^That. Their last really good release was Too Fast To Die in 2009, and their last decent release was Breed of the Sun in 2010, everything after that has been pretty crap.

@topic 10/10 duh *_* one of my favorite Kaya songs, although I'm not super into Kaya anyway. I love his voice here, mixed with the screams which were pretty badass, and he just makes the song sound a bit seductive, I guess.

^ 5/10. He's not a bad vocalist... but he always sings in that goofy voice, which just makes him sound ricidulous. This song doesn't showcase his vocals well anyway since the range is very limited and the melodies are pretty simple.
If he'd sing using his normal voice, I'm sure he'd actually be a decent vocalist.

I get where NB are coming from, and I kind of agree with the comments in the first post.

Let me first say that I used to download loads of music illegally, but since the advent of Spotify, that's become my main thing to listen to music. As for Jap music, I still mostly download. But... if I think  a certain band or release is good/epic, I will buy the original. I have about 300 CDs, and loads of vinyl, DVDs, and casettes.

I think that if you claim to be a fan of a band, you should support them in any way you can. Buy an album, buy a T-shirt, I don't care. If physical stuff isn't readily available, email them and you'll probably be able to work something out (I did this with Tokyo Heroes), or bring it to their attention that there's fans willing to buy their stuff in other countries as well. If not, platforms such as Itunes exist. You can't claim to be a diehard fan of a band but be unwilling to support them.
A non-Jap band I'm fan of released 3 singles, all for $1. I bought each of em for $3-5(Bandcamp), just because I love their music and sincerity and want to support them. Each time I got a personal email back saying "Thank you Bryan, this means more to us than you think!" They make music for their fans, and if their fans support them, they give their personal gratitude in return.

I agree with what Tokage said about music as a form of art. I have to add though, that many artists, and even mostly the smaller ones, also put time and creativity in the CD's artwork and packaging. If you just get the music, you only get 75% of the complete piece of art.
Then again, I also agree with his remark about originality, haha.

Oh and also, I'm pro-buying directly from the band, no intermediates. Tons of bands use bigcartel or bandcamp or their own webstore and sell CDs, downloads and merch through those channels. If you buy it from there, you'll know the money ends up where it belongs - in the hands of the artists.

TL;DR I think you should support bands financially when you claim to be a fan, in any small way you can. I have no problem with downloading music to try it out, but if you like it enough to call yourself a fan, fuck'n buy it and don't be a pretentious freeloader.

I feel Misha Mansoor (Guitarist and founder of Periphery) has the right idea to towards piracy and people that pirate music:

"Just for the record, i am not going to waste my time saying that Piracy needs to stop, because it will be just that, a waste of time, it is what it is.
With that said and established, i really don't think that it is too much to ask that IF you are going to pirate a band's album that you don't overtly rub the fact that you stole their music in their faces.
Remember guys, merch nets bands more money, but cd sales determine their profile in the music industry, buying either helps ensure that the bands you love can afford to keep making the music that you love."

Periphery: I kept their stuff but I took a break from them before realizing ho dumb I was. Mathcore, djent(even though they stopped doing it too much), and Nobuo Uematsu influenced music. Insane guitar solos, 7-string wonders, awesome lyrics. It's hard not to be obsessed

MUSE: I really don't need to say why. If you don't know why someone could be obsessed with them, check out their The 2nd Law album and you won't be confused anymore

UNDIVIDE: It's Leda. He's my God, my idol.

Mr Bacon got a reaction from Laurence02 in How do you trade for rarez?
My 2 cents. There's two ways of obtaining rarez:

    1) Trade with traders, foreign or Japanese. Japanese traders are total asshats who think they're better than everyone, period. If you have no rarez of your own you can't get into this game.
Then there's foreign traders, most of the ones I know are, like Tokage said, nice people. The reason why they don't want to share their stuff? Mostly it's because if their stuff gets spread onto every corner of the web they lose their connections with their trader buddies since they didn't keep it to themselves. It's a nasty world but that's how it works, sorry.

    2) Buy stuff yourself. This is how I got most of my rarez. I have some stuff I know a lot of people are interested in but trust me, if you pay €50 for like 3 songs that sound like they're recorded through a toaster you wouldn't feel that entitled to share it with the rest of the internet either, unless you poop money in your spare time or something. I don't, so yea.

A9 lost my attention a long while ago.  I loved Zekkeishoku and other earlier works, but after their pop-centered era emerged, I quickly cared less and less about their releases.

I will have to see a PV before I decide on listening to this.

Mr Bacon reacted to Bear in Conditional disbandments
On my phone, so I won't respond to all that. But if one choose music as a job to earn money, but fail to do so, then they obviously suck at their job and disbandment are but positive. Good riddance and so on. One can't just start a band and expect to become rich over the night. Start it as a hobby and see how it goes. If it goes well, quit your job. If not, keep it as a hobby, unless it's something you don't really give a fuck about. Then just forget about it.
My point, which obviously didn't come through, is that if you actually care about what you're creating you won't give up after a year or two just because you didn't make money from it in that short time.
