Three year anniversary with my SO today, part of me wanted a more extravagant romantic evening but in the end it was perfect just to sunbathe together and eat sushi. Gotta stop being so high maintenance and demanding about these sorts of things 'cause it ends up being the simpler things that are most memorable.

Dragon's Dogma on PC, finally! I played the hell out of this on console, hundreds of hours, but the PC version is without a doubt the definitive version.

I don't know if the $60 price tag justifies this online multiplayer only game unless if they plan to add a single player mode or add lots of free updates.
The fact that it can be likened to TF2 makes me want to try it, but the price tag turns me off too.

My graphics card died recently so I had to buy a replacement for it (GeForce GTX 980 Ti) that set me back so much this month I couldn't buy much of anything else except some Game of Thrones shot glasses for my girlfriend's brother's birthday.

Bummer. I haven't listened to them since their first couple of albums and didn't care for later releases but I know they were super popular and well loved! The dorkiest dorks to ever dork in music. Bye, girugamesh.

If you could run The Sims 3 you'd probably be completely fine! It's much better in terms of optimisation. It has a laptop mode too, so even computers several years old can run it.
I didn't expect to enjoy it so much, considering all of the criticism it received, but it's become my second favourite in the series after The Sims 2! I love the cartoony artstyle, it lends itself well to the emotion system and it's so colourful and quirky~ That's just my opinion though, a lot of people think very differently.

Recently I've been playing Stardew Valley and The Sims 4 a lot.

When I first posted in this thread, I must have been about 21/22. Maybe. I still have one of the pictures I posted, it was way back on the first page years ago! Grumpy YA in green frog pyjamas.
Spoiler
I had green hair for a while after that, thankfully the pictures of it are scarce. I will never dye my hair that colour again. Then red from the ages of 24-26! This was taken on holiday in the Highlands before a pub dinner a year ago so I was, of course, smiling because... alcohol.SpoilerAnd currently at 27, I'm blonde and much chunkier (and totally okay with that.) I'm glad I checked on this thread because it prompted to go back and look at how I've changed in appearance in my time at MH! Plus, there's lots more pictures of the beautiful members here to appreciate! I've been missing out!

Eek, hopefully you've not read anything too embarrassing! Thank you ever so much!

Thank you! Memories of you were one of the biggest reasons to come back! It's been a really long while. Things are so different, but I like it. Very fancy, very fancy.

I don't remember ever doing an introduction here but since I don't expect to be remembered well at all after a lengthy disappearance, I decided now was as fine a time as any. I suppose this is a "I'm back!" announcement too but that seems arrogant. U-um...
I'm SUBLIMINAL. Known to friends as Lorena. I joined the forums when I was a newborn baby and I'm twenty-seven now so thanks for raising me well, Monochrome Heaven-senpai.I mean if anyone remembers me, it would probably be because I never shut up about D'espairsRay. I don't really do that anymore
omg. I don't listen to visual kei at all anymore, actually, but I have a big, squishy soft spot for old favourites and still keep up with them. Mostly. Aside from once upon a time being the most annoying D'espairsRay fan to ever live, I love(d?) Plastic Tree equally but that wasn't as noticable. These days I still tend to prefer pop, folk and as usual bizarro metal music.Anyway, I had a habit of vanishing every so often due to real life drama even when I was active here but my last disappearance was the longest, I think. It was very necessary though! I learned a lot about myself and grew as a person. I live in Scotland now, instead of England, with my SO and I'm happier and more active than ever! I wanted to check and come back here because well... to put it pathetically plainly, this was the only forum in my internet lifetime that I ever felt comfortable and welcomed at. It was once one of my regular haunts online and I miss that, so... hello, whoever reads this. Hello. Again.
tl;dr I was gone for years for personal reasons, I came creeping back.

"As far as I'm concerned, serious gamers play on PC."
@relentless As someone who games on the PC, console and handhelds I wouldn't say that being a PC gamer automatically means you're a more serious gamer. There are definitely serious gamers on consoles. Especially when it comes to fighting games. PC sort of reigns supreme in the mmo/moba/strategy department but playing one or the other doesn't necessarily mean you're a better, more serious or more skilled gamer.
I sort of wanted to point out that M$'s terms of services states they can change absolutely anything about their service at any time and if you've pressed "I accept" you just have to deal with it. So I mean like Arithmetica said it's possible they could gradually add similar features, and you couldn't exactly complain because you agreed to their terms.
Ultimately consoles aren't PCs and never will be PCs so they should stop trying. DRM is the norm on PC but it shouldn't be on consoles, to be honest. For decades people have been trading their games (I remember purchasing most of my SNES and PS1 games from garage sales or second hand stores), sharing with family members, and lounging around playing games on or offline with their friends. That shouldn't have to change, no matter how much M$ want to ~go to the future~

