I don't really intend to play on full settings to be honest, I just need it playable (NPCs should not be lag-stabbing me!) so I will have to try what I can. The things is I don't play too much AAA games, with a mild interest on Crysis 3, and I use my computer more on media than anything else hence why I opted for a laptop. I am not sold on gaming laptops as well and will defo go for a desktop if my laptop won't work.

That's ok, unpacking CDs imo is one of the most awesomest feeling in the world. I was in the same boat as you a few weeks ago and I had over 10 CDs to unpack and open....OH MY! That excitement, that wonder of the contents, one of the best feelings ever!

I am not a hundred percent sure about alice in wonderland stuff. My best guess is probably have to due with the concept of an innocent girl in an unknown mysterious world...but that depends on the bands though. What band actually heavily relies on this concept?

The vampire thing has to do with never ending life and how shitty that is especially when you have developed some meaningful relationships with other mortals. The thought of continually losing a loved one, and you can't do anything about it, makes it a curse. Turn them into a vampire themselves? But that only leads them to the same path as the vampire and would only mean they would have to go through the same ordeal as the vampire. Out of this is the appreciation of mortal life which ties in to the rose. Like a rose, mortals will have a bloom during their lifespan and eventually die away after. This thought is much more noble way to have had an existence and brings about longing to eventually join the people they have loved in the afterlife. But that is wishful thinking as they are vampires and are immortal. Lastly, all these concepts lead to one thing and that is the appreciation of life and those that you love while you are still alive. Also, possibly just a Japanese way of thinking, it is better to just have an ending in life and be content with everything you have gone through than to continue without a sense of fulfillment until you die away.

I am only speaking from my experience (and probably over thinking) of vampirism with Versailles which has more themes about undead.

JukaForever got a reaction from Jigsaw9 in Horror Movies
Not once during the Quiet Family was I horrified but more so interested to see what happens next.

Here is my list 00 to 09, unless otherwise stated, it is determined by my horror or terror for the characters and less so for my scare or shock. A warning of possible spoilers ahead but I tried to limit them.

    10)   Shutter
This is the movie that gave me ultimate respect for Thai horror. It is a typical ghost plot but IMO, it displays the full range of horror possible such as mood, tempo, atmosphere, false safety...

    9)      One Missed Call
The beauty of this film is the imminent doom from something simple such as a ringtone. I especially like how Miike was able to twist a simple and innocent ringtone to something sinister.

         Saw

The main trait, I particularly like about this are the decisions proposed to the characters. They are horrible but still teaches you the lesson life is worth living even with the suffering. It is a simple film but the plot is something I have never seen or experienced before.

    7)      The Descent
Darkness is a bitch and what is scarier is knowing there are unknowns that lies within it.  Well a reason to watch "six chicks with picks" is not bad too.

    6)      Dumplings
This is the type of film that builds up to an eventual horrific reveal. What is especially discerning is the possibility of this actually happening in the black market. The ending stare is especially sickening as it shows the unapologetic nature of the actions of some people and their desires outweighing morals and ethics.

    5)      Ju-On the Grudge
This is essentially the white-gowned girl fucking up my heartbeat movie. Many things have been said about this film already from reviews and such. It is an essential j-horror film only recommended if you haven't been desensitized by other harsher horror movies.

    4)      The Hills Have Eyes
This is the first movie that made me uncomfortable at a very young age. The rape is scene was especially what I detest the most. Of all crimes possible, rape will always be the one I detest the most and this one shows one where help was possible. As well, other atrocities are shown just as horrific.

    3)      28 Days Later
As stated before, running-aggressive zombies is just not a thought I particularly like to have. Secondary to this is the study of the male psyche or behaviour when faced with the dystopia of limited women.

    2)      Funny Games
This is a film where the viewer gets to explore the feeling of helplessness and demeaning to an ultimate level at least in my opinion. There is very little bloodshed and the main villains are "normal" looking people. This movie ends with some loud grunge rock movie leaving me with an even rougher feeling in my stomach from what I have just witnessed and viewed.

    1)      The Chaser
This is quite a thrilling and suspenseful ride of a movie that had me down right immersed in the movie emotionally for the first time ever. The main suspense is the use of my favourite Hitchcock technique where the audience knows what the villain is up to but unknown to the main hero. This technique often creates frustration for the viewer and this becomes especially frustrating by the pre-climax as a victim nearly escapes from the villain. Think Taion but there being hope even though it was only a sliver. What sets this a part from Hills Have Eyes is that the hope is held throughout the film making me constantly attached to the character. The final result is not final until the climax ends but with the Hills, the family has nothing to lose after everything they have gone through and their still desolate position set the ending even before the movie ends.

It's a nice act and you clearly had good intentions but you shouldn't have laid hands-on first. If you really did train from martial artists then you should know physical violence should be the last resort, not the first.

BTW, it is normal for Chinese people to have such loud conversations, for foreigners it can sound aggressive and when it actually isn't.

Well "when necessary" as in when you see obvious physical violence. If you truly think you would do the same even with more training, then you need more training, maybe proper training. Some Sifus apparently ease the difficulty in training to keep the business running. Particularly, physical training is very important where you get punched in the face, your nose is numb for a week and your arms tremble from the strikes and blocking...then you see your sparring partner is an average built Asian and you have at least 20-40 lbs on him -.- I don't want to delve deep into the philosophy but you could assert yourself with words and not physical violence.

Idk where the event exactly that took place, at least it was a Chinese dude and not other else you could have been cited for physical harm as you instigated contact. Just take precaution when you do physical contact even if it is justifiable.

