dude I fucking love vaporwave *_* although I don't listen to it as much as I do vapor trap, that's something that I've long been craving for in music - something that's chill, but not at all boring, something to listen to when you're high as shit and falling through the clouds. If someone told me that there would be chillout versions of rap music, I'd laughed in their face. Although it's tiresome that the same soundbytes are used in every new song I listen to now, I still find joy in listening to it nonetheless. I also really love the nostalgic aesthetic that's rampant throughout these videos. Messy VHS edits of Simpsons, or other stuff like Dragon Ball, etc., are just as interesting to watch as listening to the music itself. Here's the best vapor trap playlist that actually started it all for me (below). I remember seeing this thumbnail and generally being like, "Why the fuck is Youtube recommending me Simpsons videos with unicode titles and 420 references???" Since then, I've seen more Simpsonwave without realizing how much I've seen, maybe a lot, I know. Anyway, I'll stop blabbing. Also, a really brilliant chillwave mix: I could recommend more mixes, but this is all I can think of at the moment. I'll update when I find those said mixes.

Starwave Records posted this cryptic image on their Twitter today...more details will be announced on August 24. Maybe it's an upcoming project of sorts? Or maybe just an overblown instore/threeman live event? Who knows??? Also, the long-haired guy is obviously Kakeru (Scarlet Valse)...take a guess at the other fellers here~ it's Lyubi (Mikansei Alice) and Airo (Under Fall Justice) 😛

ペンデュラム (Pendulum) Dr.蘭 (ran) has been fired on August 17 after he ceased communication with the band. On August 5, Ran called the band up, saying he wanted to leave because he had no motivation and "thinking about the band makes my head hurt" (according to what he apparently said at an instore event(?)). It's also noted that he was never apologetic about it. The other members tried to contact him to talk it over, but by then, Ran was radio silent. The band decided to dismiss him today, and will continue activities with a support drummer.

I've never been familiar with DEZERT (so this review *may* be inaccurate in some parts...), and I liked the album samples a bit, but once I remember that they were compared to the likes of Merry, and many other darker bands, that changes my perspective a bit. Almost every band that joins a bigger label develops a more lighter sound to appeal to the mainstream audience, while alienating their own longtime fans with the sudden style change. It's heartbreaking to see another one bite the dust. The one song that I can recall enjoying a bit was "Hentai", which is obviously not included in this album. The fact that there are NO harsh vocals whatsoever in this album is damning in contrast. I wish DEZERT the very best with their success, but TODAY marks the day when they decided to mesh with other popular bands with the same cookie-cutter pop rock sound as opposed to their more hardcore upbringing.
