  1. Finally have a translation of the hiatus message if anyone's interested (thanks again Sebatian!):

”We would like to dearly thank everyone for their continued support. With this message we'd like to share something very important with all of you.

By the end of 2016, we have decided that we will temporarily seize our band activities.
Based on respect for our members health in recent years, for our goal to head towards a 20th anniversary, and furthermore to also maintain our quality as a band we have reached this conclusion.
We believe that this break will prove worthwhile for both our members and staff to regain their focus, and on the occasion when we resume our activities we'd like to show that worth to you as well.
Although Nightmare's activity will be put on hold, the members will separately continue on with both solo and support activities.
As for the period of the break and when we will resume our activites we will let you know when the occasion calls.
To all our fans cheering for us, we'd like to send our deepest apologies for any inconvenience this may cause you and also ask for your understanding in this matter.”

This clears up that it's not until 2020 but sooner than that (a year or two?). Once I've had some time to think about this, the more sense this all makes. Only two people will be effected by this (Yomi's serious voice problems and Hitsugi's hernia problems, which is even numbing his fingers at this point), but it's very likely all of them judging from how tense things have gotten in the last few years.

The main reason I believe they had to release three best albums and two singles before the big announcement was possibly to get out of Avex's contract. I doubt that label will keep them any way with this hiatus (they're pretty much against year(s) long breaks). Considering they have such shitty PR and the management is not as good as it should be Nightmare will only benefit by changing labels. Yeah the next label might not be the greatest but it's better than Avex working them to death..

I hope they come back on top and better than ever after this hiatus!

-had to edit that, got pretty full-on negative (which some people around here do a good enough job already at), which is something they do not need right now (being in a band for over 16 years can be nerve wrecking for anyone)-

  2. I could defiantly tell that they eventually would go on hiatus, which is for the best and is good news for their future. They defiantly deserve it and I hope for the best for Yomi and the others.

As for the reason, it could most likely be about Yomi or even Hitsugi's spinal issues. For all we know it could be any one of them since this hiatus is aimed at someone's health and not the quality of their music (like the hive mind set over here seems to assume).

2020 is a long ways off with even Ni~ya and Hitsugi both crying when making the hiatus announcement, it must be serious. I know the Japanese music industry loves working people to death over there, so this was a wise decision before something more serious happened.

  3. At least it's not that cheap halloween sound again, it's not bad just nothing very memorable

Funny, considering I like that "cheap halloween sound" of their past music.

It's nice to see them do something different with this new song (even if I'm not liking it at the moment), that's for sure.

  4.

    SCUMS is HIGHLY underrated.

Indeed. It's pretty funny, but at first I couldn't stand that album, now I can't help but adore and appreciate a majority of it's tracks.

The people that think Nightmare lacks qualitry praise SCUMS. This is the sad world we live in.

I think some people in this forum has a problem with mistaking heavyness and roughness with quality.

It does seem like the messy heaviness trend has been over-saturating the market, and it's a bit sad to see. I also do agree that it's sad that people won't give the other newer albums a more open minded and a fair approach, but it still doesn't take away at how well SCUMS is as an overall album (even more so WITH the b-sides).

As for ranking the Avex albums, SCUMS would be a bit far down on the list (this is without b-sides of course):

    1. NIGHTMARE 2. TBONTB 3. SCUMS 4. CARPE DIEM

I know this ranking might be a bit opposite of a lot of people here, but the more I listen to the Avex albums, the more impressive the arrangements and deep personalized lyrics sound. It's a little shocking to see these albums get bashed as much as they do (especially the half-assed non-stop bashing of Yomi's vocals), but then again, fan bases are usually always bitching and moaning about one thing or the other. Rather it be them not recreating that 'one special album' again or them not 'evolving enough'. It's never good enough for them, period. The only thing that matters to me is that I enjoy them as much as I do. Let the others drench themselves with doom and gloom while following this band (instead of y'know moving on...).

    They'll understand with age.

Completely agree with this. I do feel like given enough time and these albums will be listened to with new listeners with unbiased ears.

After the shitty recording of the Rakuen single (I still blame their recording studio), I thought maybe they were going to keep releasing sub par quality tracks.

I don't really hear the "shitty recording" sound of the recent tracks, but then again, I might be too biased at this point to hear it. lol

  5. I think the I am a Hero live action movie either just came out or is about to be released. Though I'm not sure if that's what you meant.

Holy crap! I never even knew about this until now, so hyped! Just saw some pictures of the movie and it looks not bad by the looks of it.

    I hope this doesn't suck.

  6. I should be getting the best albums soon (which I'll slowly upload).
Might have to add that Awakening's covers beat a majority of their recent single covers.

As for Yomi, I really hope they take an extended hiatus after the expected upcoming album, Awakening of Clowns tour and the new album tour. While he's recovering, it gives a good chance for Ruka to focus on continuing Legendary Six Nine, Hitsugi along with KNZ with Gremlins, with Sakito helping composing songs for random artists (like Asagi's solo debut) and lastly for Ni-ya who can act as support bass for other bands like he used too.

Otherwise this constant scheduling will more than likely have a negative impact on him and his voice.

Then again, this is Japan's music industry where overwork is commonplace and is expected there. :/
