Oh, nice! Unfortunately, I haven't been keeping up with many recent animes, so I can't list any recent favorites. The only recent one so far is Boku no Hero Academia. As for some older series, I like Ghost in the Shell (Stand Alone Complex), Wolf's Rain, Trigun, and Blood+. Also, I saw you listed Fushigi Yuugi in your other post and I have to say, that is another favorite of my mine. It's such a classic. The art is a somewhat outdated by today's standards, but I loved the character's expressions and emotions especially during comedic moments.

Wolf's Rain! Oh that's an excellent one, I haven't watched it in far too long. I also really enjoyed Trigun and Blood+. And yup, FY is one of my nostalgic loves, one of the first series I was ever really into. They really had such funny faces and I loved how much more there was to the villains than just wanting power or ruling the world.

  2. Thanks for the warm welcome, all!

It's totally alright when you contribute some original content that goes more in-depth than "band x", "shit" and etc. you probably catch my drift. Usually this is only a problem with non-native english speakers anyway, so you'll be fine to necro all you want

    Anyway, welcome :ramen:

Excellent, thanks for the heads up!

Hello! Welcome to MH! Hope you have fun ^^ Which anime series do you watch?

Oh boy, so many. Current season my favorites are Yakusoku no Neverland, Tate no Yuusha no Narigari, Kaguya-sama, Dororo, and Atama no Ue. Favorites ever? Utena, Mononoke (series), Uchuu Kyoudai, Kagurahime, Hunter x Hunter, and Natsume Yuujinchou. How about you?

Welcome, and have fun~! Also, nice to see a fellow dog lover here 🐶

I especially like big dogs with their silly giant heads. But all pups are good!

  3. Made an account a couple days ago and have been scoping out the place, so maybe I should finally post an introduction. I was very much into VK in college, something like a decade ago. I still listen to songs off and on again but lately I've been checking out all sorts of bands and feeling nostalgic so here I am. It just makes me really happy that some of my old loves are still around/have returned like Psycho le Cemu, cali≠gari, and Plastic Tree. :)

Aside from from that, my great loves are dogs, anime, and books. I work at a public library and read all the baking books and graphic novels I can get my hands on. I love planning crafts for programs and the teen anime club which I co-host. Really, I just like making anything so cosplaying is another hobby that suits me perfectly. Current favorite book is Annihilation and my favorite movie is From Dusk Till Dawn.

And a quick question while I'm here! What's the stance on necro'ing threads? I saw the, "
don't necro old threads unless you are providing new, updated information" line in the rules. Is there a limit to how many threads I can respond to in rapid succession because I'm that overly talkative type as you can tell from this introduction?

  4. I like telling people I'm the sign I can't spell. Most of my interactions with astrology is with looking up birthdays for people or characters I like and seeing if they match anyone I know. Like I get a little thrill knowing I'm the same sign as Sailor Jupiter.

One thing I do remember reading repeatedly about Sagittarius (yeah, I had to look up the spelling once again) is their love of travel. Which I never really thought much of since I'm a huge homebody. But lately I've been into going to see and do all the things so I guess maybe there's something to that after all.

  5. 1. Kagrra
    2. Plastic Tree
    3. Cali≠gari
    4. La'cryma Christi
    5. Inugami Circus Dan
    6. Kra
    7. MUCC
    8. Gille' Loves
    9. Girugamesh
    10. Psycho le Cemu

It warms the heart to see at least one person mentioning Duel Jewel, I haven't thought about them in ages but they were the first VK band I saw live.

Other loves: Buck-Tick, the Gazette, Golden Bomber, Dir en Grey, SID, An Cafe, lynch, Mogamigawa Tsukasa (...I can't deny my love of enka), Matenrou Opera, Born.

  6. Impulsively bought a ticket for NYC, it is going to be a very silly commute by bus for me. I've never seen them live as well. :)

What is everyone hoping to hear them play on this tour? If we get ‘$ocial Riot Machine$’ I’ll be super happy!

I'd be happy with just Guren, but I don't expect that to happen! I'll also be happy with Utsusemi, Cassie, and Grudge.

  7. I bake, a ton, I try to bring at least one thing to work a week just for fun. Mostly brownies, bars, sometimes quick bread, cookies, or cake. I'm not big on decorating although I always admire the elaborate things people can do. Favorite desserts I've made so far are a condensed milk pound cake, blueberry cookies, and butter mochi.

I'm working on cooking more since I probably shouldn't try surviving on just sweets. Thank goodness for slow cookers since I've been using that a whole bunch. There's a Moroccan Vegetable Soup I really enjoyed and have been thinking of making again recently. Aside from that, usually go for easy/quick things, like casseroles.

I've recently learned to make okonomiyaki as well, very easy and tasty. Although any of mine certainly isn't as pretty as your's!

