So yes, this is Primus

Ripped from wiki:

Primus is an American rock band formed in 1984, currently composed of vocalist and bassist Les Claypool, guitarist Larry "Ler" LaLonde, and drummer Jay Lane. Primus originally formed with Claypool, Todd Huth and Lane, with the latter two departing the band before Primus's debut release Suck on This, being replaced by drummer Tim "Herb" Alexander and Larry LaLonde. During this lineup, the band released four studio albums: Frizzle Fry, featuring "John the Fisherman", Sailing the Seas of Cheese, featuring "Jerry Was a Race Car Driver" and "Tommy the Cat", Pork Soda featuring "My Name Is Mud" and Tales from the Punchbowl, featuring their most commercially successful single, "Wynona's Big Brown Beaver". In 1996, Alexander left Primus and was replaced by Bryan "Brain" Mantia, with whom they would later release Brown Album and Antipop before placing Primus on hiatus in 2000. They were also known for creating the original theme for "South Park" in 1997.

Primus are characterized by their irreverent and often non-serious approach to music. They have released some of their records on Claypool's Prawn Song Records label, the title of which is a parody of Led Zeppelin's Swan Song label.

Bass rocks in their songs + that frickin funny psychovibe in their songs is LOVE  , no wonder that I like them

If you want to check em out, then you should try "Sailing the Seas of Cheese" first.

My personal favorite:

Any Primus fans around here?

One word: awesome.

My favorite albums are probably Frizzly Fry, Sailing the Seas of Cheese, and Pork Soda. But the other stuff is really good too, like Tales from the Punchbowl - that's one trippy piece of music.

Good to know I'm not the only one here who likes them. xD

I might or might not be able to attend their concert in Vienna, keeping my fingers crossed~

The new album leaked a while ago... any opinions?

Personally, I was a bit scared after hearing the preview track (Tragedy's a' Comin') but thankfully all my fears were unfounded: 12 years after the (IMO) scattered/hit-and-miss Antipop album, they really delivered a consistent sounding, solid piece of music that I'll be happy to spin again and again. Some really cool stuff in there, especially the double-freaky combo of Eyes of the Squirrel and Jilly's on Smack in the middle of the album. Although I admit, I had to get used to that "bleep-bloop" effect on Les' bass in a couple of songs, lol.

Definitely gonna buy a copy when it comes out! ...and I won't miss out next time they come here to tour.

Praise the lard, new Primus album is on its way! Primus & the Chocolate Factory with the Fungi Ensemble will be released on October 21, it will be a sort of tribute to the classic Willy Wonka movie. It was recorded by the "classic lineup" of Claypool, LaLonde and Herb, also featuring the talents of Critters Buggin percussionist Mike Dillon and Frog Brigade cellist Sam Bass. Les has described the material as "like one of the early Peter Gabriel records meets Dark Side of the Moon meets the Residents" and mentioned that Herb used a very unusual percussion setup for the recording instead of a regular drumkit (basically a big pile of stuff to bang on xD).

Tracklist:

01. Hello Wonkites
02. Candy Man
03. Cheer Up Charlie
04. Golden Ticket
05. Lermaninoff
06. Pure Imagination
07. Oompa Augustus
08. Semi-Wondrous Boat Ride
09. Oompa Violet
10. I Want It Now
11. Oompa Veruca
12. Wonkmobile
13. Oompa TV
14. Farewell Wonkites

I'm not really feelin' the new album (well it's not rly "new Primus-written material" anyway), but this is amazing:

tl;dr: if you find a golden vinyl version of the latest album, you get free Primus tickets for life~ 8D

Anyone digging the new project of Sean Lennon and Les Claypool, a.k.a. The Claypool Lennon Delirium? I'm only through my first listen, but I found it boring and almost completely worthless so far. :-( Maybe I just need to get on the proper wavelength, but on first run these songs seem too same-y and repetitive... except for maybe a punchier number or two. Oh well, I might warm up to it after some time...

On the other hand, I've been jammin' Claypool's various projects, (almost) all great stuff! I didn't listen to a couple of these before, and was pleasantly surprised, especially at Colonel Claypool's Bucket of Bernie Brains. Trippy & jam-tastic! Duo de Twang is also immensely fun if you just wanna bob your head to some chunky blues-y stuff.

I've also started to appreciate the last Primus album (the Chocolate Factory one) a bit more. It's got some mighty weird atmosphere, that's for sure, haha.

Saw them live twice, each time was awesomeeee. A lot of weed in the air, but go figure lol. I also met Larry a few years back, who was cool as hell. He signed my cassette copy of "Tales from the Punchbowl" ^___^.
