hmm I wonder if any bands lost popularity with non-Japanese people O.o

pop is huge in japan D; i guess i should say "known" instead of popular XD I've seen alot of bands I've never heard of fill larger areas (not like stadium size but a 1000 or so ppl) I remember hearing about Kiryu and Dog and thought they were new (circa 2013) and was shocked to find they had been around years before.

Often times, I get my news about bands new releases and activities from a certain Asian news site and from the massive post from fangirls on tumblr. This is mainly done with these bigger, more popular bands like The Gazette and Dir En Grey. One thing I find lacking in these convos is the fact that, popular or not, no one really gives a review of the band's music. No one says "Oh this album is as bad at the last one." or " They don't sound like they use to anymore." One thing I never hear about is how popular the band is now. There's not mention of "This old band is loosing popularity due to the fail of their last album" or even " They're calling this group the next ___". so with that in mind, speaking in terms of sales and overall popularity in Japan, what bands have gain or lost their popularity ? Bands like Dog in the PWO, Daizystripper, Arlequin, D.I.D. , kameleo, etc.

i wonder even more about why people call sala a kusomen oh there's a joke going around about "better than what kuina did" or "at least its not as bad as kuina" I wonder why kuina is considered "bad" . Heard about Qualia is bad but never heard of them.

I've never heard of them D: anytime a bandmate leaves or the group goes on hiatus, I keep thinking "Yep its the end" even bands like SuG or when Mayu went on hiatus with Daizystripper I thought they were disbanding. I wonder why mayu left. If it was to play guitar better, I always thought he sounded good considering he's been in the band long enough. :S

is it me or does ryuto look either like Sage (a9/Alice Nine) or Ill (fest Vainqueur)I've seen him before but I can't quit put my finger on it

yes! esp after vivi joined. I miss Moran but with vivi in another band I'm happy I hate looking at all those pics in my jrock folder and realizing about 80% of those bands have disbanded or someone else . I just hope fest vainqueur never break up D:

arlequin, DID, dadaroma and Avelcain are the new bands I like. We should start a twitter wave for #saveAvelcain XD its hard to guess with some bands since many unexpectedly break up Im not a huge fan of rono cro (I like harder bands) but I don't think I've heard any updates on them D8

I think if Jui takes a vaca for a few months to rest his precious voice , it would be good but often breaks leads people to think the worst (esp with health problems) If Jui ever leaves/retires, I'm sure Jun and Toya will just disband. Gotcharocka just isn't the same without our 3 dorks D; I know people thought Anli Pollicino was going to disband,dunno why. Maybe they got their name mixed up with another. I'm curious know about Avelcain or worst - Golden Bomber (they're overworking the boys D8 ) I was shocked about Lycaon but finding out out Scrooge-chan (manager) I could understand. Femme Fatale blew my mind, though D:

I know this is a depressing thread XD but with rono cro disbanding, lycaon, bfn, LOG, so many more. WHo do you think is the next band to disband or next member to leave? personal predictions: 1. Daizystripper- their last album didn't sell too good compared to the others, I can only remember one song off it and their popularity has declined a bit 2. blu-billion 3. gotcharocka 4. reign 5. D.I.D. i honestly hope none of these breaks up but you just get this feeling based upon record sales, how bands act towards each other or other factors. So whats your prediction?

Maybe I've been confused about the Vk meaning. Most of the time when people mention viusal kei they're referring to harder bands like The Gazette, Dadaroma, Dir en Grey, Born,etc. In visual baka on yt these bands are the rock-is levels (like Royz) The "Looking like popstars but rocking out" Always seemed like to me, they group the same sound to each other (Dog with Buglug, Codomo Dragon with Royz,etc) o.o

time to shake things up: ~as much as I love An cafe, theyre not VK (oshare kei but not in the same category as Dadaroma, seriously ) ~ Alice Nine/A9, The Gazette and Daizystripper's newer music just don't feel like them anymore. It just sounds mass produced (ie the manager's album not the band) ~ I think the Gazette has turn into money hungry assholes (their clothing line , black moral is just too expensive) ~ having a dad who was diagnosed with Schizophrenia, when I see Akane (DID), I just wanna hug him. ~ Some VK bands seem to think they're X-Japan level Gods despite having one album out. ~ Groups that has been here for less than 4 years acting like drama queens is just sad ~ Ikuma (Reign, formerly AND eccentric agent) and Nimo (A-ace and 4heads or whatever they call themselves) I would go out and have dinner with. ~ Nocturnal Bloodlust singing Taylor Swift song, just .dont. NB.just.dont.do.that.again.OMG ~ I like golden bombers music but hate the fact they're insanely popular (like the richest band level) yet Sho is the only musician in the band ~ I hate the fact they're considered Visual Kei to..... ~ Lycaon and Femme Fatale's break up. WHY? COME BACK SATOSHI!!!! I MISS THAT SLASH HAT. Kick Iori out, keep the tunes (or bring back Schwartz Stein) ~ as much as it may make me seem like a turd, Honestly the first thing that lures me in as a soon to be fan is how the band looks. The cute one will make me search their songs, the hunksicle will make me buy their album even if their music makes no sense. I base bands off their looks at first. The music keeps me glued to their YT channels. (Which explains why so many bands I end up hearing about and loving is AFTER they've disbanded) ~ I'm a sucker for watching 23 minute long YT videos of VK guys from Goemon/BP/DCR records doing stupid shit and not knowing wtf any of them are saying. Seriously, I've watched Visual Baka and just wanna pinch Mei's (Dog in the PWO) cheeks ~ I have illegally downloaded a ton of band albums/minis/maxis/singles. Mainly cos the bands either disbanded, the album is no longer available or I dont wanna spend $20-30 on 3 songs. ~ Musicians from good bands go to much crappier bands after a disbandment/ leaving D: ~ and lastly, good new bands disbanding while generic/crappy/lost its spark/bands I once loved are still around. (eyes SuG, The Gazette, Jupiter, and some more)
