Aside from groceries and a Magic The Gathering Holiday Box (needed a bigger box to keep my cards in instead of hoarding fat packs :<), I got myself an APEX SteelSeries keyboard for my new computer that should be coming this week. It has a bunch of zones for changing the backlight colors and even extra buttons to set different custom actions / macros too. I doubt I'll be using the macros, but the color zones will probably be updated daily. I was told to look into the Blackwidow keyboard. They had one on display at BestBuy and it looked nice but I didn't want it for two reasons: 1.) It was only green. Vanity is a huge deal to me ok 2.) It's a mechanical keyboard, which means it makes kshkshkshkshksh sounds as you type. Clicky clack, I'd probably take it back. I don't think the one I got has the same button structure, so hopefully it is less noisy. Not that the noise really bothers me right now, but I'm a fairly verbose typer and I think after a while it will drive me crazy. Plus, if I'm up writing at 2 AM, my boyfriend will probably stab me for clicking and clacking.

Ah, thank you! See, a lot of stuff you have here I didn't find elsewhere, like the information about the demo-tapes, which is part of the reason why I'm making sure my information was correct. I do not have their history album: i've wanted to get it for a while but I haven't had the extra money for a CD that typically goes for $50~150 on auction sites |D I imagine in this case it would be very handy. To clarify where I've pulled a lot of member dates and whatnot, I was going off of this here. I was under the impression that it wasn't a fantastic history since they made a bigger deal about hide dying than their actual guitarist and the author didn't even really seem like he actually liked the band, but I didn't think it was that inaccurate. @ Champ: Thank~ My Japanese class never got to the 'Possession and Other Spiritual Maladies' chapter, so reading visual-kei titles through an online dictionary is a chore, to say the least. I felt some of their names were ambiguous because a few parts of them have several different ways of reading them but with similar meaning that I could see being used in their current context. For example, "罪人" is supposed to be read as "tsumibito," meaning "sinner," but it can also be read as "zainin" for "prisoner; sinner." I had a similar problem with all the different readings of "呪" as well.

Hey everyone. I've just finished putting together a biography of Madeth Gray'll here. I know this board has a lot of followers of this band, which is why I am posing this question to you: Could you read through this and make sure I have my facts straight? I pulled information for that from a number of sources and some of the dates did not match up. This mostly stems from when they officially joined Matina and when their CDs were no longer self produced. Additionally, I'm questioning some of the romanization of their song titles. For example, "呪ワレシ華ノ生命…" is often romanized as "Noroi wareshi hana no seimei..." However, when I look up the first kanji in a dictionary, "呪" is not read as "noroi" unless it is followed by the character "い." The romanization above is how JaME writes the title, as well as the other instance of "呪" in their album Lucifer, but I'll don't exactly trust them. Additionally, JaME has the title "廃人狂イ人形" romanized as "Haijin kyou ningyou" which I'm sure is incorrect. "狂イ" is supposed to be read as "kurui." Had the "イ" not been there, "kyou" would be (one of) the correct way(s) to read that kanji. Why couldn't they pick less ambiguous names? >: | The reason I'm asking for help here is because I feel having accurate history is very important. Many times, bios get copied and pasted over and over without anyone to really check to see what's correct and what's inaccurate. Over time, the lines become so blurred that it's hard to figure out what's real and what never actually happened. This kind of thing happens all the time, such as when people upload "demo-tapes" that are album versions of a song in a .rar file by themselves, or when last.fm bios are just the names of people that may or may not have even been the last line-up for a band. I'm trying to prevent / correct that with Deadeyes-Star. SO Thank you for reading and let me know if I royally messed something up. Expect another thread like this within two weeks after I write up a bio for 弥叉, which is another band who's history is all over the place.

Carbink is adorable and I want 30. I'm really interested in Volcanion, although I never use legendaries ever, even in the story play through (aside from Shaymin). Conceptually, it being the duality of fire and water intregues me. What typing is Hoopa again? Protect and detect are annoying af and it makes beating the restaurant battles perfectly difficult.

If the Sada one were Japanese I bet at least 10 people would have been flipping shits about no one sharing their demo.

I like a lot of bands that are terrible on both CD and live, so I guess it's a toss up. Some songs I really like live the first time I hear them because of the live energy. For example, Marina & The Diamonds 'Radioactive' was great live, but I didn't like it as much in the studio version because it didn't have the same feel. Sleighbells sound pretty much the same live, just with the energy of the crowd added to it. I strongly dislike loud noises and am sensitive to them, so that kind of put me off from enjoying a lot of the concert as much as I should have (I found putting in ear buds helped though!). From what I've seen, Malice Mizer's Bara no Seidou album was fantastic live as well as on CD.

This is probably my favorite Liphlich song, along with 'Gloria Bamboo.' Unfortunately, not a lot of their stuff is on youtube probably due to Marder Suitcase flagging their videos. Indie labels always seem to be the most on top of doing that: Darkest Labyrinth / Starwave + Red List being the most notorious.

