  1. I didn't care until i got my Walkman A35 and Grado Labs SR80e.

While growing up i hated digital files because they sounded like crap, all i could get my hands on were 128kbps with limewire. When i started working as a live audio tech for my schools occupational program I got tired of carrying my 64 disc folder and the damn thing scratching the CDs. I decided to get a Creative labs Zen Jukebox that started my downward spiral of music hoarding. After a few years I discovered lossless and started filling up ipod after ipod, I blame having studio equipment readily available for me wanting better quality audio.

Fast forward to '13 and I am discovering 24bit and DSD. By '15 my ipod's battery was shot from having it plugged into my gf's car stereos usb all the time, so i had to look for a replacement. I found out about sony's Walkman coming back as a digital player and I decided to look into it. When I got it right away I could hear a difference in the internet's album Ego Death. The difference between the 16bit my ipod could play and the 24bit my walkman could play was like night and day.

Now a days I usually go for the highest quality I can get especially, vinyl rips in 192khz or DSD. I do agreee that cd quality and AAC 320kbps is good enough on the go, thats why i have my LG V60 filled with 40k AAC files. But when I plan to just relax at home that's when i'll bust out the Walkman and my Grado Labs, or sometimes I'll hook up my 2tb music collection to my LG V30. But thats what I feel Hi-Res is for, when you want to sit down and listen to your music. If you never plan to do that then yeah higher quality music wont make a difference to your ears.

So yeah for me, the higher the better please.

The I missed one song on that NPR audio quality test, that Jay Z song. No surprise since that song only used digital samples.

  2. @Naaaaanii do understand, that was an example that not all vinyl are true analog but digital recordings just pressed onto vinyl. When it's a low quality digital recording analog isn't gonna do shit.

anyways back to gazette, has anyone thought that instead of just a cash grab maybe they released traces as a contractual agreement with SONY? Maybe they fulfilled their contract with this and wanted to start new and sign with another label and come back with something better.

  3. Protip: It's up to both of you to keep the relationship interesting

Protip: Give each other some space once in a while

Protip: It Helps to do random little things for eachother

@sheepprincessgara *gasp* does that mean I made it stressful and exhausting for her if i didn't feel that way?

  4. So now that we have Hi-Res quality of this album I'm curious if it has changed anyone's mind about how it sounds. Some say you cant hear a difference and I disagree with that. Let your thoughts be heard, does it still suck? does it sound any better than the iTunes copy? Do you not give a shit and just want more GAZErock?

Also, What equipment are you using? I dont have an audio card that supports anything above 48khz so I choose to use my Walkman NW-A35 with Grado SR80E headphones for a wired connection while I use my Sol Republic Shadow and Insignnia Bluetooth sport headphones for wireless.

I for one can hear the difference and I'm now enjoying the album more than I already was, anyone else feel the same?

  5. @reminiscing2004

never said anything about mp3 haha.

And yes, depending on the vinyl they are the same. Some examples: The Internet's Ego Death is only 48khz just like the Hi-Res release. Another is Frank Ocean's Blonde that shit is just the fucking cd quality pressed onto vinyl, so yes i will consider them equal, Hell even japan released Led Zeppelin IV in 192khz/32bit my vinyl doesn't have that quality.

I'm not saying i can here 50khz, all I said was that I can hear a noticeable difference between the itunes store quality and Hi-Res, it's no longer a wall of sound as some have called it.

I can say I like this version of 絲, I'm not much of a fan of pre-NIL. (*gasp* I'm gonna get a lot of hate for this huh?)

  6. @Nagisa I like both versions of all the songs. What I mean is that the Hi-Res copy sounds better than the copy shared by @Mihi.  Do they sound better than the originals? In my opinion yes but thats how I feel.

CD and itunes rips are 44.1khz / 16bit, Hi-Res is 44.1-192khz / 24-32 bit (the quality of a vinyl) DVD and Bluray usually have this quality but most Hi-Res is found from online stores such as 7digital, HDTracks, Qobuz, and Mora. Then there are the few exceptions, the releases that come out on Super Audio CD.

You also got your Direct Stream Digital and Master Quality Audio (this one is new) which Tidal is  supposed to be using for their streaming soon.

This is what everyone has been listening to a standard 44.1khz/16bit rip

And this is what I have 96khz/24bit

  7. @platanity

you can go stick flaming q-tips in your ear as well

    3. pretty sure all the songs are the same tempo

    4. that's the whole point  of re-recording, to rearrange and give songs new life.

I feel that with these new recordings maybe they'll play them live with an orchestral arrangement. I would love to see them preform these songs with an orchestra at like the Royal Opera House or somewhere similar.

    5. i think you mean you don't like the time signature change at 2:10-2:13? it's just one note, he held back one measly note! that's a problem, really!?!?

Pledge sounds amazing, it's got a softer fuller sound, I even love how I can hear the pedals on the piano.

白き優鬱 sounds the same though and I hate that they took out the bridge in 紅蓮 at 2:47. Ruki whispering  in my ear, sploosh!

That extra melody Ruki added near the end of Guren did not fit in well.

    You mean at 9:27?

that's in the album version mix, this mix just made it louder.

Edit: nvm it's in the single too so i have no idea what you're talking about

I don't know what it is about the laughter but it hits me in the feels. I can chalk it up to how I can relate to the song but still, I've listened to it multiple times I don't know why it hits me like I'm listening to it for the first time again.

  9. @Jigsaw9

I'm really enjoying it, especially after Hordes of Chaos. I would have like Hordes more if it came out before Violent Revolution. GoV sounds like the perfect mix of Phantom and EoG. The Only thing that disappointed me was that I expected a different guitar tone since Petrozza is using ESP with Fishmans but it sounds just like Phantom.

I really enjoyed the new AAL I even got it in Hi-Res. I was expecting more Nylon strings since that's what Tosin said to expect. I didn't enjoy Weightless as much as AAL and Joy of Motion

@Bear VR and EoG is what got me into them. around that time all I had was a cd player so I could only borrow the cd from my friend. I took buying Live Kreation helped me appreciate their older releases. Some may hate me for saying this but i wish they would remix their pre-EoG releases. VR is too quite and everything else is kinda flat and lifeless. Kinda like how Mustaine remixed pre-00 deth.

As for Endorama the only song I don't care for is Willing Spirit.  Pandemonium sounds like left over from CfC and should have been part of the first half of the album like track 3 instead of 11. I really enjoy the japan bonus track, it give you a feel of what to expect from VR

Ugh that song perfect example of what I cant stand. Yes, that does mean it's hard for me to enjoy Endless and Pleasure.

also, WTF is with that production is that out or coming out? Either way it really shouldn't sound like it was recorded in the 80's

  10. too pricey, $80 so my gf and I can play together without our hands cramping I dont think so.

also, seriously nintendo? charging for their shitty online they're insane. betting they want to charge $60/month as well which is why they haven't said anything about pricing.

people really need to stop paying Sony and Microsoft, and now nintendo, just so they can use what they already paid for.

  11. 3 minutes ago, Ro plz said:

They dropped a dvd for that bogus first world tour and there were no full performances.

This will most likely be the same. If not, we would've got wind of a setlist of what songs would be showcased.

To be fair that wasn't a world we got left behind over here in north america.

The description on cdjapan says "Also includes their performances and rare backstage scenes." though I'm not taking that to heart.
