VK names are bad, but mainstream rock bands are worse: Bump Of Chicken Mr. Children One Ok Rock Radwimps The Oral Cigarettes 04 Limited Sazabys My Hair is Bad It's like they pull out random words from a hat.
  3. Doesn'tEvenGoHere

Any band name with unnecessary punctuation marks in it.
  4. Doesn'tEvenGoHere

"Audrey" sounds like Kuroyume's "Maria" re-imagined, tbh.

    +1.

I come from a very tight knit family where putting anything before family is seen as sacrilege and this is something I think about a lot. Basically, in my case, I've come to accept that you can love your family but not necessarily like them. For example, there could be family members whose company you don't like and who you don't like as people, especially if they've hurt you. You don't like them, you don't like being around them, and could probably live happily ever after if you never see them again (In some cases, you might even wish you never do see them again). But there's still love for them as in "I wish them well and hope nothing ever happens to them because I would be pretty sad." Or in other words "I want them to be happy and healthy, just far away from me and out of my life." Then again, I've never suffered something like violence or physical abuse from my family. Just a whole lot of mental abuse that has made me realize my life is better off without some people in it. So I guess that makes my reply kind of sheltered and I can definitely see why some people might not even have love for an abusive family (If I had a family member physically abusing me, I wouldn't give a rat's behind about them and would probably wish them bad things). So I guess, no, I don't think blood is thicker than water. There are some instances where you just don't want a family member in your life and you might not care about them any more than you would a stranger. You can even hate them. But hating them is a slippery slope since hate is a secondary emotion that cannot exist on its own and it only masks a primary emotion that has been violated. In the case of a family member, that emotion could very well be the violation of love or the absence of love that nurtures the hate.

I've started listening to Kizu because everyone here seems to really like them and they're actually pretty nice. So thank you, top 10 list recommendations.

I second the hate for most colorful bands. Can't stand them, especially An Cafe. I also can't stand X Japan. Their music isn't terrible, but their fans treat them like the second coming of jesus when in reality they sound just like any other western 80's metal band. This triggers a special kind of annoyance whenever I hear them. Also I hate Versailles and anything Kamijo does.

Those reasons for breaking up make me wish I had cared about them, Lol.

I'm not really much of a Hitsugi stan (Sakito and Ni~Ya are more up my alley), but here's a few: In an old interview they asked the band where they could go if they had a time machine, and Hitsugi said he would go meet his Dad when he was his same age so they could hang out together. I thought that was a pretty neat and unique answer so it really stuck to me. He seems to talk a lot about his Dad so I guess they're pretty close and he makes his dad sound pretty cool and supportive. The first song he ever learned to play on guitar was Hide's "Dice." He apparently can't grow much of a beard (idk why this stuck to me). He once mentioned "Varuna" was the song were he felt Nightmare found their sound. But that was a long time ago (Before even The World Ruler, I think). Asked if he would like trying to be somebody else for a day, who would he like to be? He answered Freeza from the Dragon Ball series and I also thought that was lol-zy. And That's all I can think of from the top of my head. Sorry if You've already heard these or if I wasn't much help.
  11. Listening to the rest of the songs, I like them a lot. They're definitely more up Mamireta's usual lane and turned out quite nice. Best one imo is "実録!! 宇部市少年、大人との戦争'." The ballad isn't really my style, but overall the new releases get a Yes from me.

    Visual Kei is amazing.
  13. The song itself doesn't sound bad. Reminds me of VelBet. But it's not the sound we would expect from Mamireta. I think most of us boarded the Mamireta hype train because they had that sound that was lost after Kagerou (Or Dezert's earlier work). But this song sounds generic by comparison. I wonder if it will have any harsh vocals. That other song on Kushami "囚人番号07番は愛した" just had one line with harsh vocals so we also can't say we didn't see this coming. Anyway, they're free to take whatever musical direction they want, but people who began to stan because of the "congested and drunk" vocals can also rightfully decide to get off board.
  14. I'm conflicted. Not the sound I'd expect from Mamireta, but still sounds good I guess. That preview is too short though, so maybe the full song will be something else.

These Nightmare-related predictions were really on point or close though, lol. LSN will release a full 12 new tracks album --> We actually get a 6 song mini album Jakigan Meister will release 1 single, then one album --> On point. We get one mini album and one more single before the year ends. Take no Break will not disband and will release 1 more single before the end of 2018 --> On point. Sakito will do another nude/semi-nude layout to promote his latest Jakigan Meister release and look hotter than most J-rockers a decade-plus younger than him --> Not nude, but definitely suggestive. I think that's his norm now. He still looks great. As far as Take No Break/Yomi goes, Oremind was actually good, imo. And so was the ROUGE song he did for that video game. I thought they might get better now, but Dirty_white was unimpressive again. He really should take that break though, his vocals still sound awful.
  16. This is a compilation album of Shou covering songs he has written for other artists, right? Sounds fun.

