^ Tbqh I preferred DIM SCENE to The Decade, but hey opinions differ. But yeah I would also recommend GazettE's DIM SCENE. Really atmospheric.

in other news nintendo just came out with a patch presumably for that godawful game breaking bug in the main city, all you have to do to update to patch 1.1 is go into the eshop and you should be prompted to update your game as soon as you enter the eshop.

In recent memory one of the saddest moments I've experienced in a video game has actually been the opening scene of "The Last of Us"

This Scene literally made me tear up, and i think it was genius on naughty dog's part to include something so intense and tear jerking right at the very beginning of the game. To me It made Joel's character stand out from the very beginning and really made you feel for him emotionally right from the get go, also it sets up the premise and harshness of the world and setting excellently.

The only thing identical is the order and contrast of Ruki's cleans with the band's combined shouts. In terms of progression, it's nothing alike.

So no, it's not a "direct 1:1 rip-off of THE SUICIDE CIRCUS’ prechorus" when only one element is similar.

So since this thread has grown quite a bit and people have already started posting friend codes everywhere, and also i expect this thread to eventually for the most part to be used as an coordination thread for battles and trades and the such. What do people think about converging all posted friend codes in a single post at the beginning of the thread for easy access so when this thread ends up getting past 10+ pages it won't be such a hassle to scour the thread for a specific code? I think this would make it much easier for people on MH to share their codes since all they would have to do is tell whoever they're trying to friend to check out the the opening post instead of having to continuously repost their code.

Let me know what you guys think. Of course I would be the one handling all of this.

Edit: I will wait about a day before I start converging the codes into the opening post, so if anyone wants to add anything to this (opinions, suggestions, objections, etc.) this is your chance to do so.

Both Sai and Hellion have points that I share with them. There really isn't a track on here that leaves me like, "Holy crap, I really gotta spam the crap out of it" this time around, but this album is a more solid effort than TOXIC and DIVISION. The GazettE is finally over having to need the electronic bleeps and sounds every time something new happens in a song and leave it more to adding a background or just for the intros and outros of a song. MALFORMED BOX has to be the best intro post-DIM yet, and CODA (while it's not an SE) is definitely an amazing album closer and Uruha just nailed that. REDO and LAST HEAVEN are definitely some fresh songs we haven't heard from The GazettE in a while...or ever. REDO has a very nice piano melody towards the intro but I can definitely hear the guitars have a tone reminiscent to STACKED RUBBISH or perhaps their REGRET single. LAST HEAVEN was a definite change of pace, it seems lately we've been hearing The GazettE try to be heavy but here's them trying to go in another direction with the "romantic" acoustic melodies. Tracks 8-12 all feel like they'd be more suited to be played at a live show. TO DAZZLING DARKNESS is Yoin to me but with less of a somber tone. We have some dark melodies going on but the song seems to eventually pick up the pace and change. Absolutely love the transition between To DAZZLING DARKNESS and CODA

I like this album and I don't, it's keeping my attention, but just that. I keep coming back to it but I don't know what about it makes me come back. DEVOURING ONE ANOTHER has to be the one song I truly end up skipping not even halfway through. I'm going to give this a couple more listens throughout this week, maybe when I'm not so preoccupied with college tests but this might end up growing on me soon enough. but right now it's a little like Zess said, "average"

I do love the fact that Reita is AUDIBLE!!! Also, Kai s probably the prominent thing in this album, and by that, I mean that I enjoyed his instrumentation the most, truly some awesome drum lines

Better songs of the crop: REDO, LAST HEAVEN, TO DAZZLING DARKNESS, CODA, INSIDE BEAST

Props to Uruha for having the description of the album nailed. It was pretty much exactly "back to the basics" with a great effort put fourth into it. While Beautiful Deformity is no where close to being as amazing as DIM was, it most def is their most original album since that era. THIS was the album I wanted from them. I love the distinction between both Aoi and Uruha's parts which was very well missed. It sounds like you can tell clearly who wrote what song because it makes such an impact (more so than previous releases). Also, I get the feeling that the band really enjoyed making this album and while it is a back to the basic's album, I did notice that they did their best to add some spice and newness to the songs. INSIDE BEAST as a whole is pretty much a pretty damn good song that packs a lot of punch and is a lot more memorable than DERANGEMENT. Yes, Ill admit that the choruses could have been done better but I feel that the effort and overall song composition overshadows em. This is actually a release I really wouldn't mind putting money towards in the near future. It deserves it honestly. My faith in the band has been restored and they def exceeded my expectations (which were low...especially because of FADELESS).
If you were expecting a brand new album, which is what I feel is the issue with a lot of the above posters...of course you'll be disappointed. However, if you want a refresher of what the band can do with no hold's barred, then this is it. Its similar to Girugamesh's new releases. It's a come back.
Now its totally okay to expect them to actually explore and try new things in future releases.

