  1. Boris and Kekal probably make the only long songs I actually enjoy and even then, I really only listen to the songs in their entirety when I feel like having background music or something - I don't really *immerse* myself in every second of it. I enjoy long songs that are really atmospheric and soothing, but I generally find them boring and unnecessary.

Long songs I ESPECIALLY dislike are certain instrumental power metal songs (deedle-deedle guitar solo that goes on for about 7 + hours) and "songs" like the crap Akita Masami makes that is just electronic farting noises on loop.

My attention span is short, so I like 30 second - 1 minute songs that are really chaotic and crazy bursts of energy as opposed to drawn out, epic works.

  2. Many of my favorite bands are disbanded, or on hiatus, or severely inactive so I guess I'm used to the lack of updates and releases, although I might follow their old members' blogs or solo careers if I'm so moved, such as with Number Girl and other indie and metal bands. I don't hesitate to get into any band if they appeal to me, so being disbanded isn't a deterring factor. I get into a band because they make good music, not because I have the ability to stalk their every activity (although that is fun sometimes, don't get me wrong ^^). Occasionally, bands will decide to start up again years later and I'll regret not looking into their old stuff, especially if they were legendary.

  3. As everyone else has said, I think fake Facebook profiles are a non-issue unless the person has malicious motives behind creating it (selling bootlegs, harassing fans, slandering the artist, etc) - and even then, if you are that much of a fan of whatever artist in question, identifying a fake really shouldn't be a problem. And if you are for any reason uncertain, it only takes a bit of brainless research to find out.

  4. Interesting thread topic, hm. No specific songs, mostly certain bands in general.

In fall I definitely play a lot of hard rock, punk, and heavy metal stuff because those time periods have always been the start of football season (for America) and that's good "pump-up" music: Anthem, Grand Slam, B'z, D.T.R., The Stalin, Loudness, Dead End, Blindman, Eizo Sakamoto, Tourniquet, and Galneryus (with Yama-B, of course).

For summer, The Yellow Monkey and Blankey Jet City are good bands because they have that "surfer" feel that reminds me of that season. Fast "SK8" music like Sunsgrind is also very fitting. Number Girl, Vola, Melt-Banana, Eastern Youth, Andymori, and other indie bands set me in a summery mood as well.

In winter I listen to more of the "weird" metal and visual kei music with darker tones: indie Kuroyume, D'espairsRay, Versailles, Unwound, Boris, Sigh, X Japantz ballads, Seventh Angel, Kekal, and Spiral Chord.

Luna Sea puts me in the mood for spring most of all. I also enjoy some twinkly post-emo music like onsa, Bluebeard, and As Meias too.

  5. Try to write a story or something

    Organize my music

    Make playlists and mix CD's

Go window shopping for rare CD's on Yahoo Auctions

Look through old threads on MH

Listen to bands people keep talking about on MH but I haven't had the chance to listen to yet

Go through the Jrock_wank archives for lulz

  6. Boris - Heavy Rocks II / New Album / Attention Please

    Anthem's new summer album

    Andymori's new summer album

    B'z new single

    Versailles - Philia

    D'espairsRay's new compilation album

They are all my favorite bands so naturally I am excited, especially Boris and Anthem.
