  1. Hello everybody!

Trades can be considered, mainly interested in early 90:s visual kei (mainly compilations) and 70:s/80:s japanese power pop/synth/new wave/punk/experimental etc.

  2. A bunch of singles arrived!

    2F9jHPT.jpg

I forget the name of the top left one (and I'm too lazy to figure it out now), but it's a sweet and slightly creepy tribute song to actress Sophie Marceau. It's also featured on an album called "Viva Sophie!" which seems to have been put out to appease Marceau-otakus of the day. Kinda amazing that this was ever released actually ...I mean, OK if some stalker is sitting and recording this stuff in his or hers basement, but to have it released on record (on a major label no less).

    Actually, this is AWESOME!!!

MISS ORANGE SHOCK is really cool techno-pop. Pretty tough pull IMO. It was comped not too long ago.

On Express, which was a subsidiary to Toshiba.

SERIKA WITH DOG and SHELTER are on Young Plaza, which was a televised talent show broadcast in the Kansai area during the late 70:s and early-to-mid 80:es. Every week the winners of the talent show got to release a single. Loads of hit and miss of course, but it's always fun to give Young Plaza singles a try when they pop up (I'd estimated the pressing size were in the range of 300-500 copies each).

Talked to a japanese collector about Young Plaza and he estimated there were roughly 400 titles or so in the series T_T

This shit is worse than Pokémon...

MIRRORS shouldn't need much further presentation, classic Tokyo rockers band on the legendary Gozira label.

Awesome monotonous proto-punk/pre-post-punk jam!  "Out of Order" is their second single and probably my favorite by them. Wouldn't mind a copy of their first 7" ("Shogeki-X") though I suspect it'll be quite a while 'til I can get my hands on it (if ever!)

The "ひとりぼっち" single is by a group called I. Sweet and melancholic power pop. Both sides are great!!

Can be tricky to find, but shouldn't make too much of a dent in the wallet.

Lower right is THE BEATS debut single. Looking to find their second 7" for a reasonable price as well as their other single released under the name AROWANA (at either a reasonable or unreasonable price).

THE BADGE are trending hard over here. KILLLLLLLER MOD!!!  Need to find more, MORE, MORE of their stuff. Actually almost considering to not be a total nerd and grab the readily availiable reissues instead of hunting down beat ass originals for ridiculous prices. Almost...

Finally, super-stoked to finally be able to cross off FILMS second single from the ol' wantlist.

Absolutely amazing new wave with vocoders and lots of synth and stuff. I'll put this up on my tumblr in a while, but in the meanwhile there's a snippet availiable here.

Hm, this turned out lenghtier than I had planned ...perhaps a bit too excited over all these engraved discs of plastic.

But, anyway - hooray for singles!

  3. Getting dangerously used to having a fresh box of records to pick up at the post office each and every week.

Japanese dudes need to chill with putting up cool stuff for sale ...my wallet could use a break T_T

    yMv40z4.jpg

Cassette is GRIMM THE CAPSULE/CAM'FLAGE split. Haven't listened to it yet - really curious about the CAM'FLAGE side. Absolutely love their track on the "Cry Max Pleasure ~Break on Through to the Nuclear Bandits" comp!

THE SYMPHONY is really nice beat punk/power-pop. Not sure about the pressing size on this, but supposedly the band only managed to move circa 30 copies of this back in the day. Definitely deserves more attention than that, at least the B-side is pretty damn incredible!

RIVER CHILD ("Go A Way") is seriously the softest shit ever. "Last Order" is by some band named HANK. A couple of decent pop 'n' roll numbers, but more importantly the source of some great engrish:

    Peo48e3.jpg

Right now I'm listening to the ZIG ZAG album - total monster!!!

Great punk band from Kansai. Supported THE RAMONES when they did a tour of Japan back in the early eighties.

...and last but not least - THE CHAPPYS hard to find debut EP!!!!!

  4. Current gear:

    Warwick Corvette Standard 5-stringed bass

Kasuga - unknown 80:s lawsuit model bass

    Ibanez RG550 guitar

    Torque T1001EB bass combo

    Korg Monotribe

    Dream gear:

Rickenbacker 4001 or 4003 bass (or a good quality Japanese knock off ...may have the chance to grip one soon).

Various random drum machines, keyboards and synthesizers and stuff

A big fat modular Moog or Buchla system would be nice, but yeah, they're a bit out of my league to say the least.

Also, finding an old WASP at a somewhat reasonable price would be awesome!

All this of course require I stop spending all my money on records and booze and crap

  5. The two on the top right... are they related at all, or just happened to use the same city image? lol

Haha, well spotted! AFAIK these aren't related with each another, so I suppose it's just a coincidence.

Is this some sort of famous Japanese cityscape, or did these guys just pull out the same stock image for their picture sleeves? :D

  6. Got a box of records in the mail yesterday - yay! Couple of duds as usual, but here are the keepers:

    n051S8e.jpg

Plugging a few more holes in my collection of 90:s VK compilations with "Zeroism" and "Turn Over Peacock Version".

Neither are super-essential or anything, but what the hell... gotta catch 'em all :D

"今夜 Goodnight Tonight" is a mild ass bomb! Hard-hitting power pop with some definitive sleazy bar vibes.

Nounashi approved, of course! This was released with two covers, I think the one I've got is the more common one.

FIGHTING CORPORATION BAND is, like so many others, yet another Nounashi recommendation.

Hard to describe really ...catchy as hell, but also pretty fucking stupid at the same time.

SEIEI JACK (or SEXEI JACK EXHIBITION or THE JOKE PROJECT ...impossible to tell which is the proper band name) is utterly demented. Sounds like a japanese take on THE RESIDENTS circa "Third Reich 'n Roll" but sloppier and (possibly) even weirder.

WHOOPEE! is post-ロンメル (not to be confused with  the metal band).

    Details here: http://blog.livedoor.jp/nounashi/archives/1964751.html

Really, really good bubblegum pop with vocoders and synth toms! Way better than expected.

Together with SEIEI JACK one of the best blind buys in quite a while!

And finally, I mustered up the balls and cash to splurge out for a looooooong time want of mine....

    十万馬力 - "Medical Mystery Tour"!!!

Very rare private press, looks like the band was a bunch of students or something.

I like to think they were a bunch of medical students (hence the name) who got together and just recorded a record for the hell of it. But yeah, I don't really know anything about the group at all - except that they totally shred!!

All kinds of songs ...scorching lo-fi punk, straight ahead power pop rockers, semi-ballads that morph into a guitar fuzz fest. It's all very shambolic and trebly and homemade and underproduced... and.. and.. completely wonderful ~♫

  7. Old school Japanese goth bands had WTF-inducing vocals on lock. For example:

    SADIE SADS - Angora

NUBILE - Spyral Totem Toler Than East Poll

AUTO-MOD - Deathtopia (couldn't find "時の葬列" on YT which IMO is a better example of vocalist Genet's goat-braying antics)

Finally - a personal all time fave ...sweetest and creepiest vocals you'll ever hear:
