The Blair Witch Project is finally(?) getting a sequel, and this time we're talking a proper sequel. Now usually I wouldn't give a flying fuck about something like this, but this is a bit different. Why you ask? Because it's directed by Adam Wingard and written by Simon Barrett. You don't need no other reason than that. I actually believe this is gonna be great.
 
Seems like a few selected people have already seen it and the reviewers just doesn't seem to be able to stop praising it. I usually don't give a fuck about reviewers, but I have faith in this film. Can easily turn out to be the horror film of the year.
 

 

There is nothing better than waking up early to some nice coffee and listening over all the new tunes you just got.

I read a particularly interesting and rather depressing article regarding Spangle call Lilli line (who, for the uninitiated, are a popular and long-running indie band) and it really put into perspective how even an influential and highly-respected outfit like them aren't even close to being able to survive off of the band alone and have to resort to working day jobs that ultimately end up taking up 99% of their time; especially as responsibilities like parenthood slowly start creeping in. Reading things like that makes me slightly more forgiving towards groups like 凛として時雨 for basically just selling themselves out and going down the generic anisong route, even though it still sucks either way.

Oh great, now they sound like a billion other bands..............
 
I see they changed their name from katakana too, hmm.

I am actually enjoying these previews...Im not sure why.

Morrigan has announced that their first album 『トランキライザ』(tranquilizers) will be released in November.
 
A single called 『HEART』 will  also be released in October. It will be available through Little Hearts' shops.

I saw this with a friend. Before we went inside the theater I think we were both going to say that we had heard the movie sucked but we decided against it lol. Anyways it was better than I thought. The aliens seemed really cliche though. I never watched the first one so I didn't understand any of the references. I wonder if they will wait another 20 years before releasing a sequel.

I now get to give dogs a bath and trim their fur for a living.... I'm living the dream, guys!

We try to keep the playlist as balanced as possible. normally we play every band just once during a show. Exceptions are if we give a review about a show or an album or something like this :).

That's a pretty sweet setlist

So after listening to the itunes promo for good portion of my shift, here's my initial thoughts on UTAFUMI:
 
 
This song is a banger and by banger i mean that Its pretty head-bang inducing. The "gang vocals" part gives it that extra rawness, something i feel that's been missing in  Dir en grey's music for awhile now . The added backing guitar during the chorus and other parts of the song does a great job at adding some "pizzazz" so the song isn't just simple ass guitar parts (which it is). With all of that said, if you separate the fact that this was composed by Dir en grey and has some stellar mixing and mastering, its clear to see that this track could've been done by any shit tier indies VK band. That's now dated this track comes off as.  I was very wrong to call this an ARCHE left over in the beginning. ARCHE, despite my gripes with it had some elements of growth. UTAFUMI is multiple steps below that. There is no growth here. Only severe regression. I even have a hard time trying to figure out where these supposed VULGAR vibes come from. IDT you can even put UTAFUMI in a vulgar playlist and tell me that it would mesh together perfectly. Same goes for any other era that ppl may try to categorize this with...
 
Once again, this is a banger but its nothing special. At all.

It's a few things. The feedback break after the intro is longer, the first verse is longer, and the section after the first chorus is longer. 
 
As a whole, this single is disappointing. I was hoping Kuukoku wasn't going to be just Sugizo playing over the album track, but oh well. Also, Revelation remix is absolute garbage. Go back to reimagining older tracks please, because I didn't miss the era of singles coming with DEG dookie remixes. 

Buck Tick is amazing. I love catchy tunes.
