If you are a knowledgeable fan of Miike, you should recognize the "horror" plot here While not exactly being the most suitable horror PV candidate from these guys, rather simple albeit disturbing plot here (a child witnessing domestic abuse and exhibiting certain fascination with scissors, edgy stuff and shit, after reaching certain age she starts seducing and murdering dozens of clueless men for their organs and her own surprising cannibalistic tendencies) might make horror fans recall a few flicks from Japanese scene and a bit from western parts too. I also recall NIN having a 20-min video rendition of "Broken" which I deemed to be horror-likely gruesome and something which may have inspired e.g. Dir and especially Kaoru to adopt those freaky aesthetics later on when writing /planning the script for "Obscure" PV.

They gotta release something before I start giving all the hecks about their - or should I say Kyo's - attitude towards sticking together till the very end (I am rather inclined to believe that all the shite will break loose in Dir). The guy's basically 41 and now he acts like he just recently discovered Tumblr and all the fancy (mall)goth hipster trash he's currently embellished (and distracted) with. Songcraft first, leave A E S T H E T I C S elsewhere. (we all know it will be another mode of... DVD release sooner or later, as I stated before)

Look, there has been no proof on things like "rape" happening here - maybe you would like to share your own take w/ Nihongo mastery on what @hirokisaid? Only if you knew how apeshit crazy bangyas are really in general - to the point where, pardon, we may allow the explicit/chauvinistic phrase a la "They are asking for it" to be stated on reasonable grounds. Their intents have been nothing but the endgame of being shagged by their biases - was there something else than that? Something non-sexual? I doubt that could take place really, unless you want to name one counter-example here. So drop off that bias of "men are pigs, therefore VK bandomen are literally yakuza sexist cis-males" pseudo-theoretics and stick to all the available facts law officials have provided so far.
-
Okay guys, get your nihongo skills tested then - please pinpoint where exactly this official police statement (so far) legitimizes your claims on middle-ground visitors here being "rapist sympathizers". Should we call you "fake ID apologists" then? That would be much worse in fact - people from the states should be clearly aware of this btw. @hirokiand @Komorebinailed the most biasless take on this issue - you need to bring both parties to account here.
-
There has been no crucial piece of information called "rape scenario" either. If such thing ever happened IRL, they would definitely bring it up just like with other musician-related scandals. So we could legitly speculate on their mutual consent, albeit manipulated one (i.e. "fuck-begging" claim cannot be debunked at this point)?
-
Exactly my point as well while I was making that previous post. I am not playing any kind of apologist game either, but we gotta also put the heavy emphasis on what @chemicalpicturessaid about crazy fans. These gals definitely have no clue what kind of potential serial maniacs-in-bandoman-disguise they are dealing with, but even with some mid/late-teen wits (I highly doubt girls below 15 or 16 practice bandgirling over there) and self-control they should at least know things like "caution" and slip away instead of falling into bandoman laps. The hell, knowing Japan and their views on things like dignity, "career-building" and all sorts of things these younglings have to yet witness in their lives, she will be most probably and subconsciously risking/wrecking her prospective educational/career status further if this escalates into such, should I say, "whoring". So let this not be just an "anti-fuckboy" PSA for aspiring/current vk bandomen, but also for fangirls who should see "the line" instead of realizing hypersexual, perverse fantasies about getting shagged by Kisaki homunculi. AFAIK the article itself does not even name "the rape scenario" here - so technically there was a "consent", albeit from a person of illegal age, no? This chick should be therefore held responsible for fucking up as well. These bangyas and mitsus are no "mummy's lil' angels" anymore, lol.
-
(Double-post sorry) They would have signed a very yensome contract with PSC if that fuckboy only bothered to meet this (g)milf instead. #thirstytomomi #doitlikevidoll
-
Let this remind those VK bandomen that it's safer for them to dive in dat obaa-san pussy instead of their own bangyas, mitsus etc. You may never know with these chicks... (to be quite honest, I am also inclined to believe that he did not know anything about it - kinda given for those fangirls not to disclose their age with their crazy mad minds these days or so)
-
I think it's just his Osaka-ben slipping in for the most part (it's more obvious when he's being interviewed)
-
Current mode of...-sets will be compiled in a couple of DVDs after which they would more likely end their own anniversary with a single or so - maybe an album might sound feasible at this point, unless they need helluva time to get their shit together.
-
I want to see the whole take of Berry this time recorded on DVD or something like that (just how do they play the mid-part - is it the same as with Reiketsu?) Edit: they are gonna disappoint bazillions of Macabre fans if they do not play original "Hydra" during their sets - 666 version would just sound so OFF in the middle tbqh.

