Though it depends on the degree, I'm sure that bands will incorporate references to other songs however blatant or subtle. Ronnie James Dio would do it, Queens of the Stone Age do it, the Beatles did it -- it doesn't mean that there's any less ingenuity when it comes to the songwriting; but if you really dislike a band, I'm sure it looks that way.
 
This kind of reminds me of how some vocalists will just ALWAYS have to incorporate the same phrase in their songs. For example: it's hard to go through a Dir en grey song without hearing Kyo wail "sayonara". He just always says it. Probably not intentional. And probably a product of lacking anything else to say; but he does it nonetheless.
 
If the GazettE are intentionally making references to other tracks, through imagery or style, then it will be very cool to see how serious they are about drawing from their older material.

I did that and have no regret tbh.

Right, my Father was playing Black Sabbath, Hendrix, Madonna and C-Pop
when i was growing up. And I watched lots of (now vintage) anime and tokusatsu shows too.
By my Youth I started to get into Urban, Britpop and Industrial Metal.
Circles of friends helped to developed this one.
So basically my music taste formed like that. 
Are liquid and ever changing, since I basically pretty open minded to new sounds.

@Zess - I believe Aion answered most of your question for me. I try to buy a lot because there's simply A WEALTH of Japanese music that gets overlooked by Japanese music fans abroad. And yes, over the years, I have kinda built up an online network of friends that are into similar music as me, so I am privy to a few releases that some may not be. But really, like Aion said, it's mostly about just finding stuff on your own. There's literally a world of music at your fingertips!

Well, I won't bother to check on the Japanese ones since chances for me to get those albums in full are zero.
