"You tagged Kamijo with visual-kei, rose petals rain from the sky as senpai finally notices you, symphonic and 4 other tags." I need an adult.

Loved Kamijo's single. Merry's "梟" was phenominal, and I really haven't listened to Merry aside from their Diru cover. Love love love their title track and "Mitsu." Jupiter's album was pretty WTF because it was supposed to be awful and then it ended up being probably one of the best power / prog metal vkei albums ever. How did what just who

As a former vkei blog updater (which is actually how I met Sai ) , I reuploaded everything 85% of the time. At one point, I stopped because I wanted more traffic and to seem like a ~visual-cool~ contributer, but that was a very shortlived phase. When uploading a discography, I even took the time to write a description of the band and what kind of music they made to get people more interested in trying them out instead of blinding posting everything I found. From what I've seen, I was a pretty rare case. Today, very few people really write much about what they're sharing (assuming it's something they like. When I uploaded new, popular stuff that I didn't care about whatsoever [like ViViD at the time], I wouldn't give a description) and fewer people upload things themselves. This leads to dozens of blogs with dead links for the same thing and makes things that should be really easy to come across impossible to find. At least Jrockvisualkei dot com (I think that's their name) took the time to reupload everything to several different hosting sites. I'm not saying people should always write a synopsis of what they're uploading, but it certainly does help get me interested and it shows that you're passionate about this release instead of just sharing to share. I am saying that blogs should at least upload everything to their own direct download sites in addition to copying and pasting someone else's links so we don't have the same dead link all over the place. UNRELATED BUT THIS SHIT NEEDS TO STOP Uploading singles / demos from older discographies and filling in the tracks with album versions. This warps history and is completely wrong. I used to do it as a shortcut myself, but then I realized what it was doing. It's better to say "track missing" or not even mention that this demo or single was released on your post if you don't have the real version. I cannot tell you how it pisses me off when I like the way a song sounds in a music video, but when I download it the uploader put the album version (which is usually stripped of some sort of intro or remastered in some way unless you're on UCP) instead. Latest example (from like a year ago, huehue) was Dir en Gray's "Myaku." I don't believe the single I got even had the B-sides, and the title track even had Macabre tags. Really?

Oooohhh..."Good-bye in sorrow." It always sounded like "Good-bye insolent heart" to me.

"Invoke" is what got me into Japanese music in the first place.
-
Yaaaasssss In Somniphobia was very good, although some of the experimental tracks didn't really resonate well with me. Loved the baroque influence in the first track though. Something spooky would be awesome! I thought you said these guys were disbanding?

He said Sherow will return to producing artists. I hope that wasn't a lie ):<

Oh, he's still around. Are they a lynch. cover session?

Miley Cyrus is the worst thing to happen to music since Kurt Cobain.

I wonder how they bribed him to stay / how awful the job market in Japan is.

I don't know how to handle vkei bands that describe themselves as "gothic" but then actually make gothic music instead of castelvania nonsense. Samples were alright, but that description was pretentious as fuck.

03.黒い涙 (Kuroi Namida) (Re:recording) [from グリーヴァ] Aww, but their purposely using poor sound quality in the demo-cd version to sound more kvlt was cool :< Interested to see what they have in store for this.

I've heard that bands or their followings occasionally create their own descriptions for their looks. For example, I believe Kagrra, had their own special name for their style, but that was just used amongst fans. I've seen "ikara-kei" used to describe DEViL KiTTY, but that's probably because Yuuga spent too much time on 2-chan. Also, in the picture that Dramaz posted, what was number 5-2? Early Vidoll, CalorZe, HELEN, etc used that kind of makeup style.

So you're looking to do that genre that's a mashup of gothic rock, post-punk, frilly melodic rock, thrash metal, and a hint of black metal? I don't believe whatever "typical" turn of the century kote-kei's genre was was given a name.

Pacific Rim. I was expecting more Evangelion and it reminded me that I love Japanese giant mecha stories a hell of a lot better than Western ones. Most of the fighting here was done via hand-to-hand using fists, which I think it so stupid unless it is paired with ridiculous light shows / feathers / rose petals like G-Gundam. I am happy that the main couple was interracial, even if the Japanese the woman used seemed really forced and sometimes a bit off. Cool CG effects and definitely a lot of homages to the Godzilla movie from the late 90s were made. There were a lot of times where it suffered from "I can't fucking tell what I'm looking at" sydrome, since there was too much going on at once, coupled with shakey camera and jerky position transitions. Also, at one point the main characters went into a different dimension and the people at the base were still able to monitor their vital signs. How...do you have an interdimensional transmitter, but can't figure out how to stop giant alien frogs?

The people flipping shits in the comments about it only being 2.3 million views when they swore they've watched it 625 times tho

Very catchy, although it does sound like a song Rhianna + David Guetta didn't feel like putting out. (agree with nekkichi about the look)
-
Same actually. Specifcially the remix version that was the B-side of that single.

C types with Kiryu-like album art: I see Goeman records is taking after BP. It's cool to see that they still have a nice budget. Hopefully more artists get signed to them, even if I wasn't a huge fan of REALies nor CindyKate. (omfg CindyKate == Syndicate?)

Does it seem as like...forced to be happy / kid friendly as the regular show? I dunno, I feel like Nintendo should realize that their target audience is no longer 8. Take their Black and White 2 animation that made the show look badass:

Friendly reminder that Rammstein, Linkin Park, and Die Antwood are awful.
