This isn't just a problem in VKei though. How do I know? Beyonce released an album this week. Everywhere has fans 'praising' her, usually by means of degrading any of the various pop stars that have released something within the past 3 months. If you take a look at her individual track pages on last.fm, some are tagged like 'Rhianna is queen,' 'Flop,' 'Buy ____ Instead.' This cycle repeats for everything. It's like pop music has evolved into who can amass the largest hoard of rabid zombies to control social media for as close to a week as possible. Then, I'd say after about 2 weeks, it'll stop and the fans will go back to just bashing on each other and perpetually having an argument over how ~their faves~ are better because of some chart they found on wikipedia backing up how much more right their opinion is. Quite frankly, it's annoying as fuck and any rap the vkei fans get for being rabid is absolutely nothing like mainstream pop. The worst part is: there's literally no discussion! It's just quoting the same song lyric 10000 times, saying 'Come to Brazil,' and then bitching about how much of a flop they are. Oh, and ever since Born This Way, the thing to do is point out who copies whom so this must be bad musical opinion thing is not something created by Dir en Grey

I just finished season 2 yesterday. It definitely is a lot more gory and actually scary, but some of the story is kind of a mess. Like, why bother having the alien sub-plot when you never explain what the hell they were there for? I feel season 3 is better for having all of the stories tie together and I feel like I can relate more to the characters or at least determine their motives better. Season 2 is better at the shock value and cinematography, but again, it felt like they were trying to do way too much at once and then ran out of story for the last 2 episodes. Satanic Ke$ha was p. flawless though, although I don't mind her as a hippie in Coven.

I'll make a more comprehensive list later, but off the top of my head I have as follows: Jupiter - Classical Element AFI - Burials (Album of the year for me thus far) Sleigh Bells - Bitter Rivals Grieva - Oni to Kage Vermillion-D Alice Syndrome - 狡猾なる混沌の仔と至極たる黎明に捧ぐ葬斂の劇詩 Volbeat- Outlaw Gentlemen & Shady Ladies I've come to love a lot of other albums this year as well, but they weren't actually released in 2013. This thread is always hard for me because it takes me a long time to really appreciate something.

Glad I could help a bit. Some references that are good are here for 6th gen and they also have one for 5th gen which are somewhat accurate now too. The movesets will be a little different, but it can still give you an idea of what you could possibly do with certain pokemon. It is meant for a competitive meta though, so I don't always follow his / her writing to a T because metas are usually less entertaining for me.

Oh, you don't have to stick to VKei. I just don't know of any outside of vkei at the moment (partly why I started this thread~), so any genre / scene is fine.

It depends on what you want to do with that pokemon. The point is to emphasize certain stats for whatever role you plan on using it. For example, if you want someone to be a support-ish mon, you'd probably pick someone more naturally tanky and EV train it in def, sp. def, and speed so it can have a fighting chance at going first or at least be able to not be 1 hit ko'd by everything. Sweepers are the opposite: you want them to focus in whatever attack attribute they're strongest* in and their speed, so you should probably pick something naturally fast like Gengar, Zoroark, Blazekin, Infernape, that stupid centipede thing, etc. Since they're probably always going to hit first, they need to pack enough of a punch to actually beat things before taking damage because 9/10 times they're glass cannons and pretty much looking at them for too long will cause them to faint. They typically hold a focus sash for that reason. Some things can't fill certain roles no matter how you train them. Shuckle is never going to be a mixed sweeper. Alakazam is never going to be a tank. Charizard will never make a good support. *strongest typically means whichever attack stat is higher, but sometimes you can get away with choosing the weaker stat if the move pool is 1000x better (Greninja) or if they can actually pull off mixed sweeping (Lucario).

I'm not really a -fan- of this band, per say. I've only listened to three of their albums once to try them out, and the only songs I really listen to often are 'Rosier,' 'Anubis,' and 'Civilize.' With that being said, I tried the new album out this morning. I've only listened to it once so I cannot do a track by track, but honestly, nothing jumped out at me. I didn't fall in love with anything, but I didn't hate it either. For a band people are pretty much going 'YAASSSS SUGIZO YAAASSSSS' / 'vkei has returned' over, it was monumentally underwhelming. I honestly don't even want to re-listen to it a second time. Maybe one day I'll change my mind and will fall in love with this album, but as someone who hasn't really cared much about this band "A Will" was just something else to hear to say "yeah, I've heard Luna Sea before." Which shall lead me to repose the question i left on their last.fm shoutbox. Had this been released by anyone else who wasn't Luna Sea, say some random no-name band, would anyone have really cared? Some people might have said "oh cool, there's some Luna Sea influence here" like they did with Vior Gloire's album, but ultimately it would remain unnoticed.