I agree with Archaic as it somewhat resembles my experience with Chinese people as well studying in a university that is about 60% Chinese and maybe about half of those are FOBs. I don't have a firm grasp on what part of China they are from if I just met them but, for FOBs, some are terrible to uncivilized and some are cool to friendly.

Dark souls is about gameplay  first and foremost, I never played the PC version with the fix applied and still able to log 180 hours on it. This is after roughly 8-900 hours on PS3 using a crap TV and monitor. I still loved every moment of my experience. I am currently waiting on the PC version of Dark Souls 2 which is a pain as my youtube feed is littered with various content and playthroughs of the game.

Currently trying out indie games during the massive sales on steam right now, nothing too big.

I got the same first 2 faves for the exact same reasons. I don't listen to the other 3 bands.

I am incredibly picky in my tastes in vocals as it something that I will be hearing 95% of the time, I need to like after a few samples. Just for VK
Kamijo, more so in Versailles post-Noble. I don't 100% like his Lareine voice unless the melody is just right. Juka...Forever Taa, LuLu. I really like how his voice sounds strained and be able to convey a certain emotion unique, at least to my experience, to LuLu's music. His techniques suits quit a range of rock styles but in the deeper(meaning?) songs, he really shines. Inzargi, Megamasso. Very good vocals rhythmically, and straddles a nice line between sounding deep and light at the same time. Ruki, the GazettE. I think his voice sounds perfect for their type of music. In my opinion, he can carry most of the songs by himself with his voice as his sense of rhythm is really good.

I am going to try out Chanty, sound like they have potential but something seems off in the vocals

I hope indie sounding bands becomes a trend in VK. Yeti is probably the first band that hooked me on that sound.

If so then Visual Kei is not a genre, you are now using images (which I do as well) as a way to differentiate between artists. Then Visual Kei is another word for genre but using vision instead of your auditory system

Zin will never be able to look or have the presence like Kamijo. Kamijo is quite detailed in how he wants to look and was never out classed in aesthetics compared to other members. Zin looks like a roadie to be honest and doesn't have the VK? to stand out amongst the members.

Zin is just background here lol Glad to see Hizaki is back in his red dress.

Note: No offence to the religions mentioned

On the topic of religion and relationships, my first serious relationship was one with a Mormon religion. I would've been much more comfortable with other religion as this one is a bit more "out there" in terms of their beliefs, like how their prophet was visited in some place in America and issued physical tablets by God and told to lead. Anyway, their family would hold these weekly family time where they would get their family together and essentially read their bible(I think it was the bible or their religion issued ver.) and discuss about it. I went along to some of these as way to get closer to their family and essentially be more accepted as I wasn't of their religion. The dad was a former pastor of their religion and I was the same ethnicity as they were so they understood my background more or less and assumed I was catholic as my ethnicity is a catholic by majority. During one of these times (and I guess as a test put by the dad), I was asked to explain about a passage just read and comment about. I AM A FUCKING ATHEIST! I bullshitted everything in how the passage related to me or any other conclusions. That was probably the hardest moment ever during my relationship concerning her family and some of the worst times for me overall.

    Not ranked

    artist - album

    LuLu - nippon iryou kakumei

I love their theme and the music accompanying it.

    Versailles - Holy Grail

Extreme aesthetics are wonderful and the symphonic nature of their songs is addictive

    Calmando Qual - BLACK SHEEP

Love their dark sound and Black Sheep was the first album that me hooked on them so it is my favourite.

    Phantasmagoria - Wailing Wall

One of the first bands that I really liked but didn't really follow them while they were active. I loved listening to their lives in youtube so I don't really have a favourite album but the large compilation of Wailing Wall is sufficient I guess.

    Mejibray - Emotional【KARMA】

Each one of the band members have a unique character individually and it passes on in their music having such a cool blend of ideas.

    X - Vanishing Love

Love the metal sound and an effortless transition to ballad/emotional ensemble.

    Signal - CHAIN

This band just had fresh sound to typicaly VK bands and I liked every one of their songs.

    The GazettE -  NIL

I love love the multitude of songs with a deep/deeper meaning to them made by this band. They have an uncanny ability to make me groove to subject matter that I normally wouldn't.

    Yazzmad - Yazzmad

One of my new favourites, loove the vocals and instruments. I guess music jumps out to me first from this band not their music.

    JUKA!!!!

Everything and anything with this guy in vocals, I absolutely love his vocals and compatibility with different genres. Moi dix Mois has him in a gothic type of music, Hizaki Grace Project was basically metal, his solo works tries out different rock-infused genres but the ballads are the best at this time, XOVER sees him with light rock and finally VII Sense has a typical VK sound although a hot mess musically. This dude is so fun to listen especially if you mix all those bands' songs and works together for a master mix of Juka vocals.

I only need 8 songs as they would combine to almost 120 mins

    Versailles - Symphony of Versailles

    1) History Of The Other Side
    2) God's Palace -Method Of Inheritance-
    3) Love From the Dead Orchestra
    4) Prince
    5) Princess
    6) Created Beauty
    7) Faith and Decision
The Revenant Choir (extended Hizaki solo)

The first 3 songs is a solid 30 mins of classic Versailles symphonic metal as well IMO it would also sound like a story with the way I arranged the song order along with the other songs. My favourite release by Versailles is probably the prince and princess maxi single. It always felt like a story after finishing listening to them straight but felt the ending is too abrupt. Created Beauty is a wonderful song that has a climatic character in it and pairs nicely with Faith and Decision. And the typical ending of Revenant Choir should be a great way to end but there is a segment in there where I have heard Hizaki put on an improvised solo like 3 different times. I think if he can put a final solo act in that segment, it would be a great ending song.