  8. I hate the protagonist of Re:Zero with a burning fire. And I hate how a lot of the people defending to me say oh, that's because he's realistic. And I'm like, I still can hate realistic things when they are one of the top characters to have earned my disdain in any series. Especially when he's blind to how he's so horrible and some other characters even like him and he's depicted as the hero we should be cheering for.

  9. Started watching The Orville, it really is as people describe it, a sillier Star Trek. Which I do really enjoy since it also still does look at some interesting questions when it comes to dealing with alien life.

Just wanted to drop by and mention that I've been really enjoying Sex Education on Netflix! It's got just the right balance of comedy and drama I like, plus I'm always a sucker for coming-of-age stories. The plot is nothing wildly impressive or out-of-the-box but done excellently, the actors are great (Gillian Anderson! ♥) and the soundtrack is killer. If anyone's looking for quality entertainment I totally recommend it.

I also enjoyed Sex Education a great deal! At first I thought it might be too much second hand embarrassment for me to handle but thankfully it doesn't do much of that. Instead, it handles the daily lives of teens and hormones without making a mockery of it all while staying funny. And yes, all my love for Anderson as well.

  10. Oh, one of my earliest loves, I was crushed when they went on hiatus and it gave me new life when they at last returned. PVs are always such fun, my favorite songs are 激愛メリーゴーランド , 浪漫飛行, Fantastic Fantasy, and Revenger-暗闇の復讐者-.

  11. Finally watched Maleficent, was surprisingly enjoyable! I love retellings of fairy tales but don't really care giving villains some kind of sob story. Despite that second point, I enjoyed how the movie handled that and Jolie's portrayal of Maleficent as an extremely reluctant guardian amused me greatly. That and I would like to wear every single one of her outfits and make those horns.

Ohh, and i see mention of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, yes, my favorite I've seen this year so far! Evreything from the music to the visuals and characters was all that I could want. The characters were so well-fleshed out and the humor was just right, I only have positive thoughts about it.

  12. So happy to see other Utena, Monster, and Hunter x Hunter fans around. I'm still working on Monster but Utena and Hunter x Hunter have been two of my tops for years and years.

    Other ones I adore:

    Mononoke (the series)

    Uchuu Kyoudai

    Kugurahime

    Kuuchuu Buranko

    Fushigi Yuugi

    Mushishi

    Arakawa Under the Bridge

    Natsume Yuujinchou

    Chihayafuru
    Inu x Boku SS

...I'll stop before this list gets too ridiculous. :P

  13. Short attention span so I like trying a bunch of different things at once.

    Currently:

I Moved to Los Angeles to Work in Animation by Natalie Nourigat (informative and fun)

Though You May Burn to Ash vol. 1 by Kakashi Oniyazu (brutal and not particularly good)

Anatomy of a Metahuman by S.D. Perry and Matthew K. Manning (entertaining book guessing at how the bodies of superheroes and villains work, has some great illustrations).

Promised Neverland is killing me. I've been wanting to read it for ages, so I decided to check out the anime. Definitely investing in the manga, it'll be one of those where waiting for S2 will be too painful.

Dororo is a weird one, it's a bit too gruesome for my taste but I wanna see where it goes.

Domestic na kanojo will probably win mediocrity of the season but its getting by on the hype that the mc has actually had sex with someone and yet it's not really a hentai.

Dororo! Definitely plenty of violence but it does have some surprisingly oh, not every character is terrible moments. That and I keep listening to the theme song on repeat.

I had a bit of an anime nostalgia kick last summer after a long hiatus. I watched almost all of the Ghibli films, which were amazing (besides Tales from Earthsea..dear god) But also watched Kare Kano which I had always wanted to. Watched Lain, Boogiepop Phantom and Noir also. As for newer ones I saw Yuri!!! On Ice, LoveLive! Sunshine and orange. orange stands out as being one of the best anime I have seen in years.

I'm really wanting to watch Psycho Pass, Steins;Gate and finish up Fruits Basket.

Kare Kano is one of those really early series I loved but never finished. What did you think of it? Psycho Pass (at least the first season anyway) is a great choice. And so is Fruits Basket, especially with all the buzz about the incoming remake.

Spring Anime Chart 2019 is now available from here:

    https://www.livechart.me/spring-2019/tv

Super excited about more One Punch Man. It is one of the few series my husband watched with me. There's usually only one or none of those per season. Aside from that, I'm looking forward to...

Bungou Stray Dogs - Surprisingly cohesive story with entertaining character powers

Kimetsu no Yaiba - Probably most anticipated of the new series, the manga is solid stuff and I have a soft spot for monster hunting?
Fruits Basket - Hello nostalgia power and all my old character loves

Fairy Gone - The premise is interesting although I can't tell if it just going to be one of those series that is dark for the sake of being dark or will actually have any depth

Jojo - I always love Jojo although Joseph will probably remain my favorite incarnation forever

Kabuki-chou Sherlock - I'll try anything mystery, and lead character has an interesting design
Sarazanmai - Another one with a delightfully strange premise. Really though all I needed was to know Kunihiko Ikuhara is directing it. :P
