Ageha (the Japanese swallowtail butterfly) seems to come up a fair amount to me, in lyrics too. MUCC have an Ageha on their album Kyutai, and Sadie have Ageha no Nakigara (swallowtail's corpse) on MASTER OF ROMANCE.

Unfortunately the download button simply doesn't appear at all on Japanese videos. Oh well, I guess it can't be done.

But is it possible to download it somehow?

Occasionally I like to download the odd PV from YouTube to put on my iPod, but I recently encountered a problem. All the usual methods of downloading a video from YouTube don't seem to work - either the link is invalid or a download can't be produced. And I think it's because the video is region-locked to Japan. Since I'm currently in Japan, I could watch it just fine. Is it possible to download Japanese videos at all?

For those wondering, the PV in question is the full version of abingdon boys school's WE aRE, which is actually different from the version on the single (trust me, I own it).

Wow, SingerSen has a really powerful voice and an impressive vocal range. I'm definitely going to give her album a listen. Asura really caught my interest. This is coming from someone who rarely listens to anything resembling pop. I agree, one to watch.

I don't think that's the complete picture. Yes, overwork and suicide are common, women are choosing a working lifestyle, and saving face is one of the biggest problems(?) with Japanese culture. But having now been here for over a month staying in a university dorm I would beg to differ. The younger generation is coming out of that rut and while showing affection in public is still pretty rare, I would say that a majority of the Japanese students in the dorm are in a committed relationship, and they're all aged 18-22 or so. Because it's an international dorm a couple of them are actually dating foreigners, even after they returned to their home country. Hell, I even started dating a Japanese girl last week. So don't think it's all doom and gloom for Japan, in the next 50 years or so I expect the more open-minded younger generations to start making a change on the country's public image.

Just a wild thought , I wonder if Rei (ex. aim) join them !? That would be super amazing !

As some of you already know, next week I'm moving to Tokyo for a year's study. As a result of this, and a healthy dose of paranoia, I will be closing all my filesharing accounts and deleting the files. By the end of next Sunday 15th September, any links I have shared will be dead. This might come across as slightly arrogant and that's not my intention, I just wanted to give people fair warning before they start asking me to re-upload things (in particular my lossless rips). I'm perfectly happy for you to mirror the files, but I will no longer take credit for them. As for whether or not I will resume sharing after my year in Japan is complete, I have yet to decide. This one was a bitch to do. Mainly because the lyrics are written in a small font that is stylized to look handwritten instead of printed, which made a lot of the kanji difficult to make out. I believe Japanese part is 100% correctly transcribed (after some effort), but as always the translation is up to interpretation.

Not really sure where to post this, but time is running out and I'm in an unfortunate situation.

Signal have been one of my favourite new bands in recent memory, and I'm gutted they're disbanding this month. I've followed them since their formation and bought everything they've put out that I could get hold of.

Even worse though, I can't attend their last ever one man because I don't arrive in Japan until just 3 days afterwards!

I need someone who is going/willing to go to it and get a copy of their final single Crossing fate for me. I will of course pay for the CD, and the service too if necessary.

The live will be held on 9/14 at Meguru Live Station, and attendance is based on the 'promise' method - the link to contact the venue about it is on Signal's page here.

Thanks so much if you can help me out. I believe the single is actually an attendance gift rather than a purchase-able item, so if you're willing to do this you would probably have to forfeit your own copy ^^;

LOL. I kinda always knew the "aah" bit was just a bit of vocal flair, it seems to be Yuri's thing (he does it in GROW BACK as well as a couple other tracks). It's actually not in the lyrics at all but I put it in just because.

I've been meaning to translate this for a long time and just never got round to it. There's a version floating around the 'net already but the original kanji are inaccurate and I wanted to give it a go myself anyway. The lyrics here are transcribed from the original single, I haven't checked if they changed at all in the Undertake booklet for the re-recording. I'm also intending to translate the other song from this single, Roots, but (shh) I can't really be bothered right now. If it's done in the next couple of weeks, I'll post it... if not, I'll be in Japan and you'll have to wait for another year. Anyway, enjoy M・E・L・T.

Signal's last official single came out last month and it's a pretty epic track. The clean vocals toward the end of the song got stuck in my head so I opened up my copy and took them down. And then proceeded to translate the whole thing, which is actually largely in English. For the record, I currently have no intentions of translating the other track from this single, 10F.
