  1. I don't listen to BORN but these covers just made my day, lmao. So ridiculous.

^ I agree, 11 was also really good! Overall, I can't really complain about any of their post-reunion releases I guess... only maybe concerning their fanclub-only antics (but as long as they keep delivering such quality material, I'm okay with whatever pace they're going at).
  3. ^ Of course! It still plays pretty good, tho there's a bit of wear/damage to the tape at the intro (replayed that and the first track many many times I guess xD).
  4. Jigsaw9

Oh lord... At this rate they would've been better off not releasing anything at all and just finishing up whatever they have to, lol.
  5. Dawn of Victory is godly! The first metal album I bought, on cassette, heh.

    ^ I'll hit you up with a PM~
  7. Jigsaw9

^ LOL yeah, I can get that if you didn't like their previous recent output (like 11), this release wouldn't appeal to you too much either. xD Glad you were able to revisit the album, even if you didn't find all that many tracks to your liking. And nobody should need a specific reason for liking Hakkyou Channel - it's simply brilliant!

Oh wow. I'm only through my first listen just now, and don't really know how to put this... well, let's just say I won't be re-listening to this album any time soon. You know that sinking feeling when you're listening to an artist that you otherwise love but you feel what you're listening to is so so wrong and you can't believe your ears? That becomes a lasting sensation in only five minutes after pushing play. It's like if MIYAVI somehow got game-over'd after the last album and now he has to start over everything, most of all learning how to write songs that don't make a decent fan of music cringe. It's quite an 'achievement' when "LET GO" and "THE OTHERS" stick with me as the more tolerable tracks, since I didn't particularly like those to begin with back when they were released. Of the new tracks, I don't mind "ALIEN GIRL"... I swear there was another song that was kinda decent but it all flew in one of my ears and out the other, everything on here sounds so bland, forgettable or just downright irritating (songs like "INTO THE RED" or "ODYSSEY" make me want to smash something, seriously). So disappointed. I remember digging MIYAVI's previous full-length, which was basically in a similar style with similar production, so I don't quite know what changed (other than the feelings described above), but it just doesn't work for me here, at all. It's all ridiculously try-hard, poseur, wannabe-sounding stuff that tries to blend 'edgy' (in reality: recycled ad nauseam) distorted riffs with crystal-clear shrinkwrapped hooks and synth diarrhea to somehow make a middle-ground product that wants to appeal to carefree pop lovers and indie-rocksters but kinda falls over itself. the musical equivalent of being force-fed baby food |

LOL, same. He's prolly the only J-pop/rock artist who's had like 3 gigs in Hungary already, and in such short time (not that I'm complainin'!). xD I guess I'm gonna go to this one too, even tho I still haven't listened to the new album, heh.

  12. TONIGHT somehow sounds like Steel Panther...? lmao Still not sure about this, but doesn't sound particularly bad so far or anything.

Having themes every Sunday might be a bit too much I guess... maybe every 2nd weekend then? Or not having to set it so strictly/punctually, just someone bringing up the topic of a potential weekend theme when a longer period of time has passed without one...? idk

Hi there, hope you'll like it here~
  15. Well, hoping I'm gonna like them better than their last few releases... Cool band pic as always tho.
  16. Jigsaw9

Love the kinda-reference to their 1st mini in the composition, heh (bottom one).
  17. Jigsaw9

interesting~ lineup~ (esp. seeing Rieu there!)
  18. Hope we can get to hear something from these guys someday... :<

What a way to come back! I can't really remember the original version of W.O.D. but this installment is just truly badass with its all-out heaviness. Some great tempo changes here and there, and impressive string-work (especially those little bass noodlings). Slayed me hard. It's nice to finally listen to Fatal Error Race as well, albeit it's in demo form. Even so, it still packs a punch, in typical heavy-but-melodic D.I.D. fashion. Can't wait to hear the finished track with a proper bangin' production. A solid lil' goodie from these guys, hope they'll be able to be more active from now on. |

Cool cover design/art! Mildly optimistic about the album.
  21. Jigsaw9

^ Glad that it made you wanna check out the album! With this singer, the general consensus is that the albums Dai 6 jikkenshitsu and Dai 7 jikkenshitsu are the best / must-listen material. Dai 5 jikkenshitsu is also a classic, tho they made that with their previous singer (his voice was a bit more straightforward / 'plain' maybe, if that helps xD).

Today's lunch: risotto with green peas and chili shrimp (no, I didn't make it XD)
  23. ^ Looks like it'll be Shaka's birthday gig btw (judging from the date and the session name), so it should be fun imo.

I've now listened to the album... it was a lot poppier than I expected (in a sugary way), and most of the tunes didn't strike me as memorable sadly. Basically the song you linked the video for was the best imo. There were some cool bits here and there tho, so it wasn't all that bad. Won't make it into my year-end list but it was okay for experiencing once and trying out something new.
