  1. I'd have to go with Spilled Milk, since I don't know any of the other songs on that list.

    1. Jeepta - Roppouzensho

    2. AFI - Endlessly She Said

    3. GLAY - Way of Difference

    4. Michael Monroe - Half the Way

    5. Faith No More - From Out of Nowhere (live)

    6. Warrant - Down Boys

    7. GLAY - Mugen no deja vu kara

    8. Love/Hate - Tumbleweed

    9. Atsushi Sakurai - X-Lover

    10. Down - Mourn

  2. Getting back to the Adore Delano song: The vocals feel a little generic - I wouldn't be able to tell who it was if I heard the song on the radio next to a bunch of pop artists - but I don't dislike them, and the rap-ish bits were kind of cute too, so I'll say 7/10.

  3. I'd pick the same song, since I don't know any of the others.

    1. The Birthday - Red Eye

    2. Weezer - Falling For You

    3. BUCK-TICK - My Funny Valentine

    4. Rose Noire - Hollyc

    5. Thee Michellle Gun Elephant - Boogie

    6. Prince - When You Were Mine

    7. Saigon Kick - Month of Sundays

    8. Sawao Yamanaka - silver moonlight

    9. Micro - 4 Seasons

    10. Perfume - Take me Take Me

Gotta go with "When You Were Mine", it's a classic.

I'm only a casual fan of theirs, but the best was definitely X JAPAN. They were great, the venue was great, and everyone was just so happy to see them from the very first moment they got on the stage. It was really moving to see so many older couples holding hands and singing along to Endless Rain beside all the younger fans.

The worst was the fool, by far. I'll usually give most bands that come to my local convention a fair shot and stay until the end because it's free and I have nothing to lose, but they sucked so much that I couldn't wait to leave. Unfortunately, my friend wanted to buy something from HITT, so we were stuck there.

  5. Was a little nervous about the new Yellow Studs album, since I didn't really like the tracks they released for download, but almost all of the other songs in the trailer sound good, so my hopes are back up.

Also, I was going through some music videos I have on my computer and came across folca's PV for "3:04", so I thought I'd give them a mention here.

I'm just going from what I've seen on Youtube, since I can't find any of their stuff, legally or illegally, but the thing that interested me about them is that most of their videos seem to be along the same line as this:

But then they suddenly came out with this:

I'm a sucker for variety, and I thought it was refreshing to see a band that seems to have a sort of serious, emotional image trying to mix it up and get sexy.

  6. ^I'll pick the BUCK-TICK track, since I only know one of the other songs on that list. Weirdly enough, the exact same B-T song ended up on my list as well.

    1. andymori - himawari

    2. GLAY - Believe in fate

    3. BUCK-TICK - Gekka Reijin

    4. PUSHIM, RHYMESTER, HOME MADE KAZOKU, MABOROSHI & May J. - I Say Yeah!

    5. Prince - Shhh

    6. Enuff z' Nuff - Baby Loves You

    7. Spike & Tyla's Hot Knives - Lost in a Crowd of One

    8. Shania Twain - No One Needs to Know

    9. Nothing's Carved In Stone - Out of Control

    10. SBK - ladder

  7. and if you can't buy the CD you have to buy the iTunes version (which is total bullshit imo because there's only a price difference of like 10$ and if you don't have the cash 10$ isn't going to make such a big difference).

It depends on which CD you're buying and where you're getting it from, I guess, but for most of the Japanese releases I've bought it was more like a $15-20 difference in price once you factor in shipping (at least in Canadian dollars), and you also get the music immediately instead of waiting weeks for it to come, so I do think it is worth it to buy off iTunes if you don't have that much money to spare.

I bought THE BEATMOTORS' mini-album "Subarashii ne" off iTunes for about $6. It would have been $20 with the cheapest possible shipping off CDJapan, and taken 3 weeks+ to get here.

I just wish iTunes purchases came with booklet scans.

  8. Just found this performance by Suck a Stew Dry while I was skimming through Twitter.

^They play their new single "I Don't Love You" around 14:00, and it's adorable. Not what I was expecting from the title at all - especially since they tend to be pretty angsty.

Their singer also does random Twitcasts where he performs acoustic in his bedroom sometimes, which is super cute.

  9. Went to the first show of the Next Music from Tokyo tour. Unfortunately, I had to leave before jizue came on because I didn't want my friends to miss the subway and get stranded, but the other four bands were all pretty good. Really happy that I got to see Kinoko Teikoku again, and they seemed so much more confident and relaxed this time.

Happy!Mari were definitely the biggest surprise of the night for me, though. They're so much better than their Youtube videos make them look. Three pairs of glasses ended up on the floor while they were playing, and the entire band just looked so incredibly excited to be there. I'm glad there was a goofy, energetic band on the bill, because Uchuu Conbini were kind of boring. People seemed to love them, and I could see the appeal, but it's not music that you can move to at all, so most of the crowd was just standing around awkwardly during their set, which is kind of a buzzkill for me.
