that wasn't exactly what i was referring to.......i mostly meant in terms of race since i'm asian living in a white dominant country. so i sometimes wonder what it'd be like if i grew up in an asian country instead, like japan for instance.
  3. plastic_rainbow

I thought it was a little too ironic for it to be the same title, haha. Thanks for digging this up! I knew I could count on you for getting this rare information!
  4. plastic_rainbow

Thanks! So the title is also the same as one of Aicle.'s songs? No wonder people got confused. Do you know any other information about them, for example if they had proper releases or anything? All I got from googling is this page.

Someone way back on LJ uploaded this demo claiming that it was one of Aicle.'s demo, but it was clearly a fake because the vocals sounded completely different from Emiru. The music style is also a little different. Anyway, I still never found out what the actual band was so I'm wondering if anybody knows, or if this has been solved before? It sounds like a female-fronted oshare kei band. Thank god I saved the file because I highly doubt it's anywhere online anymore. unknown demo

i only think about it when i sometimes wonder what it'd be like to grow up in a country where i wasn't the minority all the time. otherwise, i don't necessarily have a strong desire to be japanese.

i think xtripx (a bit surprised that they haven't been mentioned yet) have an apparent baroque influence so they might be worth checking out. i recommend all their early stuff though before they turned more hip hop. this song to me sounds like a mix of baroque's ila. and baby baby. as for aicle. i don't think i can list any band similar to them cuz they're so unique. the only band that ever slightly made me think of them was when i first listened to dezert, which i think you already listen to them. it's an odd comparison i know as they're both complete opposites in appearance, but their level of craziness and quirkiness kinda gave me the same vibe. there's actually still so much more for me to explore in this genre, but i do recognize a lot of bands by name. the only thing i know about lupo label is the pink dude flashing his ass all the time in photos lol. yeah i remember them. now's finally the chance for me to go through some of these bands i guess.

killer looks this time. i got bored of them for a while, but i think i've regained my interest in them.

all the videos are beautiful so far but kagidokei is....... ;u; also, the guitar melody slightly reminds me of sanatorium.

omfg johannes was that person from ichigo69???? i've seen that picture a lot but didn't listen to them much. that music sample is pretty good tho. and ahh yesss, i forgot to mention bis!! i never knew about this lol wtf. @Euthanasia i think akihabara shounendan dennou romeo counts. i prefer them over shin's later band ViViD. there's also soroban, which i like more than zoro. anjyu' aren't bad either.

aww, this thread brings back so many memories! ;u; somebody's gotta at least post one baroque video so i'll take the pleasure of doing it~ still dark musically, but the introduction of brighter clothes in the scene shows in this pv. and well, here's one of their funner songs too. i think most bands i know have been mentioned already, but here's one that i still really like to this day. it's too bad that they only released two songs. some might recognize that the vocalist went on to form the an cafe copy band called zip.er, which i also like tbh, but mostly their early stuff.

took a 2 hour nap and had these dreams. in the first one, a friend/classmate-ish came up to me in a cosplay of chrono from chrono trigger. i don't think she even plays chrono trigger or knows what it is? then she gave me a cd to listen to. another old classmate came up to me and gave me another cd to listen to. it said "red" on it (emmuree's red?). not sure why these people are giving me cds to listen to all of a sudden. in this next one, i rode my bike around a neighborhood. there was a restroom in the middle of nowhere so i went inside, even though i didn't need to go. the entrance led to a lower level and the whole inside was like a maze with narrow hallways and sharp corners. the walls were white and it wasn't particularly dark. there were no signs for separating genders either so i saw both females and males in the area; one female and two males to be specific. like any maze, there were a few dead ends and i even almost got lost on the way back out.

cowpers, look up what it means if you don't know (great band tho)
  20. plastic_rainbow

i like this so much!! *0* kinda reminds me of kei's solo project and kannivalism's later output actually. (this is probably what current baroque would sound like if they still made good music)

huh, that was fast. the third one released just last year didn't it? i'm not familiar with adam robitel though so i'm still feeling doubtful about this sequel. will just have to wait and see for more updates or trailers. also, the costume for pennywise of It 2017 has been revealed. it was not what i was expecting and i am not sure what to think..........thoughts?

shoulda planned a 4-year study abroad program to japan
  25. I use a digital dictionary, except those things can be expensive, depending on what kind you buy. I see a lot of Japanese native speakers carry it though so it seems rather reliable. I think there's a guide somewhere online telling you what kind of digital dictionary you should buy depending on your needs, but I can't remember where I found it. I'm sure there are some phone apps for J>J dictionaries too, but I don't know much about it sorry..... @Hakoniwa that chigai website is damn handy. i always wonder about the differences in some words. thanks for sharing! ^^ Some more handy links that I remembered: http://kanji.sljfaq.org/draw.html For looking up kanji by handwriting it down. I use it for reading manga or books that have no furigana. http://jisho.org/ I think this website is pretty well-known. It's basically a J>E dictionary and vice versa, but I also like how you can look up unknown kanjis by radicals. http://thejadednetwork.com/sfx/ This one is for all the Japanese sound effects out there. Mainly for reading manga usage. http://anime-manga.jp/CharacterExpressions/ One of my Japanese professors showed my class this website. It basically contains stereotypical Japanese expressions that you hear often in anime and manga. They also have audio samples so that you can hear how they sound like. It's just a fun website to poke around at. And if you watch a lot of anime you'll probably recognize some of these.