This community has reached 10 years already, and has respectively seen the visual scene (especially) evolve, split ways, come back together and keep evolving throughout the course of MH's existence. However, 3 years until the end of this decade is not a long time period, so the existing base of enthusiasts needs to brace themselves for winds of grandiose changes. We have seen the gamut of heavy, light, hard, quirky rock genres being explored by various participants - or even "game changers" in the whole scene. Good observers are quick to point out that there's a certain "pattern" of trends and influences that could affect the course of Visual evolution. So what's this pattern? So, let's kickstart this discussion by providing a few questions where I'd like to see different Monochromium takes - based on your own experiences, interests, observations and perhaps hopes - on how this gargantuan scene would - or SHOULD carry on. I am asking you to define how YOU see the aforementioned "pattern" - as a VK aficionado or as an old grumpy Visual fan: 1) Where and how would you see current, "dominating" branches of VK (e.g. symphonic rock/metal kei, Paracore, "Ains kei" etc. - you name them) progressing during the end of this decade/during the next decade? Could you see some of them fading out, perhaps becoming more dominant or evolving into newer ones during the said course? 2) Do you anticipate more prominent, *current* Japanese non-VK rock trends in visual scene (e.g. Chanty with post-HC/indie influences) during the aforementioned course or do you see the whole scene, or perhaps a huge part of it, becoming more immersed in "nostalgist ideas" instead (e.g. Grieva and "neo-kotekote") ? Do you prefer to see much larger pool of influences in the prospective visual scene or do you prefer to have VK things in the future as they are now - and why? Feel free to write your overall thoughts on visual "trend evolution" outside of these questions as well.

Wait a second...so now I realize why they are doing Missa and Kaede efforts like these RIGHT NOW: MOAB legs were also meant to commemorate their 10 years together as a band and it was meant to be the kind of "most precise transition point" in their catalogue (six Ugly is not enough to mark the most obvious transition), hence these legs (just like MOAB + later tours incl. Dozing Green-themed one I think) also having some uncanny setlists/encores. edit: so what I referenced was MOAB tour's Japanese leg and some specific surprises, including 2 premium lives back in the day: (this is from one of their April shows in 2007) They had two gigs starting out with an acoustic set before moving on to the actual set, so I wonder whether they will do the same during this mode-themed tour.
-
What if they are gonna troll their fans during mode of Macabre tour and somehow make Jealous' reverse version segue into the actual song? (think of I'll->Zan during their '99 Osakajo live but...less astonishing) B-sides will be eventually played there (I don't think they played SU version of "Children" during Kisou tour) so they better acknowledge their longing old skwl fans and be more than ready to reward them for patience. Any bets on their frequenting Japanese fans not recognizing ASSSSH if they start playing it, guys? Edit: http://www.setlist.fm/stats/songs/dir-en-grey-43d6c33b.html?song=Ash We demand justice - it's been 15 effing years!!!

This is not the Smiths and Moz we are talking about though, no? :^) (in all seriousness, it's just a small delay - at least we will get to see if Enon had a chance to fix some filler shite inbetween when they shelved the release)
-
I, for once, would actually be one of the few folks to stop giving a damn about Enon's personal leisures and remain hopeful for new and fresh Indigo/Gesu delivery. The latter move seems to be a good decision, so here's hoping Enon had time, patience and creativity to churn out stuff aside from being excessively bothered by mediums.