I still don't think it's worth getting upset over. He's doing the kind of music he likes now. And even if he is just using the other members because of their large following and not their talent, Who are we to impose artistic morals on him? People "sell out" in VK all the time. I say just shrug it off. That being said, I wonder if this stunt will work out. Are Youtuber fan bases really so loyal that they would spend tons of cash on supporting a mediocre band because their favorite persona is in it the way a typical bangya would?

I don't care for this at all. But why are we making it a big deal that Mia went from heavy rock to oshare/pop music? This is far from the first time a bandman has used visual kei to gather up a fan base and then abandoned it once he has said base. It happens all the time. I know it might hurt his fans, but from here it looks like all Mejibray was for him was a way to put a firm foot in the industry while also racking up a quick and loyal(?) following. Still can't get over the awful band name though.

Mamireta has it right, in my opinion. They're not making cover songs, but the Kagerou influence is there loud and clear. In other words, homage is being paid without downright plagiarizing (the closest they come to actual "plagiarism" is music video similarities). It's nice to have that sound back in the scene. I hadn't liked a brand new band in years and Mamireta manages to paradoxically be both a breath of fresh air and nostalgic, which I think is what a reference band should be. On an unrelated note I still listen to Kuroyume's "Maria" and Dir en Grey's "Audrey" back to back just for the giggles.

    1. Nightmare (Through the good and the bad). 2. Jakigan Meister (bless Sakito for giving us this project honestly). 3. Penicillin/ anything that Hakuei does (I'm in the 1% of people who like his singing). 4. Mamireta (They remind me of like old gazette and kagerou combined somehow). 5. The Gazette (up until fadeless which was their last good release, imo). 6. Kuroyume (And Kiyoharu's solo stuff. SADS is hit or miss for me). 7. Miztavla (And I'm going to be an sob and put Velbet here since it's like I'm basically following Riuki). 8. Razor ( And BORN. see above, but with Ryoga). 9. Golden Bomber ( Their cheerful/goofy music just makes me smile. And it's pretty catchy). 10. The Thirteenth (Whom I actually like more than Sadie. Even though they were good too).
  21. Doesn'tEvenGoHere

I can't shake the idea off that this is a giant prank.
  22. Doesn'tEvenGoHere

Not really a group, but Sakito from Nightmare / Jakigan Meister is usually really fashionable, imo. Also Hakuei.

Not about a particular fandom, but I find that the worst behavioral aspect about foreign visual kei fans during lives is how so many have zero ability to control their emotions in the presence of their band. Like, I understand the excitement of getting to see our favorite artists, but damn can you not act like a raging fangirl who hasn't learned how to behave in public? Don't shout from the top of your lungs in people's ears and respect personal boundaries. I was almost hit in the face once by a girl who was jumping up and down and waving her arms like a maniac. We weren't even close to being in the front. You're surround by people, girl. Don't do that. I guess it's better than just standing around though. As for violence and other types of shitty behavior (sorry for the tl;dr) : I feel like this is something you're bound to come across with if you follow rock music in general (especially if a good portion of the fans are girls and the band is made up of youngish guys) , so it's unfair to single it out as a problem within visual kei. I never experienced any shitty behavior towards me during foreign VK lives, but I have experienced it during lives for American bands and they basically mirror the type of behavior that other people have said they experienced during the VK ones. Like during one outdoor live (back when I was a teen) my best friend and I waited hours for the band we went to see to come onstage and we were upfront for only like the first two songs before the girls who had waited in back of us pushed themselves to the front and left us like in the third row. Then during another live, I caught the pick the guitarist played with and was shoved rather violently by the girl in back of me. I still didn't have a very good grasp on the pick since I caught it mid-air and when she shoved me, I dropped the pick . I reached down to pick it up, but the girl next to me (Not the one who shoved me) kicked my hand before I could actually grab it. I don't know what she hit, but when she did, I got a weird cramp that shot up from the back of my palm to my elbow area. She was bigger than me and I generally like to avoid conflict, so I just let her keep it. And then came the embarrassment I felt when I stood up straight again since I think the guitarist saw everything (or most of it) because he just smiled and waved at me with a sympathetic "I'm sorry" look on his face. Needless to say I prefer staying in the back now. Moral of the story: fangirls can be violent and they are scary.
