Wait a minute. Are you saying that X Japan couldn't start VK because no-one sounds like them? Now I don't know nor give a fuck, but saying a band didn't start something because no-one sounds like them are dumb as fuck. If that's what you're doing. Anyway, there's a lot of (speed/thrash/power) metal bands that took after (early) X Japan in the late 80's and early 90's both music- and image-wise. This is a known fact.

Going to Retro Live today, with artists such as Scooter, Aphaville, 2 Unlimited, Rednex, Dr. Alban and more. This should be fun, the only problem is that I don't have the time to go home after work to get drunk. So I guess I'll have to grab 2-3 beers or something in the city before the trip goes to the concert arena. And it's supossed to rain a lot in the evening, so this should be a wet evening considering it's outside. Heh. Looking forward to this.
  3. This film looks so cool. That's all I have to add.

Just watched The Invitation (2015). I was very curioys about this film, and it delivered so god damned hard. I thought it was excellent, and it was different from what I'd thought. The film is slow as fuck and unless you've got tons of patience you won't be able to get through this, but it's well-written, beautifully shot, superbly acted and filled with suspense and tension. Fuck yeah, this was fantastic! One of the best films of 2015. Highly recommended.

The Purge: Anarchy was a lot better than its run-of-the-mill supbar home invasion predecessor that was The Purge. It was flawed, but at the same time ver cool. Not very original or anything, but the whole purge-thing is very interesting and this time they did something very cool with the idea. Not much horror to be found, though. It's more a sci-fi actioner than anything horror-related. Actually looking forward to the third now. And while not as good as its predecessor, 10 Cloverfield Lane was much fun. It felt a bit more standard than Cloverfield and it lacked the atmosphere and "originality" (in lack of a better word) of Cloverfield, but I was really surprised at it and had much fun. Could probably have been shortened something like 10 minutes, though, or told us a bit more about the characters' past, or what happened outside. But I really liked it.
  6. Joel Grind is out with a new single. Joel Grind (Joel Grind of Toxic Holocaust fame's own playgrind to do whatever the fuck he wants to) started out as a old school black/speed metal band in the vein of old Bathory, Bulldozer and Venom, then went into fuzzed-out, acid-drenched surf rock on a split with legendary Davie Allan and has now visited synth land with an incredible two-track single in the vein of old John Carpenter. These two tracks are excellent and consist of some of the best music Joel Grind has ever made. Impressed as fuck! http://joelgrind.bandcamp.com/album/fatal-planet

Anyone seen Slasher yet? From the little I've read and seen it kinda looks like an actual horror series, and it seems to be a bit more mature than other "horror" series out there. I think it might have a more classic horror-feeling to it than other series. I really hope I am right about this show. Will start on it as soon as I've finished a few others that I am watching at the moment. I am also very interested in the british mini-series Stag. From what I've read it's a 3 episode black comedy/slasher, which sounds great. Seems a lot of people are comparing it to The Cabin in the Woods, wich sounds neat. Will have to try this out also. Currently watching: A Very Secret Service French spy-parody in the vein of OSS 117: Cairo, Nest of Spies and OSS 117: Lost in Rio, albeit not quite as corny. Nor as good. But it's still very funny. Written by the same guy who did the OSS 117 films, so if you liked those I'd recommend this for sure. Ninja the Mission Force I've had a long break now because I haven't been able to find episode 8 anywhere, but I've decided to just move along without it. It sucks, but that's life. Anyway, this series is one big, fat tribute/homage/parody of cut-and-paste master Godfrey Ho. So much fun! Danger 5 Super campy and bizarre action-comedy that's so over the top, silly and stupid. But this shit is hilarious. But I believe most people will have to get drunk or high to enjoy stuff like this. But if you like camp, then there's no reason not to check out this golden series. These gifs tells you everything you need to know about Danger 5:
  8. Yeah, was listening to the song at work today. Thought it was fantastic, and much better than everything on Shelter. Fabolous!
  9. I missed the "preferably one release per band" thing entirely. Will try again later, because I felt I had to leave out way too many bands because of Sigh, Sabbat and Kagrra. Heh.

Quantum Leap (the cultest of the cult!) Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles (a lot better than you'd think) Life on Mars (UK) (first season especially is exceptional!) Voyages! I'd also recommend checking out the films Planet of the Apes, Beneath the Planet of the Apes, Escape from the Planet of the Apes, Conquest of the Planet of the Apes and Battle for the Planet of the Apes, as well as the 1973 TV-series Planet of the Apes and the animated series Return to the Planet of the Apes. Lots of time travel stuff and shit. Great films, great series.

Cradle of Filth - Dusk... and Her Embrace - The Original Sin After 21 years the original recording of Cradle of Filth's Dusk... and Her Embrace finally sees the light of day, and what an album it is. Recorded in 1995 by the same bunch who did The Principle of Evil Made Flesh it's a lot different than the version we got in 1996. It's darker, meaner, blacker and less gothic, with a grimmer, more lo-fi production and a very different sound. The biggest difference would be Dani's vocals which is very, very different from those on the 1996-version. It's flawed, but the flaws just strenghten the whole album IMO. A fantastic album! Satan's Vomit - Back to the Beginning Old school black/speed metal in the vein of old, old Bathory and Hellhammer. Ripping stuff that ends with an excellent cover of Exorcist's Black Mass. Just my cup of dirty tea. Breidablik/Jordsjø - Songs from the Northern Wasteland Split release between progressive folk-rocker(s) Jordsjø and "nature synther" Breidablik. This shit is perfect for a walk in the forest or up in the mountain. Excellent again from Jordsjø, and Breidablik was a pleasant surprise. I expect Sauron's "Conquest Through Attrition" and Salem's Pot's "Pronounce This!" to make this list too, but I haven't heard 'em yet. Expect them to be good, though.