@nekkichi@Saishuyou folks forgot the fact that there were more serious occurences where Kyo's on-site lyrical impros had a bigger effect than just some petty Fukai re-rendition pt. 3 or 4. I mean, His new embryo rendition didn't really match the melody and Kyo suddenly forgetting lyrics in the middle of "Drain away" almost wrecked the flow lol. And yes, the real downside outside of those lyrical mishaps in all of these DVDs is that they did not even bother to play originals of other songs they remade drastically: why Karasu had no original rendition whereas Undecided had some serious throwback treatment? edit: Very obvious mishap
-
These mode of...DVDs kinda indicate which albums work better in the live setting And I must say it is anything but DSS for that matter. VULGAR pretty much encompasses what Dir are live-wise. Those lives prove that.
-
Knowing sibilebashir, this is pretty much the funny kind of homage (see: their earlier homages, this band actually acknowledges that their memeing *works* for folks like us)
-
Have fun while you explore all of that - it takes even weeks before you could assess what exactly clicks in your case there. Also:

One of my go-to albums in "Japanese equivalent to Fantomas" should be up your alley as well: Kinda familiar sound if you know a bit about John Zorn's production and maybe some other kinda-popular zeuhl outfits (does Bondage Fruit ring any bells? You should get familiar with the whole zeuhl genre since it is pretty much "Fantomas-core" - proggier yet similarly noisy) To provide further examples on why you should seek things you cited in this genre: Tatsuya Yoshida's catalogue (Ruins, Koenjihyakkei etc. etc.) - very abrasive, noisy, at parts might be reminiscent of various acts - even Boris at some small parts. If you seek Boris-tier sludgy, noisy stuff, consult these Steve Albini-approved noise metal guys: These guys on the other hand are pretty much proto-Boris - the hell, their main Japanese influence I think? I may have seen Aunt Sally and Cali-gari mentioned in the same context due to their frank similarity (well, influence or not, the hell I know), but you may enjoy Aunt Sally too:

Firewall Div/Sun-krad seem to have the same chap doing promo descs for each act under their wing : "unique worldview", "hidden fierceness", "supporting the "core" of its inception" etc. (?? My nihongo cannot comprehend Firewall-nese) - anyone else noticing this? They couldn't even just copypaste basic stuff from other rock adverts and come up with another series of post-Uroboros faux-angst instead? I mean, Shinya is the sole member who does not exactly "feel" Dir's sound as his own as of nowadays, right? His earlier quasi-kaisaning (something akin to "if dir disbands, lol idgaf") statements should be noted as well.
-
So they are unable to produce GEMINI-tier material even with the budget we are witnessing on Adam MV spot? Makes me think that A9 had some hella expensive ghost writers back then. Literally Alex Jones-ing now.

BT's Hoshino might count as one if anything - I was going to put Laruku's Ken in his stead but then I realized that Ken looks more hyuk hyuk-ish compared to his days as a Blitz Kids' cosplayer back in '95-'96. Hoshino on the other hand became classier after being all coy with his fashion taste and stuff back in early 90s to mid 90s: He aged rather quickly but at the same time, he became even classier and less "d'awww""-ish which adds more to his mature charm. I know that folks are all about Atsushi but I just happen to appreciate something more than just Japanese Snapes, yikes. But yeah, a real damn shame that this concept of "maturity" in VK goes down to men in their 40s being all fancy-shmancy with their andrometro looks that make them look more languished if anything. Buff, bulk, maybe beards but otherwise actually manrii looks should be in now, seriously.

Luna Sea had their own small live rendition of "White Christmas" (popularized by Sinatra and alike): L'Arc's post-Sakura fuckup alter-ego "Zombies" had their own rendition of Marilyn Manson's song + his most known cover: MUCC did a cover of Korn's "anthem" at some point (also don't forget Robert no Thema): Sads aside from their other covers had a very "atypical" T-Rex cover choice:
