Japan had a pretty neat new wave scene back in the '80s already, shame they're somewhat overlooked

i guess not all of these bands fit in 'new wave' but eh idontcare lol

Japan's indie scene is pretty damn sweet. I think Number Girl actually made me REALLY appericiate the genre, but i was listening to several bands before that already ( ART-SCHOOL, who really aren't that indie anymore I think, Bloodthirsty Butchers, Coaltar of the Deepers ) and after that, the last few years, my tastes have been expanding more and more mostly because I started stepping out of the VK-only world and into the indie music world.

A few of my favs would probably be

Most of Mukai's projects 'sides Number Girl whom I already loved ( Kimonos especially tickles my fancy and I'm still looking for things similar to them soundwise )

Qomolangma Tomato ( dat vocalist though, need to get used to him )