Since he switched over to a more "deeper" style of singing, his range seemed to decrease a tiny bit. But I think it still sounds a million times better than when he was singing with that "high pitched" style of his.

The premise of this topic is easy. The first five people to post in this topic with an artist and a release (and provide/PM me a link) will get my thoughts on them. Why would anyone care about what I think?
I think I'm the most hilarious person ever and this is mostly to amuse myself. I will put efforts into all the reviews like I normally do. If you ever wanted me to listen to something or to know what I think about it, now is your chance! The rules are simple:
First five people to post in this topic are the ones whose releases I will listen to. Duplicate releases will get ignored. I'll write all five reviews in the review forum whenever I digest each release properly. Said suggestion should be sent to me in at least decent quality (192 kbps). One release per person per topic. I will be doing more of these if it gets popular. The release must be Japanese. I don't care about genres. Here's my last.fm if you think it will help.

The audio quality of these samples is absolutely horrendous so I can't make a full judgement yet. They really haven't lost their electro-kick, lol. On another note, the electronics sound a lot better incorporated than they were on TOXIC/DIVISION. Then again, I'm not going to say anything about it until I hear the full thing.

    Score: | *sigh*

Ladies and gentlemen, welcome the most obnoxious visual kei release this year.

What makes Madrigal de Maria obnoxious?
Unforgivably cheap imitations of Kyo (Dir en grey) wails, shrieks, screams, coos, and gutturals for no other reason than to have wails, shrieks, screams, coos, and gutturals.
Inconsistency of instrument quality. Compare the piano from Demons Cradle to the piano in 斑-まだら- and to the piano in 優シク殺シテ. Toy piano much?
Very tacky use of synthesizer in some places.
Sections of songs are ripped straight out of other Dir en grey songs. 嘘にまみれた真実の底 emulates 艶かしき安息、躊躇いに微笑み near the end. Demons Cradle's intro is reminiscent of THE BLOSSOMING BEELZEBUB until all that MIDI garbage kicks in. 斑-まだら-'s is Vinushka x Different Sense from the backing growls during the first half of the chorus to the guitar solo right after the chorus to the gutturals lifting heavily from the Opethian passages of Vinushka. There are others scattered through the album too. I'm not one to rag on Sadie for their influences but it's so prevalent and badly incorporated that it universally detracts from my enjoyment of the album. If I really want to listen to Dir en grey, I'm just going to listen to Dir en grey, not Sadie's poor interpretation of it.
Decadence. That song alone is bad enough to knock a star off the total score.
A complete lack of conceptual execution. The overly Photoshopped, Cunning Killer 12012-esque album art could easily deceive a listener into expecting a brooding, darker, more mature album from Sadie. Right?

    NO.

Sure, the first three tracks sound like they at least made an attempt to be DUM SPIRO SPERO Diru on a budget, but then after Decadence they decided to throw all that out the window and progress with business as usual until the end. The sad thing is, I don't think that it was a bad decision at the end of the album. Those first three tracks should have been dropped.
No sense of flow from song to song. I've got standard Dir en grey worship, electro rock, acoustic ballads, pop-rock and bluesy leads in the first eight tracks. I like experimentation but even within experimentation I expect consistency.
A bottom-heavy tracklist forces you to get to track seven before you actually -meet- new Sadie. Anything remotely worth listening to comes after Viper. I actually wanted to like this album too, believe it or not, but this is almost everything I hate about Sadie encapsulated in one album. I despise how much I can separate actual Sadie from their influences because when they want to be original, they can devise some great songs. They just choose not to.

I won't front completely because I do like a select few tracks from this album, which is the only reason why this album gets that second star.  Those tracks would be 斑-まだら-, Viper, 優シク殺シテ (somewhat), Face to Face, and 雪月花 (note how all of those tracks are at the end of the album). There's nothing as face-obliteratingly bad as BLACK STARS or GREEDY EMOTION, but everything else is not worth your time.

Sadie, you were not ready to release this. Try releasing an album full of music independent of Dir en grey for once. Or for once just admit that you can't do metalcore and stick to lighter, frillier music because you really do do it so much better.

Plenty of people who used to dig the GazettE or are just curious what this big band puts out now will try the album, thus a higher chance of negative reviews. I'll explain this in the next paragraph. If I think an album isn't good, I will write a negative review but there's a difference between a detailed review on what you didn't like and the "lol this sucks I lost all faith in them gazerock is dead"-review.

GazettE has done quite a lot of different things and for each theme that they did they have a specific group of fans. You have the group that prefers their first few singles/minis from when they just started, the NIL group, the STACKED RUBBISH group, then there's the DIM group (including myself) and the ones that like a little bit of everything. Each album is different in a sense and the least amount of variety in between albums of the GazettE were TOXIC and DIVISION. This is the risk if you change for every album. You'll keep all fans and most of them will be disappointed it doesn't sound like NIL/STACKED RUBBISH/DIM, etc.