I don't know how romantic a song contemplating suicide is but sure. It's a good song.
To me, the song is more about being hopelessly in love with someone completely broken to the point where they break you, and potentially drive you to idealise suicide.
On another note, hnnngh Diablo Swing Orchestra.
@lenji So much goatbed! Your playlist seems really energetic judging by some of those songs!1. After School – 뱅!2. The Gathering - We Just Stopped Breathing3. 0.8秒と衝撃。 – FOLK GUERRILLA4. Charli XCX - Nuclear Seasons5. Glasser - Apply6. Girl's Day - Cupid7. CHVRCHES – ZVVL8. B'z - Nightbird9. Unexpect - Feasting Fools10. Portishead - NumbIt was a toss up between Portishead and The Gathering, but ultimately We Just Stopped Breathing has the edge. The gloomy piano in it is perfect. And there is a lot of weight behind the lyrics "One day - sixteen. Woke up - sixty." -
^ I'm not the hugest GazettE fan but whenever I see them come up in one of these shuffle lists, I have to give the song that's come up a listen, like calling an old friend to see how they're doing.
1. Devin Townsend Project - Kingdom
2. 柴咲コウ - wish
3. Pain of Salvation - Eleven
4. D'espairsRay - 「モノクロ」になった最期の日
5. Orange Caramel - 마법소녀
6. Ellie Goulding - Hanging On
7. Agua de Annique - Come Wander With Me
8. 絢香 – おかえり
9. Marina & the Diamonds - How to be a Heartbreaker
10. aspidistrafly - candlescape
D'espairsRay is my favourite band, and that song is one of my absolute favourites by them. It's so eerie and romantic at the same time.

The console war has actually gotten interesting. Sad but interesting.
What's truly depressing is hordes of Call of Duty fanboys (or Halo but they don't bother me so much) are still going to fork over money for this and not give a damn. They're not going to care that in buying into this, they are telling M$ (and indeed Sony) that it's okay to treat gamers like this, that they will essentially eat shit if you tell them it's not shit.
It's their money so I mean, whatever, but it says something about the state of console gaming, doesn't it? If there was ever a better time to switch to PC gaming, you guys...
-
Their attempt at being Steam failed, they're going back to treating the Xbox One like a console and not a PC. But the damage might already be done. And the price is still $100 short of a decent gaming PC, so... too much.

Seriously? I don't think you should interpret so much into it. It's VK after all. I find it more likely (from what I've seen) that he is given a certain persona to act on.
Well, I didn't claim it as fact. I just said that this was my impression of him from following him for so long.
What do you mean "it's VK after all" though? That's it's completely inconceivable for a VK musician to have mental issues without it being an act, a joke, or a 'character'? Trust me, there are plenty of unwell musicians in the industry.

Kon is really, really special.
Some time ago, I used to think that Kon suffered from a more serious mental illness. Perhaps major depressive disorder or borderline personality disorder. Obviously I'm no psychiatrist and I'm not diagnosing him with anything! But I have a friend with major depressive disorder, a girlfriend whose father suffers from bipolar and I myself have to deal with complex-post traumatic stress disorder (which is essentially post-traumatic stress disorder meets borderline personality disorder), so this and from following Kon back then is the only thing I have to base this on but to me it really did seem that way and I sympathised with him a lot for it. Iirc correctly he once blogged with a picture of his wrists after he'd cut them and some of his entries were very disturbing, he also had a habit of deleting them and 'shutting down' very often. He's such a magnificent person though. He really is special.
On topic, I thought of a group! I don't love them but their music is incredibly catchy and because I hate bullying so much I sometimes judge myself for listening to them. But I realise the music and the people behind it are two entirely different things. And that's the pop group T-ARA. There was a lot of rumours going around about how the girls bullied and shunned their newest member and the proof of it was horrible to see. They seemed to resent her for joining the group so late, treated her like an outcast and were downright horrible to her. Most of T-ARA's sponsors dropped them after the news hit, the bullied member was 'kicked out' and they sort of went into hiding for a while after it.
I just cannot stand people who bully even a little so I dislike the remaining members as people, especially after their very phony apology (which was full of lies and over acting), but still listen to their songs every so often.
