so as a part of a little tradition I've started here around a year ago or so I keep tracking DIR EN GREY tour and event setlists with some interesting details. TOUR2012 IN SITU will be no different. DIR EN GREY、復活の夜。全世界待望のツアー開幕！追加公演も決定！

2012年10日10日、東京・SHIBUYA-AXにて、DIR EN GREYのツアー『TOUR2012 IN SITU』が開幕を迎えた。改めて説明するまでもないはずだが、フロントマンである京の喉の不調により表立った活動をしばらく停止していた彼らにとって、これは国内外を通じて去る1月以来のライヴということになる。そしてこの公演は、彼らのオフィシャルFCである「a knot」会員のみを対象に行なわれたもの。関係者によれば従来の会員限定公演の際の平均を大幅に上回る申し込みがあり、会場の外にはチケットを入手できないながらも、なんとか同じ瞬間を共有しようと駆けつけたファンの姿も少なくなかったという。

ライヴは確実に新しさを盛り込みながらも、あくまで現時点での最新アルバムにあたる『DUM SPIRO SPERO』を軸としながら展開された。まさにこれが単純な“帰還”ではなく、これまでずっと続いてきた流れの“続き”であることを無言のうちに証明するかのように。今後、ツアー自体は年末まで続くことになるだけに、具体的なセットリストなどについてはこの場では公表せずにおくが、『DUM SPIRO SPERO』の収録曲のなかでもこれまでずっと演奏されてこなかった「DIABOLOS」と「VANITAS」が満を持して披露されたこと、そして古くからのファンには愛着深いはずの「秒「」深」がアンコール時に炸裂した事実については、やはり報告しておきたい。ちなみにその「秒「」深」は、12月19日に発売を控えている待望のニュー・シングル、「輪郭」にカップリング収録されている「霧と繭」と同様に、1997年発表のインディーズ作品、『MISSA』に収録されていた楽曲。かつて、2002年発表のミニ・アルバム『six Ugly』のなかでもリメイクされているが、今回はオリジナルのキーに則ったヴァージョンでの披露となっていた。

緊張感漂う演奏、映像を多用しながらの演出にも当然ながら特筆すべきものがあったが、それ以上にこの場で伝えておくべきなのは、不在期間を経てきた京のヴォーカル・パフォーマンスがさらなる進化の兆しを見せていたことだろう。また、当然のごとく観衆の視線も彼の一挙手一投足に集中することになるわけだが、過剰なほどの熱に満ちたその反応ぶりも素晴らしかった。正直なところ、この規模の会場であれほどの歓声を耳にしたことは過去になかった気がするし、終演アナウンスが流れてからも止むことのない手拍子と拍手、そしてDIR EN GREYの名を呼ぶコールには、おそらくメンバーたち自身にも感じるものがあったに違いない。ときおり扇動的な言葉を発する以外、ほとんどMCらしいMCをしないことでも知られる京が、公演終盤にふと「お久しぶりです」と口にしたことも、おそらくそれと無関係ではないだろう。しかも、それに続いた言葉は「べつに言うことはないけど」。京が京のままであり、DIR EN GREYがDIR EN GREYのままであることを、その瞬間に改めて実感したファンもいたのではないだろうか。

前述のとおり、この貴重な機会の目撃者となり得たのは、ごく一部の幸運なFC会員に他ならない。所属事務所には、チケットを入手できなかったファンから、いわゆるパブリック・ビューイングなどを求める声も殺到していたという。そして、そうした要望に応えるかのように、この忘れ難い夜の模様を収録した映像作品が、「a knot」限定DVDとしてリリースされることが決定した。もちろんこれからの新規入会者にも購入可能とのことなので、是非ご注目いただきたい。

また、同時に届いたのが、この『TOUR2012 IN SITU』の追加公演に関する情報だ。こちらは12月4日と6日の両日、東京・新木場STUDIO COASTで開催されるもの。すでに都内での公演については、12月25日の東京・国際フォーラム・ホールA公演のチケットが完売に至っているが、こちらも当然ながらソールドアウト必至といえる。確実に押さえておきたいところだ。加えて、「輪郭」の収録内容などについての具体的新情報も続々と届きつつある今日この頃。DIR EN GREYの“今”からは、やはり目が離せない。もちろんこれからの、このツアーの行方についても。

nice, looking at those setlists it seems they finally stopped clinging onto uroboros that much and got to terms with MOO . i mean i like uroboros and all, but since moo-release up until now pretty much every concert was still just uroboros+tiny bits of other albums. now it is much more traditional with mainly the most recent stuff with a nice mixture of old and semi-old stuff added inbetween. thumbs up for that.

only those (Symphonic Ver.)'s quite bother me...

judging from the amon symph version they are sloppy half-assed and crappy aranged midi-orchestras slanted on top of an unalterated metal-track.

for a band that otherwise puts that much effort into arranging their songs and sounds i find it frustrating that they let their songs butcher by some random studio-intern who just got his first VSL-Orchestra-Library Demo-Version.

i'm not generally opposed to symphonic versions (they can be really great at times), but if one does this i prefer them done properly and not just throwing in some random violins+outofplace intro.

well maybe the other ones are better than amon, i doubt it though...

meanwhile, some dude went to see the guys and had this to say about DIABOLOS live:

"It’s nice but not specifically better live than on the CD like some songs are. The live version is just as long too. I don’t think it sounds that different from the CD at the moment but as they play it more they may start to tailor it more to work better live as they do with most songs.The crowd is not quite into it yet so I think it will get better. Tonight they were far more into it than tuesday so…"
