I feel like this topic can probably go along with this thread, but idk. Translating songs is a REAL struggle and @inertia already listed a lot of the reasons why. Every time I translate songs I'm always worried about what the subject is and which pronouns to use since they often get dropped. Some lyrics will explicitly state their subject, but most often times they will not. When that happens I always have to wonder, do I use I/we/you/he/she here?? Most of the time it's either the first three. I only use he/she when kare/kanojo is specifically used, then I know that they're talking about a boy/girl here and can figure out what pronouns to use from there. Likewise, if watashi/boku/anata were to be used in a line somewhere I can kind of guess which pronouns to use on areas where the subject is not specified. I usually have to read the lyrics over and over again, while listening to the song, to grasp some kind of understanding of the song. I will ask myself, Is this written in their perspective or someone else's? Are they saying "you" or "I" here? And so on. There really is no right or wrong way to do this. It all comes from your own understanding of the Japanese language and your interpretation of the song. If you're just starting out though, you should understand that your first few translations will PROBABLY sound like crap....But don't worry, you'll get better and the process will become a little easier as you go, ONLY a little easier though cuz it's still really hard sometimes. I like to look at other song translations as well and kind of learn from it. Compare your translation from theirs, see which one you like better. And at the same time, you can pick up a few translating techniques too~ If you're really worried about whether you're translation might be wrong in some areas, you can always just make note of it at the bottom of your translation. Could just be that you had a different interpretation too~ ^^ Well, I don't know if that was helpful or not, but that's kind of how I go about with translating lyrics. Good luck to you and have fun!

sorry, i know you posted this a while ago already but yo, you gotta watch the second film if you haven't yet. i thought it was pretty good even tho they changed almost everything. also, the train scene was pretty awesome imo. as for the latest movie i watched, it was the new Gantz:O movie which i already talked about here.

GANTZ:O is now available on Blu-ray! You can also watch it on Netflix!!!! I just watched it on netflix (cuz i'm too impatient to order the dvd) and ughhh I can't explain how amazing it looks! If you like Gantz you NEED to watch this. Seriously, everything looks so amazing animated. Watching the H-gun in action is also something you don't wanna miss. All the yokai and gory special effects look awesome too. Even though a lot of the cool characters from the manga (i totally wanted to see muscle rider and the kid!! and the vampires too) didn't make it in the movie I still really liked it. And actually, I think I might order the dvd now too lol.

wow, this is quite a nice list! i'd rank gibkiy and tgads on my top ten too! there's also lots of new and interesting stuff here for me to explore, like GoGo Penguin and Obscure Sphinx~ i'm still new to Alcest but i've been hearing lots of positive remarks on the new album so i'll have to check it out too! ^^

wow, i'm kinda shocked.....i thought they would last a bit longer since they finally found some new members.. guess it didn't work well.

had a dream that i was having a group trip in the cabins and there was some wild cannibal roaming about. it was hard to tell if it was even human anymore. and i think there were some people that were trying to tame it cuz it wandered into the cabin we were staying at and probably already killed/injured a few people, i don't remember much.... in another dream there was this little plug-in device that could make everyone's naked figure visible so i tried it in the men's shower room, which i don't know why because they'd already be naked lol. or i guess half of them would only be naked. i blatantly walked into the shower room and outrightly said "hey" (well, to be more accurate i actually spoke japanese and said "ne" instead......), then i plugged the device into the outlet right by the door. there's actually more to the device because it can also deflect anybody's arms that was trying to hide their private parts, and it can reduce the steam in the shower room. ofc everybody noticed me, making an entrance like that, so the guy closest to the door quickly shut the door on me but i don't think i actually saw much lol......

laziness and perfectionism overcame me, but i finally got tracks 3 and 4 up!

first and eternal fav vk band is baroque (2001-2004 ofc). i first found them on youtube by watching their Ila. pv. all their songs are great and there isn't one that i even remotely hate.....i mean, aside from stuff after 2004. i still cry over them lots, but that's also partly because i don't like the current baroque and miss their good old days :'<
