@Pretzel Whaat... You're taking this far too complicated I think. Stop thinking too much into it. His reasons for the things he plays are probably much simpler. His blasting

Don't be too harsh on that. I wouldn't know ANY of the drummers' "unique styles" (well except yoshiki maybe) you listed, and I doubt every fan has the expertise to detect drum styles of specific drummers.. let alone finding them in other drummers' makings. But I would strongly bet that a huge load of fans still comes from the JRock/VK scene, where unique and virtuous drumming is as common as a rhino in a petting zoo. So in comparison Shinyas ..ermm.. experimental.. drummings do sound extremely virtuous and unique.

Kanye West is a really nice guy with a lot of truth in his words.

Not again oh fuck it. I'd agree that he's a good drummer in theory. About his style.. well. That's debatable. I don't find it that spectacular, but oh well. He does have good parts (on Uroboros especially). And in practic.. well I don't know what he's doing in his free time, but I know what he isn't doing.. btw what's that flaming about the poser pic? They're looking well. What do people expect?

I mean I can get over that, considering Kyo wants to be metal's Franz Kafka. But it is just so awfully played. And so old. The most offensive thing to me is that Shinya didn't improve a bit for 6 years now. But I had enough share of that guy now anyway. I'd loved to see Kaishun or Cause Of Fickleness. (That would not have been a Cause of Fuckingstress... ok that was bad )

Again? Why not a new song? And dat drum outro... sends shivers down my spine. Shivers of embarassment..
  7. My native language is DEUTSCHLAND! then I'm fluent in english and also pretty good at french. Half of my family is from Switzerland, but I can't really speak it anymore since late childhood. Used to study italian but I sucked so bad at it there was nothing to come from it... Ey also schpeak austrinn pritti wehl. And some dutch, jonge.

Hm.. it's just a demo right? I mean for the fact that the whole thing is recorded with computer, I can't really tell if your band pulls that off. The vocals are weak, the screams are modded, the band name has a grammar error.. it's like you wanted to pack every jrock/VK cliche there is into this band. I didn't like it, but you're just beginning, right? I'm sure you will improve soon

yeah, my favourites are stocked somewhere during the indi era and then from libido -> world ruler. the thing about yomi si he's an *amazing* live vocalist. in fact he's so good most of the time you forget about the album quality. he'll stick until the bitter end for sure.

Well I think the new album featured some good new ideas that just hadn't good exposition. Many people bashed on their self-ripoff songs on that album, while I just got the feeling that most of it was very intentional. You don't really know at the end which of the two positions is more valid, it really comes down to intuition lol. After TBONTB (and *especially TABOO) I was ready to kick them off. But this album kinda made a step into a redeeming direction. Not quite, but at least I get the feeling of it. and @nekki .. yeah, that is sadly true. in fact they stopped being special pretty much in 2008 already. And I get the feeling this is more of a "kind attitude" towards it.
  11. I come from an ultraorthodox conservative christian sunni muslim family, and needless to say I have to hide from them ever since I got my first Nightmare - anima on christmas. The world is so fucked up!

There's a difference if you're a drummer with versatile style knowing how to fit patterns to the overall mood of the song, or if you're being being random just for the sake of it (because you know you can't do it any better), like Shinya is. He's a decent pop rock drummer, but really nothing more. And I think it's just fine to suggest him to elaborate on those "unnecessary metal/rock drumming trends" (just... oh my god..) since it's exactly what many of the newer songs would need to punch much more, such as the whole midsection of Diabolos f.e.. EDIT I think it's a bad thing now for drummers like Axe to include those "trends" into 10min sections of progressive metal drumming without ever sounding boring or pretentious. That is some fine drumming. Can't be compared to Shinxas random bell snare ride pseudo-fill combos with no punch or feeling whatsoever.

He did, didn't he? The Inferno features short blast beat sections.
  14. DogManX

Yeah I agree. It's a good track definitely. So hypnotic!
  15. DogManX

I'm really sorry dude I was wondering why you liked my comment and then this... (...). Yeah I actually knew where you were getting at with harmony, and I also wrote I agree with you on that. I just set up a poor analogy
  16. DogManX

EDIT oh my god I'm so not in the mood for this please don't reply haha. I hate Dunning Kruger discussions. But I was right about 3/4 of the time!!

Godammned people. The influence of american punk rock metalcore whatever is not a sole TMOAB-effort. I know most of you fucking love that WtD album for nostalgic reasons or whatever.. but hands down, until there there has never been such an american (...)-rock sounding album. They just set more genre-specific focus with TMOAB. Give me any american-inspired song from TMOAB, and I will tell you The Final trumps it. Actually, I think that's also why this song is so popular. It's so easy to digest for people with radio rock AND/OR jrock background. In the way how fucking uninspired it really is, it is sort of a masterpiece/marketing genius. But that's of course speculation. EDIT man I love Vulgar. Almost entirely.

THE FATAL BELIEVER is probably the most overlooked Deg song ever. For a reason. I think if any song qualifies for the worst Deg song, it could well be this one. I love the maggots unplugged too, lol. It's just the perfect way to transit such a beast. Well.. I love the original too.

Luckily Dir en grey fans are not dominated by weeaboos who are obsessed with emoticons and -chan endings. Usually those fangirls who go all the KAWAIIII way are not so kawaii in real life and approx. weigh about 200 kg. But that's of course speculation. Also when you have to grow up with RT... conspiracy theories are your daily news basically. Uroboros indeed a masterpiece. And this is totally not a distraction move!

That was strange lol. And they're as much of a "export product" for the US as a japanese band could have ever dreamed of. Going from your standards where's the dividing line between US- and european "assets" for foreign bands? Visuals from music videos or clothing style? I highly doubt that. EDIT Considering that their whole uroko style resembles much of what internationally recognized and assetized metal bands (such as Behemoth) have already done. And if you'd hinted at the fact that the US doesn't have a VK market.. ar at least less than europe (for whatever reason) (and that comes back to my initial "scene" comment directed at you) I'd have to disappoint you again, because Dir en grey aren't VK anymore and most fans and music editorials have recognized that since the first of their many publications about the band since the TMOAB era. But I could have (hopefully) misunderstood that... I am actually sure I have.
  21. DogManX

their days in the scene are over since 2006. get over it. and they still got some good style going on independently.
  22. DogManX
