Haven't heard the new Tribulation album and wasn't a fan of the last, but I'll try 'em both out sometime. Brilliant coverart for the new one, though. It's taken from Les Vampires, one of my all-time favourite TV-series.

And yes, the Gruesome album is cool. Total Leprosy worship.

I know this album (Sulphur Aeon) was talked about earlier here, I've not heard the band as far as I know but that's some artwork. Would love to have a huge picture of that up on my wall.

Infidel Art and Ghastly Funeral Theatre should be out any moment now, while these others will be released later this/next year or something. I am excited as fuck.

Not sure if these are mentioned, but Sigh covered a John Coltrane track for their The Curse of Izanagi EP and a Bathory track for a Bathory tribute album:

The Bathory cover is glorious. Sigh made it theirs without losing the feeling of the original. Love it.

Gallhammer released a cover demo back in 04, covering one Amebix, one Burzum and one Hellhammer track.

Arkha Sva's covered Mütiilation, Belketre, Vlad Tepes and Darkthrone. No surprise about the three first as this band reeks of the mid 90's french black metal and is somewhat an original tribute to the scene.

Avsolutized...'s covered Setherial, which comes as no surprise as this band reeks of mid 90's swedish black metal and is somewhat an original tribute to the scene.

This. By far Heidi's best song, and it just sets the mood for the rest of the album. It shows you what you can expect from the album and almost sums up what Heidi is (was) all about in one single track. 2:30-3:00 > one of the best parts ever written. So simple, yet so god damn good.

Another month, more good albums. I haven't checked out too many albums from april, but the few I have heard have been good. My all-time favourite band, Sigh, released a new fantastic album, Peste Noire released what should have been their previous album, Gruesome made a brilliant tribute to Death, Ghost Bath improved a lot on their debut and made a Deafheaven-gone-sad-kind of album, Drudkh went harsher and Luciferian Light Orchestra went retro. That's more or less the albums I've heard so far.

    Sigh - Graveward

I'll start off by admiting that I was, and still am, slightly disappointed by this album. I am not disappointed because it is a bad album, because this right here, this is a bloody masterpiece. I am a bit disappointed because You Oshima lacks the character of Shinichi. And this is just another proof that you can be a great guitarist on a technical scale, but still not half the guitarist of more limited guitarist because you lack character. You have nothing that makes you stand out from other guitarists on your level. And I honestly believe that this album would've been much better with Shinichi. But let's not dwell on that. I have gotten used to the production which I felt was quite off to begin with, but while not great, it doesn't take anything away from the music. Graveward sounds like a mix of Hail Horror Hail, Gallows Gallery and King Diamond, and I really, really like it. Mastermind Mirai once again shows why he is one of the most unique songwriters within the realm of metal. Mirai called this Cinematic Horror Metal, and he's quite spot on with that. I'll also add that despite having over 100 different tracks, this is perhaps Sigh's most easy album to get into together with Hangman's Hymn and Scorn Defeat, which came as quite a surprise. Another great album by a beyond fantastic band.

    The Tombfiller

    Peste Noire - La Chaise-Dyable

Peste Noire started out as a black metal band, and played something I call medieval black metal on their debut before going rougher with their follow-up, then starting to experiment and go in a more mad, crazy avant-garde-esque direction. And up until their previous album, the self-titled Peste Noire, the band had been changing drastic with each release. Peste Noire was good, but not as good as I had expected, and they failed to evolve with the album. It was just a mix of their previous album, and that greatly disappointed me because I had expected something crazier. But to my big surprise, they went in that direction again with this album, and this is the album which should've followed L'Ordure à l'état Pur, not Peste Noire. Anotier unique effort who'll split the fanbase even more. I love this, and I can't get enough of this madness. Hooligan black metal!

    Le dernier putsch

Luciferian Light Orchestra - Luciferian Light Orchestra

Luciferian Light Orchestra is the new band of Therion's Christofer Johnsson, consisting of songs written over a long period of time but which didn't fit into Therion. This is what Therion would've sounded like if they existed in the 70's. The band plays a form for poppy, occult 70's rock, which isn't very unique to be honest, but the Therion-esque feeling makes them stand out from the crowd. It's catchy, yet a bit challenging here and there, so there's more than enough to dig into after a few listens. If you like Therion, Year of the Goat, Purson and the likes, this just might be your cup of tea.

    Dr. Fuast on Capri

Still haven't heard the new Acid Witch, Deathhammer (if this was even released? No idea!) and Aek Gwi yet, though. I have the feeling all these will be great. I can see some of this challening for a spot on my list.

Edge of Tomorrow - I've been looking forward to seeing this for a long time, and I was very much enjoyed. I wish it was a tad more brutal, I didn't like the ending and some of the special effects looked pretty poor, but apart from that it was very good. Emily Blunt was good and Tom Cruise is still capable being cool. That's good!

