Recommended Posts

How are cali gari brutal

at all?

well you read the Topic starter explains what kind of brutal he/she refer to.

fast/aggresive guitar/drums/bass, etc.

and to me it is brutal enough, but not death metal brutal, i beg to differ.

WHat's brutal and not depends on the one that hear. I'm sure that brutality for me and brutality for you is two different things. Just like like what's heavy and not is different from person to person. I know a lot here who consider Deathgaze both brutal and heavy. To my ears they're not close to being either. I know a lot of you consider a lot of what Lynch., Gazette, Dir en grey, Dio - Distraught Overlord, Unsraw and so on both heavy and even brutal. To me none of those are comming close to any of that. I don't consider Cannibal Corpse, Nile, Behemoth or any of those Death Metal bands brutal either. They're not even close. And for the OP brutality is obviously something quite different than for most, it seems. And if I found 5 songs that I consider brutal I'm sure msot of you would have laughed at me, because to you it's not brutal at all.

I need more than fast guitars and drums and gutural voice/death growls. That alone just isn't enough for me to consider somrthing brutal.

Quite shocked to see bands such as Sadie and Cali Gari mentioned though. I mean, Sadie and Cali Gari?

My coolface sense is tingling...

There are some "brutal" vk bands, but they usually suck hard. And no, Sadie and Since1889 aren't brutal.

DEATHGAZE has like two brutal songs, and though 37564. could be considered brutal, at the same time cali≠gari has songs like 舌先3分サイズ, so not brutal either. Your opinion also became invalid the second you actually suggested cali≠gari is an oshare kei band.

ANTI FEMINISM is the only band mentioned that could actually be considered brutal as a band, (= not based on couple of songs) but they are more of a hardcore punk -band than a visual kei band.

Listen to Cannibal Corpse or something, that's brutal. Sadie most definitely isn't.

Also, inb4 someone suggesting idiot.

EDIT: Missed the part where you said you don't care what the choruses are like. That makes some bands listed more brutal-ish, but still, meh. Personally, I don't agree with your definition of brutal music at all, but I guess everyone can think what they want about this stuff.

Still, lol.

Okay what about Yaminade how can you not make mention of the fact that I included them. Seriously if you don't think Yaminade is Brutal. Then you most be one hardcore motherfucker.

Anti Feminism IS a Hardcore Punk band. But they are also a visual kei band. Just take a look at their pictures and iamge.

And Cannibal Corpse brutal? Don't make me laugh!

And Yaminade has NOTHING to do with the word brutal if you ask me. Ahahah!

Also, inb4 someone suggesting idiot.

But it's true! :lol::lol::lol:

Anyway, depending on the definition of "brutal" I'd probably add Aliene Ma'riage, especially their later stuff. But it's all pretty relative anyway.

Cali Gari yes brutal but a little on the Oshare side, which reminds me Dali fuckin' brutal shit.

There is so much wrong with this comment I don't even.

cali≠gari maybe have 2 or 3 "...brutal" songs (i.e. ギロ??ン~Test Pattern.#1~...actually can't think of any more) out of a catalogue of at least 250. Oshare? They are the pioneers of eroguro, about as far from Oshare as you can get in Japanese music.

And I agree, Dali are shit.

As for your list:

I think early, early Kuroyume were pretty brutal and D'espairsRay, but I don't know . . .

Most visual kei bands I care about aren't the brutal ones. :(

Stop it guys

This.

Guys...just no. I enjoy these types of threads but only when they're done right. If this was changed from "most brutal" to "heaviest" then we have a great thread. None of these bands in here (save maybe GREGORY and some of DEATHGAZE) can be considered anything remotely brutal. Everything else is just heavy. Heavy =/= brutal.

And OP's definition of brutal is closer to heavy or dense or harsh. I wonder if his definition of heavy is brutal xD.

But OT: If I had to pick one I'd probably second GREGORY or something. Most people don't look to VK for br00tal music. The bands that try usually end up failing.