I'm not gonna be a douchebag about this, and as impressive as your dedication to visual kei and Jrock were, I'm not bothered about this at all. Every single time a bunch of no-bodies have formed a shitty band that never got any further than one gig they've gotten a new thread, and every single time a known Japanese rocker have thought about just having a shit after lunch you've made a thread about it. And to be honest it's just been way too much and too messy for my taste. Which means I've more or less stayed away from the entire news section. Now maybe I'll try check it out for new bands again. But as I said, your work here has been pretty impressive no matter what I feel about it. Top notch dedication to the scenes at least. Thanks bye

Good fucking riddance. That post is the dumbest thing I've ever seen on this forum. Jesus.Fucking.Christ. On anotoher note, totoday was the official first day for a lot of the new school kids, and as I will continue working with the first graders this year I had to be there. Can't stand these type of days, can't stand talking to parents and all that shit. But I ended up shaking hands and introducing myself to no less than three parents, which is three more than last year. Progress! But seriously though, I'm not much of a handshaking person even though I know it leaves a negative first impression on 'em all. But they'll soon learn to love me like last years first graders' parents did. Happy days. Or is it?

I love this subject, and a lot of the good film's already mentioned. Coherence and Time Lapse are both excellent, and sadly a bit overlooked. Highly recommended! And here's a bunch of other films I feel is a bit overlooked, forgotten or underrated: Los Cronocrímenes (sci-fi thriller/horror) Time Bandits (classic fantasy film you never hear anyone talk about anymore. Fantastic film!) The Time Machine (1960) (sci-fi-adventure. Another classic that seems to be forgotten. Masterpiece!) Time After Time (sci-fi adventure, a forgotten semi-classic that should be huge. Brilliant!) Midnight in Paris (Woody Allen's romantic comedy is his seminal work IMO, but it's somewhat forgotten. Praised when it came, but no-one seems to care anymore. I don't get it, brilliant!) La Jetée (drama, short film. Classic!) Triangle (sci-fi mystery) Returner (Sci-fi action) Now films like Time Bandits, The Time Machine, Midnight in Paris and to some degree Time After Time are films a lot of people have seen and all, but I still feel like they, despite they're status, is somewhat forgotten. Neither have gotten the praise they deserve in newer time. I think it's really weird. I'll come back with more.
  15. Alcest - Kodama I love the cover art. Set for a release at the end of september. Very excited, and I am wondering if they continue down the path of pure shoegaze/dream pop road or if it will, as Neige himself said, be a bit darker. I would love to hear a bit more metal influences again to be honest, but I doubt that will happen now. Negură Bunget - Zi I'm one of few who liked the previous album quite a lot, and I m looking forward to this. Progressive and folky atmospheric black metal. I do hope for something a lot better this time though, because despite liking the previous one it was a bit disappointing. Agatus - The Eternalist This is Agatus' first full lenght since 2002's The Weaving Fates, so I'm really stoked about this. Greek black metal with Archon Vorskaath (Zemial, ex-Varathron) and Eskarth the Dark One (ex-Zemial, ex-Kawir). It sounds very greek, but with a bit more Bathory and epic heavy metal than the traditional bands. New song sounds fantastic! https://agatus.bandcamp.com/album/the-eternalist

I don't dislike Yohio, I just don't give a flying fuck about him or any of his shitty bands. Couldn't really care less to be quite honest. Next question.

I've only seen the original short of Lights Out and it was very good, so I've got high hopes for the full feature film. Looks very good!

The Blair Witch Project is finally(?) getting a sequel, and this time we're talking a proper sequel. Now usually I wouldn't give a flying fuck about something like this, but this is a bit different. Why you ask? Because it's directed by Adam Wingard and written by Simon Barrett. You don't need no other reason than that. I actually believe this is gonna be great. Seems like a few selected people have already seen it and the reviewers just doesn't seem to be able to stop praising it. I usually don't give a fuck about reviewers, but I have faith in this film. Can easily turn out to be the horror film of the year.

Abigail's fifth full lenght and first since 2010's Sweet Baby Metal Slut is finally coming. The album is titled The Final Damnation and features great cover art by Chris "Thorncross" Moyen. Thought the new song was great as well. Probably the most black metal-sounding song they've done since the debut album, but with the pressence of much more heavy metal. Less punk, less thrash/speed metal and way more black and heavy metal. Promising! https://nuclearwarnowproductions.bandcamp.com/album/the-final-damnation
  20. This shit is impossible. Had I made this tomorrow there would've been a few changes for sure.

Played and finished the new Doomgamea few weeks ago. Just pure, mindless action like they gave us action gamers in the 90's. Full blast from start to finish. I thought it was great.

I am a hetrosexual and will not let anyone come inside of me, and certainly not someone like Jesus. I'd rather have someone like Satan fill me up tbqh. But at the end of the day it's just not my thing.