My friend legitimately thought Mana invented the words / concept behind 'Dies Irae' and 'Angus Die.' um?????

It doesn't work in my laptop, but I know my computer at my parent's house has the indentation in the CD drive to read it. I'll find out when I go home for Christmas.

Noise as in blurting out 'DIE DIE PAST DIE' over blast beats for 4 minutes. The samples in that second video, from what I remember, are pretty much the same as the rest of the song. Someone played the demo on TT.fm quite a while ago, so the 2nd one. I messaged the band through their site asking to buy it and they said they aren't selling it anymore.

That electronic intro they used in both videos remind me a lot of Baiser. I also never noticed that Tokkiy has a green version of Kozi's guitar. Sad to see them on stage without a drummer :/ The second video was a weird mix of old songs with new titles, some of which from their demos with their first vocalist. I hope they don't rerecord them because they're honestly just...noise (呪イ狂ィ人形 + DIE PAST DIE)

One of the things I like most of visual-kei is the lack of professional quality of anything for many many bands--artwork, costume design, marketing, and recording quality. I love trying out bands' super early work that only came in tape form; some of my favorite works have never been re-recorded and shall forever live on in a muddled, hissing, tape. So, what are your favorites? I'll try to post videos, but a lot of them I'm going to have to upload myself eventually since Youtube doesn't have everything. Oh, and feel free to not be restricted to just Japanese music. +Crack Brain- 砂時計: love the melody of this one, and the poor quality adds an extra layer of creepy to it that I really enjoy. Unfortunately, this was never rerecorded (as far as I know). +Luna Sea- Shade: I liked the demo version of this song more than the 1991 rerecording. Haven't heard the 2011 version yet, but I don't think it'll really do the same for me. +Werkmare - Psychopass: Messy metal demo-tapes are fun. This one also has some Bach thrown in as well, which is always an added bonus. I'm actually reallly disappointed that this one wasn't rerecorded for real. +Malice Mizer- Sans Logique: This tape is great. I really love their 2nd attempt at 'Speed of Desperate' and '終幕への扉' is pretty magical. Had this not be lo-fi, I probably would not have liked it as much. +Madeth Gray'll- 狂死楽園: Ooky-spooky demos at their best. The recent version uploaded here also has some warping in the tape that make it sound so so much better, like an old horror movie. They also had like 100000 other demo tapes of similar quality that were all eventually re-recorded (multiple times, actually). This video isn't as warped as I had mentioned, but you'll get the point.

Forgot to put my review! All of my items came quickly and in great condition. I also got a bonus magazine which was nice as well. Here's a picture of my new cds and my first ever demo-tape :V Now I just need to find a computer that can still rip mini-discs like that L'yse:Nore one.

Oni to Kage is one of my favorite albums of this year. As Champ and Zess both stated in their reviews, their mix of original ideas and blatant copy and pasting somehow comes out nostalgic, yet innovative at the same time. I was into visual-kei for about 5 years before I tried out early Dir en Grey, so I cannot say that their work has really influenced my taste in this scene tremendously like it has many others. However, I really do like their Gauze era, and seeing it revitalized and reimagined is really exciting for me.While it does seem a bit disheartening to have to play ~guess the diru cover~ for each release, Grieva's musical style and style of dress are what I personally consider to be of the best caliber this scene has to offer, and they are my favorite active visual-kei band at the moment. The album itself has a lot of variety to it that paint a pretty accurate picture of what was happening in Visual-kei in 1999. It mixes gothic rock with some black metal, throws in some poppy songs, a slow song, and then has some tracks there that mush together a combination everything prior. My personal favorite is the second track on the album: "孤独人形症候群." It reminds me a lot of the super aggressive Matina bands like Das:vasser. Second favorites are "中絶" (spin off of La:Sadie's' "setsudan" and is an obligatory song about abortion) and "Kikei" (their more psychotic / gawfy 亡骸を worship). Even if many of their songs are similar to those on Gauze (and even some of the themes in the songs are highly similar, like abortion, rape, etc), I feel Oni To Kage has enough of a personality to really stand on its own and ironically Grieva somehow have enough individuality to really stand out from other 'copy-cat' bands even though their influences are so blatant that I'm not sure how Ains hasn't gotten sued yet.
