  1. I was under the impression that they were widely regarded as symphonic power metal, leaning towards power metal later in their career as the symphonic parts were decreased as their career goes on.

But that's what genres do. They give you a general idea of what to expect. Any band that sticks to their guns on the genre that they belong to aren't very interesting.

Well...hmm..Up to Noble they had a more heavy sound than power overall imo. But i think different people will interpret sounds differently. With the heavy metal I listen, I think Versailles fits that more. The symphonic part never really left imo but I do think it was lacking in their self title album especially with their lead single but it had like a super clean sound. I guess that was off-putting

  2. I think you need to meet some power/melodic metal bands, Versailles never were different from any of them, except for the bad vocals and the romanticism thing.

You can try and provide me an example of a similar band based on themes and influences of aristocats, vampire, rose, undead, ann rice novels(mainly the characters and its own themes), light and darkness, french romance, prince and princesses, palaces, baroque,17th century society and in some instances christianity.

    They are Versailles period.

Quite the contrary, I don't like plenty of power/melodic bands for their terrible vocals and concepts for their songs. I follow very few for these reason. I can only describe Versailles as Symphonic-heavy metal, I don't think they are fast enough to be power metal. I am not up to debate what sub-genre is what but simply stating Versailles is power metal is a gross understatement in what they bring to their music.

Vocals depends on an individuals taste in music. You trying to state Kamijo has bad vocals to me doesn't mean shit.

note: I don't consider growlers/screamo/cookie-monster vocals in the same category as Kamijo's style. They are very different and can only fit the metal they were intended for.

  3. Finished listening to Lovesick and Piano, I pretty much agree to previous descriptions of this band but I think I would need to get really accustomed to Korean singing in a rock enviroment. It just doesn't sound as hard or edgy, instead it is smooth and strong with easy transitions to light sounding rhythms. Pretty cool band overall and unique in their own rights

  4. Thanks, I totally agree to you.

Also, why should they want to have a "new" Verailles if Versailles isn't even disbanded?

Versailles and Jupiter are two projects and they excist both.

It seriously unnecessary to compare them because you can't comepare a person with him / herself.

The only thing that is different is the cencept and the vocalists but isn't that what makes these two bands two unique projects?

So to conclude: I will support these guys no matter what they do.

Oh, and I think Kamijo has the perfect voice for Versailles. It wouldn't have had the 'Lestat' feeling that belonged in the story Versailles is based on if there wouldn't be Kamijo. (Btw don't forget that in a symphonic metal band vocalists often don't have powerful voices, often even really soft ones like Kamijo has one.)

Lots of good points here but the bolded part is pretty much essential to Versailles. Kamijo and Hizaki came up with the Versailles, I think it was Kamijo that brought up the concept to Hizaki first as I remember correctly. If you don't like Kamijo, you don't like Versailles as a whole basically. Without him, Versailles would never have existed else he did a variant much like Lareine.

Although, the comparisons are fair imo. If we break it down, much of Versailles style was already born from Hizaki's Grace Project but with a different vocalist and much more interesting drummer. Similarly, Jupiter is pretty much Versailles with a different vocalist whom I think is too soft for the Hizaki/Teru epic guitar rhythms. I don't want to derail this thread but with the current vocalist, the preview sounds like a more refined and hard hitting Misaruka who are also insanely similar but different in their own rights.

Can't wait for my pre-order, love Hizaki.

  5. So as KAMIJO.

Hope he will never try to sing power metal, or any kind of metal again, ew.

Cant really tell by just one minute but this other guy seems to be more versatile and that is a nice thing.

But the music still the same so, for now, I'll pass.

He never really sang power metal, he sang his type of metal which suited his rhythm and vocal techniques. I doubt he can hang with the likes of Galneryus instrumentals.

  7. I try to buy at least 3 items for a minimum, otherwise the shipping gets too much for me.

But big batches I have to avoid, since anything with 5 CD's or more, gets automatically picked by customs, making the total cost of getting the CD's twice or more... I hate customs ._.

    Which country does that?

I am in CAN and my batch is 5 items with some having DVDs in them. This is the largest I have bought but a while back I had purchased stuff above $200 (limited lives and stuff) but not pushing above 3 items. I simply thought EMS handles it all since I have yet to pay extra custom fees.

If I use a shopping service I almost always buy in batches. I figure if I'm already going to pay fees to buy this auction, might as well try and grab these others I had my eye on y'know.

As for new releases, I don't buy very many these days. So I just purchase here and there.

Could you share what this shopping service you speak of? My only experience is in CDjapan, I am not sure if I am getting the best deal to save but their shipping is pretty fast like 3-4 days to get to my place.

  8. To those that actually buys the physical copies of releases, do you guys buy in batches of say 5-6+ items and have it delivered every month? Or do you do get them every other week in sort of constant small batch like less than 3 items?

I used to only buy releases of my fave band and nothing else since I couldn't really afford too much at that time. But I can buy most of the bands I listen to now. I may have over done it in my first big batch -.-

Of course I am assuming you are not from Japan else you can simply buy it upfront if you wanted. I am starting to regret doing a large batch system, the wait is killer.
