I feel like I should be more knowledgeable on music dynamics and such since I do write music for fun but tbh ...maybe my ear isn't as trained as everyone who has this HUGE issue with the production but to me, its nothing that drastic. I feel like I've heard worse. Musically its easily one of their best efforts in a long time and these lives are a great testament to that.

I still don't get the trend of calling everything sub-par DEG does, a Sukekiyo outtake. Two Very different bands. And its already been made known that this is two tracks Shinya and Kaoru brought to the table and Kyo made the suggestion of putting em together. If anything Mercy is pretty much a TIW leftover.

This is a healthy conversation but I still do feel like we wouldn’t be having it had we not gotten this song structure so soon after Zetsu....which came 2 albums after Diabolos, which came after Vinushka I get where the criticisms come from but if we’re looking at the bigger picture here..... It’s not entirely his fault. This makes me almost wish we got one or the other songs Mercy was composed of instead of 2-3 tracks blended into one.

Shinya's playing style at this point is comfortable but it works for what they're doing as a unit. And i cant say its boring imo. The drums is largely why my favorite Dir songs are my fav Dir songs. We can't sit here and claim he didn't kill it on Uroko, Rinkaku, Ningen, Grief, Different Since ,etc. And depending on the song and how long they've been playing it or haven't played it, he DOES make some clear changes from the OG versions. And in regards to the heavy parts in the longer songs, Kaoru literally repackages the same riff from Vinushka. You cant blame him for doing his usual thing in those situations. Hazuki (Lynch.) and Ruki (the GazettE) are guilty of the same thing in almost every album and their drummers are just responding in kind as well. But again, it works for what they do. As long as he ain't faking like he can play certain things (like he did in DSS), I'm honestly ok.

The world of Mercy surprised me. I feel like Kaoru probably realized his predictable long song tropes. And hen went out of his way to make this stand out from the rest. I can totally get the sense that this was two songs mixed into one, which @Seelentaumentioned. It works though. Dozing green feels to short for such a great song. But I’ll take it. I like how we have 3 different versions of what is arguably one of the best DIR EN GREY tracks/singles to date. It’s gonna be nice to bounce back and fourth between em. GRIEF slaps whether it’s live or the studio version. So not much to be said about it. Im pleased.

This sounds like it’s gonna slap. I just hope it’s not as predictable as their other long songs lately.....

I tried listening to Infitium In is entirety on my way back home today. And i couldn’t help but skip through the entire album. I’m really fucking disappointed cuz I never thought I’d do that for any Kyo related project. The entire thing was them trying really hard to be so be musically abstract, which worked against them. Also after judging their albums and Mini’s it’s clear that this band does better with a shorter track list. ANIMA and VITIUM show that they can still be creative but it sounds more tight and cohesive. Immortalis is less guilty of this easily making it the more listenable album of the three. ADORATIO’s filler is at least combated by at least 2 BALLING tracks (I’ll edit later with em). But INFITIUM, I legit can’t find any stand out tracks. I guess this is what happens when you have a line up of “prestigious” musicians. And y’all don’t know what to do with yourselves.

The holy trinity of DEG live transitions is RINKAKU- AKURO-MAZO from Psychonnect That songs evolution is ballin.

Kaoru and Die could get all .5 inches of this schmeat tbh.

I believe Ryo from orange range helps folks write songs. He's credited with co writing KEEL's Fanfare with aie...at least thats what it says in the tags under that file.
