reminiscing2004 got a reaction from Laurence02 in your most special Vk live occurences
when i saw versailles earlier this year, hizaki forgot his first of like five solos when they played Silent Knight. maybe forgot isn't the right word, but his muscle memory got sort of lost after a phrase or two and his left hand was out of position, and he just kept playing to save face through it, the entire time staring out deeply into the audience, as he tends to do during many of his solos. like it was bad, out of key notes and then a really nervously improvised 'oh shit' recovery part after for fifteen seconds or so. it was the only part of the entire show where the musicianship was less than perfect from any of the members.
but anyway, while it was happening and he was staring into the audience, he locked eyes with me for like a second or two as soon as he seemed to start messing up and it was a very profound moment for some reason. it was just like a "oh shit, hizaki's not a god, but hizaki is actually a human being like me that makes mistakes" moment. psychologically as if i watched an idol die in front of me
felt as if i had like successfully walked through a wall or something akin in mental weirdness.

reminiscing2004 reacted to suji in [SOLVED] Alternatives to Photoshop?
So I've been using Photoshop for a while to clean up my scans and maintain my band blogs and such.
However, I'm starting to get sick of the monthly payments I have to make in order to keep using it ($21.35/m), so I was wondering if there's any other cheaper plans or alternatives, or fuck, even a pirated version I could download.
(btw I've used pixlr (which sucks ass) & GIMP but that's not really useful to me cuz 1) spot healing isn't as good (no patch healing, etc.) 2) no merge option (I have to be able to merge some scans together in case one picture takes up 2 pages...))
Anyway, feel free to give me suggestions~♥

reminiscing2004 reacted to indigo in Spring '18 Trade-Off Theme
Cycle of Life
Make a mixtape about the four seasons (Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter). Choose songs that represent or remind you of different seasons. For example, if you want to make a mix that consists of 12 songs, you could choose 3 songs for each season. Or just choose whatever number of songs you want. Be creative.
The problem with this is that there's already been a spring theme, and also winter/christmas theme.
In Dreams
This is open for interpretation. It could be about a dream you had, you could come up with a story, or just make a mix of dream-like songs. Or nightmarish ones.

Some of my favorites:
Sixteen photobooks planned for a 2006 release, that were cancelled due to KISAKI's tax evasion scandal around that time. About half were to be of KISAKI × random VK bands, but the rest were dedicated to VIDOLL, Phantasmagoria, CODOMO A, and hardcore bands that had played with Phantasmagoria. If I recall correctly, all of the books had been completely finished, but the company refused to release the photos. UNDER CODE must have lost a HUGE amount of money on them, and we collectively lost a good chunk of mid-2000s vk history. Distray (old Matina band) had a 5-month single campaign which was never released, and fellow Matina band LAYBIAL never released their planned full album. During their 2013 revival, DAS:VASSER announced two DVDs, but never released them. I was pretty sad about that one. Here's a partial list of cancelled releases in the weloveucp.com database.

Same old FED, the worst mastering on the scene. Even the drums sound like a programmed machine, jesus lord

reminiscing2004 reacted to TheStoic in Far East Dizain new album "ALTERED DIZAIN" release
The production really takes away from how hard the riffs hit in these tracks. The instruments are too low in the mix compared to the vocals, and the bass needs to be up to make those heavy sections really punch.
Don't get me wrong, I like this band and this music, but I honestly think the production is holding them back.
Edit: The synth sounds are also way too front and center.

reminiscing2004 reacted to Mamo in Post-black metal/Blackgaze/Symphonic black metal/Experimental black metal
These are my favorite sub-genres and fusion-genres of Black metal. Blackgaze is a fusion of Black metal and Shoegaze, Post-black black metal is a little harder to explain as it is more experimental here's a description by @Bear
And Symphonic black metal is Black metal with Symphonic instruments and melodic melodies.
Who else is a fan of this truly beautiful music?
Here are some playlists to better exemplify what I mean:

reminiscing2004 reacted to zombieparadise in How come Mejibray are more popular than a lot of VK bands from this decade?
I think it's a fair blanket statement to suggest that this scene attracts many 'damaged' individuals. I'll probably take heat for that, but it's so obvious.
I like it for the music and 'originality' of it all personally. Looks are fun, but after listening to this shit for a decade I'm past the stage of imagining bandomen are my friends lol.

reminiscing2004 reacted to saishuu in Vidoll
Their music up until V.I.D (plus Puzzle ring) should be obligatory for every VK fan regardless of the time they get into the scene. They definitely had one of the best indie careers of any band.

This is a really cool idea for a list. I love it.
I do have to ask though, why do you say Miko's explanation of their name makes no sense? "to leave behind the proof of living" literally, traces of existence = exist trace. Yes, it may be a bit oversimplified but makes sense so me...
I put other -even though it kind of goes with Kagrra,'s comma- is the period.

reminiscing2004 reacted to Hohchicano96 in What are you listening to?
I would like to thank @reminiscing2004 so much for including this song in their trade-off; ever since I've been made aware of it, I sobbingly sing along to it whenever I hear the intro. The album, Just Got Back From the Discomfort—We're Alright, that includes this track is a journey worth taking.
