- Cronos / nice horror flick (nothing too extreme tho) by Guillermo del Toro - Oblivion / pretty okay sci-fi, I enjoyed it (nice visuals too!)

I was kinda looking forward to this release because I surprisingly enjoyed lynch.'s last few singles, so I thought maybe this will be nice too but... I was let-down big time. Although the EP starts out promising with the short and heavier EXODUS and the nice post-whatevercore of ASHES (the highlight for me on the whole record) with its dreamy minimalistic main guitar melody, it all quickly takes a sharp turn towards Boresville throughout the following tracks. Two songs deserve mentioning here, rising out of this pile of samey faceless muck: BE STRONG is prolly the most whimpy and embarrassing song lynch. has put out so far (or at least a strong contender), no matter how much Hazuki's vocals try to save it he succumbs to the dumbed-down atmosphere too it seems, in the form of cringeworthy "la la la"s that go on for almost a minute. The other track is NIGHT, however this one swings the other way: it's actually almost kind of memorable and bearable, but below the enjoyability factor of the first two songs. My tolerance is usually pretty high when it comes to the sound/recording quality of visual kei (or VK-associated) acts but I feel like I must mention here how absolutely ass the whole EP sounds, especially when the "heavy" guitars go on and on, coupled with whatever cymbals the drummer could smash at the moment - it's a recipe for a hissing muddled mess of noise. It doesn't help that the guitars sound like the unfortunate encounter of a block of sandpaper and harmless buzz saws made out of plush. Like, VANISH might be a cool song but I just cannot tell at all what they're playing so whether it actually is a good song or not will probably remain a mystery to me. :'D I wouldn't go nitpicking on this if this was some Z-tier indies fail-kei band but with the slick major-produced metallic image lynch. is trying to convey it's utterly laughable. If this was a single with only EXODUS / ASHES / NIGHT on it, it would be kinda okay but as an EP it's pretty boring and a pain to listen to in the long run (see: previous paragraph). | insert T-shirt saying "the band put out a new record and all I got was a lousy-sounding bootleg with remnants of a good EP"

^ Yeah I guess that one was accidentally left in. Good to know those little tidbits, thanks for the info!

Nice~! Can't wait for the details, who's doing which song.

Oh hey this isn't bad... from 0:32 onwards it sounds like kinda decent thrash metal, I'm surprised. 8D

Hmm let's see! I really wasn't planning on paying much attention to the new single but since I quite liked the title track, I thought I'd give it a few spins. FADELESS is a nice STACKED RUBBISH-like throwback, nothing fancy but has some nice parts here and there - sure, it's not rocket-science music but it somehow strikes a chord with me more than their last several outputs. It's regular "good ol' GazettE" I guess; they did much better but it's still a nice average. QUIET, on the other hand is approximating their "boring average" side, nothing much to say here (too long, snooze-inducing, tho the bridge part is pretty neat I gotta say). Lastly, FORBIDDEN BEAVER (dat title) is here to represent the more uptempo rowdy face of the band, again a safely average song, sort of like a dumbed-down Ruder on sleeping pills. It's not too terrible, tho I don't think I'll be playing it again anytime soon. | average single, tho "average" in this case kinda means "hey, I expected a lot worse!"

Full PV: http://vimeo.com/72676887 Surprisingly, I found myself thinking this isn't too bad! At least I dig it better than anything on their last 2 albums. It does sound kinda STACKED RUBBISH-y, maybe that's part of why my "kinda okay" radar acknowledged it.

Lovin' the song more and more, and the video is beautiful! Nice job.

Yeah, the official site says PANDORA too, as on the album cover.

Some newer stuff I already posted on my tumblr (not paintings but pen drawings this time): Bandage...dude? (didn't rly give it a title xD) Zombie bros Sirens (this one's only a quick doodle/sketch)

Seconding Pandabear's suggestion for Tool and The Faceless (tho you might wanna start with their last album, since that one has clean vocals).

The Skin I Live In (La Piel que Habito) Excellent thriller/drama, much better and more complex & tricky than I initially expected!
-
Nice new song!
-
Whatttt... nooo That's like half the band? I hope DISH will continue somehow.

Animals As Leaders (instrumental prog) Chimp Spanner (see above) Ever Forthright (some of the most far-out trippy random stuff I've heard) Monuments (kinda regular djenty prog) Fellsilent (this one might be a bit heavier) ...these are some of the bands I dig. I'm no expert tho - it just happens that I listen to these bands, but dunno/haven't tried any of the ones you listed (well ok, except for HAARP). xD

I think I first got introduced to ZI:KILL through their PVs for "I Love Cat" and "Slow Down". Really nice old-school sound! I don't think I have a favorite album, been a long time since I last listened to them - but if I remember well, all or most of their releases are kinda almost equally good (for me).

Nice lighting effects! Thanks for the vid.

Sounds good!

Pretty cool, yeah! I like.