Going through your lists and trying things for fun, along with Cats' list. I'll post every so often as I go through samples. Russian Circles sounded okay, but I honestly don't think I 'get it.' Maybe post-rock really just isn't my thing? Every time I try something that's post-rock I just feel...nothing. I suppose forcing myself to like something doesn't help either, but I can't really form a worth-while opinion if I don't expose myself to it. You were right about the production value for Empyrean. The first song sounded like mashing August Burns Red, this song by V.a.g.a.b.o.n.d., and The Prince of Egypt soundtrack (sans-Mariah Carie + Whitney) together. This leads me to a recommendation for you, which will be at the end of this post. The second song's vocals sounded a lot like Damned Spirits' Dance, which was pretty cool. The second song was better than the first, but both still let me with something to be desired. I was looking for some catchy guitar hooks or an infectious melody, but that never seemed to happen. It did get interesting at the end, but that was just it bleeding into the next song |D Man Amon Amarth are silly. I can see why Arithmetica and Champ find this style of music appealing, but I don't think I like it for same reason. The guitar part in the calmer interlude was pretty cool in the first song. The second had some cool time signature changes, drum structures, and I liked the middle-eastern influences, but I don't know if that was enough to get me to want to look into them further. That kind of music I need to be in a very specific mood for. Unhuman, however, I liked from the first 15 seconds. Love love chaotic, crazy music. Technical death metal isn't something I really get a whole lot of, aside fom Fleshgod Apocalypse which, I've been told, aren't something I should mention on the internet. Apparently being signed to Nuclear Blast means they're bad? idk , but your description of other technical death metal albums being a chore to listen to was what I found with FGA's last full length. However, the samples you posted here weren't that: they were invigorating, interesting, and even though I tend to only like that style of singing in small doses from things like The Black Dahlia Murder, I did really enjoy 'Chaotic Equilibrium.' Ugh, and the short sweeping arpeggios? These guys could get it, especially the bassist hnng. (The font for their name is god awful though) So, after trying the -+-Cyber Metal-+-, it reminded me a lot of an album I loved a ton this year. Oddly enough, it is the sound track to Metal Gear Rising-Vengence-. I'm not a fan of the Metal Gear series, but I tried this game because I played it at a friend's house and it's pretty much Kingdom Hearts with androgynous robot me. Instead of running around and hitting things, you run around and cut things. Also there's no Donald to fucking waste your megalixers gdi no stop jesus christ donald just stay home. All jocularity aside, this game as an amazing sound track. It's intensely fast paced industrial metal, mixed with some progressive metal and even a tolerable amount of dubstep in certain spots. Some of the tracks have the same vocals, but I believe 3 vocalists were used in total. Here are my top 3 favorite songs from it: 1.) This song reminds me of what Paramore would be like if they weren't terribad. If anyone plays League of Legends, Vi's log-in music should have been like this instead of whatever the crap they actually used was. 2.) Think Deluhi but better with some dub-step. 3.) This one is my favorite. As strange as it sounds, it's like the love child of Dream Theater and Celldweller. The content even sounds like something Dream Theater would sing about. Think ~angsty Angura Political Strife~ but by white people. All 3 of these are extended versions. The real versions are only 2 minutes long and the games have some extra filler in the songs that are not in the CD on Amazon. People on Youtube found more complete songs that are longer or they managed to loop them together better. There's also 'original mixes' of some of the songs that strip out all of the synth and keep the guitar structures in part from the few seconds I listened to them while looking for these videos.

New Years was apparently LGBTQA history month for me, so I watched But I'm a Cheerleader and Paris is Burning. The first is a quirky 90s movie with RuPaul about a girl who gets sent to a camp to 'become straight' after her family was convinced she was a lesbian for not liking to kiss her boyfriend and for eating tofu. Eventually everyone at the camp learns that you can't really change who you are and the main character eventually escapes with her tragic first lover (seriously: fashion was dead in the 90s). The movie was described as 'when you're in the mood for campy humor,' and that's pretty much what this movie was. I believe it was also a significant gay film in the 90s, as well as controversial in terms of rating--something about it being rated R even though there wasn't strong language just because it had an implied female sex scene. Paris is Burning is a documentary about the ballroom scene from the 70s and 80s and how non-heterosexual POC in poorer sections of NYC competed in what was pretty much gang violence but with fashion. It's interesting to see how terminology is changed from then till now. For example, the use of 'tranny' was pretty liberal, and the status of 'faggot' was a good thing. It was interesting to see how this influenced the club kid scene, which is a 90s movement that was also closely tied to the LGBTQA people. Good documentary, definitely low budget, but obviously the people it was about did not have much money. The biggest object of note was that 90% of RuPaul's drag race terminology and challenge ideas came from this movie. If you're interested in queer history, then this movie would be good for you. If you really have no interest, there's nothing here that would keep you watching.

Anyone want a 4 IV Growlithe? I have a whole bunch since I just finished breeding for one. I couldn't get it to have 5 IVs, so it won't have max HP. Not like it'll make much of a difference anyone, since the goal of Pokemon is to play the type game.

I think this is the first year I actually knew albums on Cat's list before trying any of the samples. I'm going to go through the samples on your list and report back with things I'd like to try further.
