Currently reading John Dies at the End by David Wong. It started out as a funny/amusing horror comedy but it ran out of steam around 2/3 of the way and I'm pretty much struggling on the last 80-ish pages now... the whole thing is longer than necessary imo (it's ~460 pages in total, lol). Not sure what I'm gonna read next but I have plenty of candidates..

No question for me here - easily the GazettE. They have their ups and downs but basically more listenable than non-listenable songs all in all. While I just cannot get into Nightmare because of Yomi's constipated opera vox and unremarkable instrumentals.

I see, thanks! I mostly like my doom sludgey and stonery so maybe gonna go in chronological order. xD Also, totally random but stumbled on this Japanese death metal band called Gotsu Totsu Kotsu... self-proclaimed "samurai metal" (cuz of the lyrical themes), not bad. Props to the frontman who does the vocals and the sick bass stuff too.

Dat Electric Wizard track doesn't sound bad (never listened to them before btw). Which album would you recommend for a beginner?

omg this was awesome! Agreed, it's very well put-together, doesn't feel acted at all. I like how it gradually gets creepier as it goes on, and that it doesn't utilize any jump scares and stuff like that but it still manages to unsettle. Great one!

Never heard of these guys before but based on YT vids this should be fun.

@Cat: Zion all the way! To me that is the release that most encompasses their high points electronica- and metalcore-wise, plus almost all songs on it are catchy as hell! That said, so far that one is their last good release as far as I'm concerned. Their first EP thingie from 2009 was pretty solid, and the album that came afterwards was somewhat okay too but their latest full-length...just no. Maybe a very small handful of cool tracks and then lots of filler and uninspired feather-light alternative-metal-copying.

Yeah, I'm hoping for a longer release after the single too... even a mini album would be fine. Not sure how well they would fare in album setting again, or at least their 1st full-length hasn't really held up well in my opinion (to me it only had a small handful of actually good/interesting tracks besides the single stuff). Tho I guess they have more experience now, so anyway, would be nice to see another album, yea.

Watched the 1st ep of Zankyou no Terror today, it seems okay enough, so gonna follow it to see where it goes... Also began watching Rainbow (thx for the recommendation, Gaz!) and it's super-depressing lmao. But it's not bad, so gonna continue.

The first 25 seconds sound like the lamest excuse for a main riff/melody ever, but the rest was decent. Interested in hearing the full thing eventually.