Today I saw a guy go mental because he missed his bus. He carried lots of bags and a laptop so I assume he was going on a vacation, and his reaction told me he was already late, and missing his bus didn't really help on his day. He went away from the crowd, threw hi bags, and laptop, down on the ground and started jumping on his laptop. The sound of the laptop crushing combined with his overly red face made my day. It was so fucking funny.

Good boy. It's such a good album. Best of the year for me. Been playing it 2-3 times a day since it hit the net, and I am not close to bored of it yet. Just digging the hell out of it. Here's a song not from either of their releases:

Music is, I believe, the second hardest medium to write passable reviews on though. So no wonder that sometimes we don't get any further than "I like that riff". The only things more difficult to review must be the museum arts like paintings and sculptures.

Literature and film are considerably "easier" to review.

Finished Daredevil and I must say I really liked it. Dark and cool with brilliant action scenes. Can't wait for Daredevil season 2, A.K.A. Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, Luke Cage and most of all Defenders. This can be cool. Netflix rules.

Orphan Black started again. Watched S03E01 yesterday, and it was a decent start. I've been a bit sceptical to how this show has evolved, so I am interested in seeing if they have a plan for this season.

Also finished Tales From the Crypt, season 2. It has its ups and downs, but 95% of the episodes are ups. It's really cool!

A Chinese Ghost Story III - The third and last film in the chinese ghost story series. This film starts off with the showdown from the first film, before it jumps 100 years forward in time with new characters and a new story. Well, it isn't so new. While a distant sequel, this is basically a retelling of the first film. So it lacks the punch, the freshness and the power of the two first films, as it's just more of the same. It's just the romantic horror comedy wuxia that you'd expect after watching the first two. But don't get me wrong, it doesn't have the punch of the first film, but it's still brilliant ad it's a truly enjoyable film, but it's probably the weakest film in the trilogy. Slightly weaker than part 2.

And as in the second film, there's some godeawful CGI here. Some truly dated special effects which lacks everything you'd want in special effects. Where outdated practical special effects usually has lots of charm, outdated CGI has nothing. It's just disgusting. But there's also plenty of practical special effects that's just amazing. The CGI is a small part of the film.

It is pretty violent. I had no idea about this, so it caught me by suprise to see heads suddenly getting punctured. The realistic side of me starts shaking my head because of some Kill Bill gore. Also, the show has nudity in almost every episode, if someone doesn't want to watch shows like that.

Now that ender mentioned Vikings, that's another awesomeness. I love how it is made. Seriously, the photographer inside me weeps from the joy whenever I watch the show.

Oh, should probably mention some other cool show: has anyone watched How to get away with murder? Holy shit! I love it. I would also mention Stalker, but I would have to admit that the only reason to watch it is Maggie Q's hotness. The first episode had lots of potential, but the level turned downwards right after the pilot episode. There was some amazingle and lovingly (yes) creepy episode (I think it was the fourth episode or something), but after that, I didn't feel like watching it again. Might try to catch more episodes some day, but you never know!

Most of the shows I watch are American, but there's one show I would never imagine myself watching; Polseres vermelles, which tells about a group of spanish kids who are admitted to a hospital. I admit that I have watched only couple of episodes, but something in this show fascinates me!

    The Doom Generation (1995)
Trashy low-budget cult movie with lots of blood, violence, harsh language and sex. The viewer is dragged along with this couple pictured above (+ a stranger they pick up) on what you could call is a bit of a road trip through moral depravity. This isn't going anywhere and doesn't have much of a storyline. It's an experience.

I thought it was very well made in the sense that it drags you deep into a world you never knew existed (and to a certain extend actually never did) and takes enjoyment in seducing the viewer to go along with the ride, no matter how disturbed some of the images and events are. One scene can be real cool and stunning with gorgeous colors, the next scene may be a slap in the face, showing you how messed up this situation truly is. Especially the ending. God, that ending!

The soundtrack is monumental! There's Slowdive, The Jesus and Mary Chain, Curve, Lush and Cocteau Twins among others... and there's even a Pizzicato Five song playing in the background of a long scene! Basically all things considered cool and hip in the 90's underground scene of a 'doomed generation' are gathered here.

The general reception on this was very negative. I read even Roger Ebert the famous critic gave this zero stars. He hated it!
IMDb users aren't fans either: a rating of 5.9 is very low for their standards. Don't be discouraged though. While this may be appealing to a smaller audience, if you ARE that audience, you just might end up enjoying it. I thought it was a great ride and certainly memorable.

Good, though fairly standard black metal. Always thought this band has a strong finnish vibe to it. Think early Sargeist and mid-era Horna.
