  1. Don't like this album. Even though TOXIC was a bunch of unrelated songs and as an album uncohesive, TOXIC was much better. On DIVISION 余韻, 影踏み, required malfuction are fairly good songs. Rest are boring or terrible.

  2. mmm. I drink mostly wine. South American and New Zealand are the best for the money. But also like hard liquors, tequila, rum, whiskey, shochu. I don't really like beer or nihonshu (sake) too much. Though I've had some good beers and a beer matches a hot summer day/beach or BBQ so well. Umeshu I find too sweet, I don't like sweet drinks.. but I do quite like the flavor of it if it's very watered/iced down. I know a lot of people who make their own and it's a lot more delicious than often bought at the store. I do like a creamy mixed drink with baileys, kahlua, etc every once in a while and I love the taste of sambuca/ouzo.

  3. well.. it's not even like most japanese buy the cd's!! They admonish me for the idea of downloading anything at all. But they have 0 problem to go to the cd rental shops and then just copy the music and return it. Since it's quite cheap to do this (and they even sell blank cd's at these stores) many people do.

Also, yes korean/taiwanese cd's for the win! Love my trips to Taiwan or Korea to buy music and dvds. : )

  4. A) LOL. The OP was scouted as a host?! That's just hilarious. Anyway, my hatred for host/snack bars.. Japan has shit night life. In my small 'city' (apart from izakaya and other old people places...) there is like 1 decent place to get a 'cheap' drink and actually dance or anything.. while there is literally like 20,000 bazillion snack bars, host/hostess.. omg. You have to be careful you don't wander into th wrong place. It's awkward to have to leave after popping your head into a snack bar.. And as a gay man there's nothing worse than having to go to a snack bar with your coworkers and have 40 year old japanese woman in Kimonos flirt with you and make you shitty drinks. SMH.

    B) Outside of Tokyo/really really big cities you never see anything/hear about VK never ever. Nor do I know a Japanese person who likes it.. or even knows of VK bands outside of SID, X Japan, and a few others.. And people's opinion of VK IS slightly associated with the host/ギャル男 culture. And on ギャル男.. definitely up there with my least least favorite styles for men ever. They think they're so tough and manly but they look like a bunch of sissy bitches.

    C) Back on scene in Japan... I haven't been to TOO many concerts.. but my experiences were quite different at 2 I saw same week in December.. Saw BUCK-TICK for day in question... and the audience was the most pleasant normal looking bunch! Mostly old guard fans who've liked them for 20 years who are freaking awesome and some even brought their kids! Also a good mix of younger people (but thankfully almost nobody under 18!). Also B-T is a long term not VK associated band so much despite having influenced the scene quite strongly. The worst show surprisingly was 9goats/amber gris concert. I love 9goats to death and think amber gris is really good band too.. but the fans at the show made me want to facepalm. A bunch of overdressed (not VK overdressed.. like fur and pearls... maybe dressed to meet their husband?!) girls who were extremely standoffish and just screamed 'temari temari temari' during the whole amber gris concert. BTW Ryo from 9goats is smex and a god... but if I saw him walking down the street I would go "HOST!!!"

    D) someone hit the nail on the head with English education in Japan before... it's so sad!!! I cry!

    I can't

lol!! so funny!! Anyway.. I think they've been easing us into this look slowly to less shock us.. still pretty lolz. Yukke's shoes are just the coup de grace. Though Tatsurou/Yukke's looks go together, and Miya/Satochi but don't really look like they fit together as a whole theme. Anyway curious as fuck to hear the album. Hopefully better than singles/last album, though there have been some good songs here and there.

  6. What????? Shou gotten worse?! I used to hate his singing... sucked so bad. It's still is a bit spotty at times, but he's improved a LOT and actually sounds quite nice in quite a few songs now. Props for improving so much! But coming from someone who doesn't like Tatsurou's singing... lol!!

He only sounds nice because you're used to him being horrible lol.

haha probably!! He was so goddamn shit.. I had to delete almost everything pre-vandalize to preserve my eardrums : P

  8. I of course listen to all my long-term favorites. I still flip a shit for my favorites. But I've even stopped listening to some bands that I thought were mildly good but just never went anywhere in terms of inspiration or originality (see Sadie, -OZ-, gazette, etc.). And honestly could not be bothered to check out new indie bands unless I hear a rave review from a lot of people/from people whose opinions I respect.

  9. Kuroyume is amazing. I'm not huge on their early stuff (it's still quite good but not my taste), but Feminism is perfection. Drug treatment, fake star, corkscrew are great too. I'd say check out feminism first. : )

  10. If solely speaking by going to concerts in Japan, BUCK-TICK was least crazy and surprisingly normal looking people. Also the age range was delightful. Guniw Tools/Full related bands also have great fanbase I think.
