  1. Still trying to catch up to newer VK bands to get a sense of where the scene lies at the moment. This probably might take me the rest of the year! Ha! 😂

My bad lol I'm not outrageously funny - Y'know, 2014-15 actually brought a lot of new activity that drew my back in when I was at my most disinterested! I'm Shit talking VK will always be fun but 2010-2013 was a draught indeed 😧 based on the timeframe there may in fact be a lot for you as well! Depending on what kind of bands you liked back then of course-!

@Elazmus It does seem bands that started around 2015 really brought in new energy to VK during a time it needed it most! And now those bands have become well-known as of now within the scene.  Last year also seems like it was a pretty good year for debuts as well. All in all, I do think I'll still be able to find a few more that I enjoy. If you have any recommendations, don't hesitate to send them my way! I'm open to anything really.

Some sadly have come AND gone in that time :( My BACTERIA HEAT IsLAND, Grieva, Kuroyuri to Kage, Balalaika, AvelCain, The Black Swan, MALISEND, Dead Children and MORRIGAN I think all started and died from then till now but are still loved on here! (some have members in other bands already)

DADAROMA, Chanty, KRAD, Gossip, dexcore, LACK-CO., DIMLIM, The GALLO, Develop One's Faculties, Pisarro are still-active ones! someone else will be able to fill in others that I neglect to mention!

The first band that comes to my mind would have to be DIAURA. I started listening to them when they first started and since then I've kept up with them quite regularly. I think their style really evolved to something unique and fresh, especially during a time period when I saw VK starting to wane., for me at least. They're also one of the much "semi-older" (if you can call them that considering they started in 2010) that I still get quite excited with their releases. Dir en Grey would also be another band I still keep up with but lately their most recent singles haven't really stood out to me. Same case with BUCK-TICK and their album this year and their single from 2017.

I’m really interested to hear their indie songs re-recorded. While I’m not that much of a fan of their current sound, it should be fun to see what they’ll do.
  4. I’m pretty new to forums since I’ve never been in one actively participating. Anyway, after going through some threads on here it seems a majority of y’all have a strong grasp of musical technicality, which is a bit intimating coming from someone who doesn’t know any of that 😅 Hope I don’t embarrass myself ahahahahaha

It may seem like that, but people also like to pretend they know stuff :D

Don't be intimated and join the discussions as much as you'd like.

They release so much music throughout the whole year it's pretty amazing that their quality is still amazing. Really looking forward to this new release! Based on the title, I'm thinking it might be a ballad.

FIXER is currently my favorite VK band at the moment. I'm quite surprised almost nobody talks about them. They recently announced a new single, "NIGRUM", as well as posted the MV for it on YouTube: What do you guys think?😊

Thank you! 😊 I'm currently listening to them and their style is right up my ally! A bit upset they disbanded tho! Thank you for the recommendation!

Hello! I've been a fan of Visual Kei for more than 10 years now. My love for Visual Kei really started with Alice Nine. They were my favorite band for the majority of my teen years, I even had a Twitter account simply dedicated to them (@AliceNineWorld for anyone that might remember!). I would also try to discover new bands daily, listen to VK 24/7 and just emerge myself in anything Visual Kei. However back in 2014, my interest for it just slowly started to fade and left the scene all together. I just felt Iike major bands were experimenting with sounds I did not enjoy and newer bands all sounded the same to me. You could say VK died for me that year. But occasionally, I would go back and check up on bands that I still had some interest in, such as Dir en Grey, Diaura, BUCK-TICK, and sometimes A9. Fortunately, this summer my love for Visual Kei resurged once again. Coming back into it and trying to catch up with everything I missed in the past four years has been overwhelming haha. The amount of older bands that have disbanded has come as a complete shock, but the newer bands that are starting out have seriously brought in new life to Visual Kei that I personally think really needed. In my opinion, I think we might be reaching a renaissance of Visual Kei, and that absolutely excites me! All in all, I joined this forum because I wanted to be part of a community in which I could keep up with news and talk with other fellow fans. Visual Kei has always been a huge part of my life growing up, so coming back into it almost feels like coming back home.

Welcome back! This happened to me as well! I fell out of VK back in 2014 and just this year coming back to it!
