Went to GWARbar over the weekend and saw this amazing notice in the bathroom: Definitely the most metal brunch I've ever been to.
-
Plan to see them for the first time in May (with Pinkish Black, fuck yes!), glad to hear a positive review of their live show. And I'd probably rank their albums in the reverse order you did, but like you I can dig them all.

Hahaha, I just ordered the Doug record after looking up Enjoy the Ride. So my wallet doesn't like you but my nostalgia for being six years old certainly does!
-
This, again. Thanks!

Adding to the positive feedback. Ordered some (more) stuff from Hyura and it came quickly and in good condition. She made a great rip of a VHS for me as well!

Liked the sustained note to primal scream @ 1:48-1:55. Thanks for sharing!

Haha, I've wondered if Japanese people instantly recognized that the way I do and laughed as well. Some SEs I like: I think Grieva are generally pretty good at SEs... their two with 'type' in the title I really dig. Surprised no one has mentioned the 'Shinsou' bits on Deg's Kisou; I don't skip them when I spin that album. I'll also add the first track from Sleep My Dear's Move, it sounds like it could've been fleshed out into a great shoegaze song. (no surprise then that Move also has a track called 'L-ve:Less' heh)

Me embracing getting in the way of the Grand Canyon last weekend.

I'm not the only one that read their name as "The L Word" right?? Laer is my boy... looking forward to it.

Great post! I enjoyed reading about the conflicting dynamic of bands 'breaking up' and reforming to get out of label obligations... but also labels 'dissolving' and reforming with just the popular bands moments later themselves.

Right on point about Saosin. That first EP is sooooo good.... then their vocalist left/was replaced and you realized how much of that goodness was attributable to him.
-
Nice. I've been vaguely interested in them since they've got some old-school VK dudes in their ranks... but never interested enough to hunt down rare CDs. Might be worth an itunes purchase though.
-
Did Itsuki just give a Natalie Portman in Leon: The Professional shoutout!? I think he's my new favorite VK bandman. Nice interview!
-
No idea what I'd ever put them on but I grabbed these cute Vampillia x Bis stickers with my last FJ order:

Not scans, but it's black text on white so these cell phone pics of the Rose/Mirage lyrics pages should do:

The poll question says it all really... whats the best jrock/VK song that has the classic [censored] beep in it? I don't really think Japan has an RIAA/FCC as such (and it's not like these indie VK bands are trying to get mainstream radio airplay with these songs), so these are instances of the band censoring words as a stylistic choice. And I really like all these songs... so hopefully you have examples of others to share! Deg's Mazohyst of Decadence is probably the most famous of the songs listed if you need an example of what I'm talking about. I voted for Merry Go Round's track myself... one of my fave songs.

^This of course, but here we go: Alkaline Trio - Maybe I'll Catch Fire A Pregnant Light - Before I Came Cam'ron - Purple Haze Dir en grey - Gauze Glassjaw - Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Silence Eight - Illational Hybrid-Zombiez - The Interior of the Womb Kagrra, - Gozen Reggie and the Full Effect - Greatest Hits '84-'87 Uh-oh, maybe it's true what they say about your musical tastes basically being frozen in high school.... 6 of my 9 I first heard then. A couple of my fave tracks:

Hadn't seen that, thanks! Interesting that Karma comes up with the title of a song first then works backwards for the lyrics.
-
Fuck yes! I don't know if it would make my top nine releases but it definitely has one of my top nine tracks! DMX's 1998 is way underrated as a 'best year for a rapper'. It's Dark and Hell is Hot AND Flesh of My Flesh 7 months apart?? I bumped the hell out of those in middle school.

Bought the first RiR single on itunes and was excited about that... now I just saw that their new release is on google play and amazon as well (and for less than $2!) I've said it before but I will again: you guys keep releasing stuff digitally so that the fans can get it easily and I'll keep buying it!
-
Alright, I started small and checked out Sindra and Gloster both this morning and I'm liking them... so I guess I need to find the rest and keep checking out the songs you guys recommended. Thanks!

Stay safe my fellow Mid-Atlantic M-Hers! (2+ feet of snow forecast for me... fuuuuuck)

I really liked Patriot and Revolver, and thought Theater was good. But I don't have a single thing from them after that. I don't remember if that was a conscious decision because I didn't like some new single or if I just stopped keeping up. So what post-2010 (which @hiroki mentioned was kind of turning point and seems to be when I abandoned them) is good? Give me a few song reco's to check out.

Pretty much this. I probably listen to my favorite Lycaon songs as much as my fave ReS songs.... but their are a lot of Lycaon songs I'm going to skip whereas if an ReS song comes on shuffle I'm usually enjoying it.

Vocalist for Mar'derayla And I'll third Ryutaro in the *takes less than an hour* category.
