal.
But I hope these girls ride the novelty until the wheels fall off. I'm kinda scared what GaGa's crowd will think of them, but then again even bad press is good press. Their name is getting out to literally millions of people because of it so I'm sure in the end it'll all be worth it.

  14. LULZ Their videos. They just need to shoot live videos or party videos forever. hahahaha. There is always either horrible cheap cg or bad acting or both. I can't with them. Just listen to the cd. haha.
I've been watching all their live footage and going crazy.  I can't wait to party with you and rock out to the new songs.

    We can expect this awesome-ness.

  15. That's an awesome video I really need to look into some of those bands. I didn't realize that so many of the newer bands were putting in hardcore breaks. I know BIOSPHIA and NOKUBURA for the heavy stuff, that's about it. I haven't been listening to a lot of VK these days but the thread title didn't say it had to be from visual bands so I thought I'd share some of my favorite crunch right now.

This entire song is basically one massive breakdown but, 1:00-1:30, then another at 2:20-2:55. This band is so sick, I really hope they find a new singer soon.

    1:25-1:55

    0:56-1:58, + 3:40-4:35

    1:58-2:30

    2:00-3:00

Man just making this list got me so amped up. I need to go make some tea. hahaha

Oh and also my favorite favorite dubstep breakdown in the universe. 1:50-2:40

  16. @dorasuteika I appreciate that.  I definitely understand how someone could feel it was a step back, because it does sound like something that would come before Zion. But I think if you try to just look at the album as it's own thing and not where it came in their catalog... like if you had never heard them before, would you like this album?... it should show it's merits. I hope so, anyway. ^^

I'm also really excited to hear these songs live, because like you said, it can really make or break songs for me too.

  17.

What release would you recommend most to newcomers (like myself for instance)?

Everyone loves Zion, but I do think their most recent release (Apocalyze) encompasses more of their new and older styles. You'll get a little taste of everything with that one. Their older music was more technical and ethereal, while Zion was the pinnacle of their straight-foward mosh-happy sound.

I really can't agree about the new album with the previous comments.... I think it's a great album. It did take me a few listens to fully accept it, I think because we all wanted Zion pt.2, but it definitely grew on me and I'd say it's a really strong release from them.
