Before ppl get their hopes up: I'm guessing they're just rehearsing at the studio, not actually recording (at least judging from the setup and this being a one-night-only thing). Too bad tho.

Something cool I'm spinning at the moment: new Avernal album, great heavvvvy death fun. Haven't listened to these guys before, but seems like I should have. Same goes for Desaster, their new album seemed pretty cool on first listen too (tho I wasn't paying much attention, so gonna re-listen soon). Also, thanks Bear for mentioning Ripper in the March releases thread, gonna check them out, cuz they sound pretty sexy~

Only watching the new season of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, good enough for me so far.

^ I agree with you, I'm very sceptical about that remake... If anything, what keeps my hopes up a bit is the fact that during his promo for The Witch he mentioned how he hates like 90% of recent horror movies (that constantly re-use the same tropes), so in that light he made The Witch with a mindset like "okay, here's something I won't put in my movie..." So I hope this perspective pays off just as well with Nosferatu, tho there's really no need to re-imagine it imo.

The Witch - I had high expectations, and wasn't let down. This movie totally sucks you in, and manages to create a creepy unnerving vibe right from the start and maintains it until the very end without the use of jump scares (okay, there were maybe like 2-3 such moments, but it's all good). Beautiful, haunting and grotesque imagery, an excellent score that will make your skin crawl, and fantastic grim atmosphere. My only complaint was that there were no subtitles at all (I watched it as part of a film festival here), so the old-timey English was really really hard to comprehend at times, haha. Anyway, strongly recommended!!

Hardcore Henry - Brutal, cheesy, non-stop action B-movie fun, shot in "first-person" GoPro, Sharlto Copley is hilarious, that's it, go see it.

Oh wow, haha.

I think we can safely put these guys here... xD

Hey, whaddayaknow, the new single is pretty cool! The title track, while kinda repetitive, works nicely with its subdued melodic style. DE:SHOW has this almost rock'n'roll thing going on, and MiA whips out a groovy lil' solo to match (not the usual copy-paste shredfest). The last song keeps the spirit of the older MEJI' track with a similar title (Kase to chinou whatever...), pretty fun to listen to. Yay!

Dang, I have 6 hours of music to go through... and this is only the new-ish stuff. :<

SPEECIES & L.TB in da house! Gotta love the lineup for the recent gigs, wish I was there~ ;w;
-
^ Yup, pretty much. Kinda ridiculous imo.

^ Here's footage from the gig he did here in Hungary (full show I think): https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLA-C2TpvUKTYrVwikTDarmEXOsQqningE He performed at an anime con, so he whipped out a few theme songs too I guess... xD

We already know these songs I guess... I wish he'd just make some new music instead of leeching off the past. XD

The new Iggy Pop album was a pretty good one, I agree! Not top-notch material for me, but nice and enjoyable.

I hope more people will participate than last time (thank you, @beni XD), since this was a pretty cool/busy month imo. The 'rules', in case anyone forgot: Let's get started! MUNIMUNI - A KILLS A / You can't believe how much I waited for this release (well, any new release by them xD), and it sure delivered. Maybe I'm just biased, but this definitely touches AOTY territory for me, even if it's just a short EP of sorts. MUNIMUNI continue on the path of blurring early '80s goth rock and post-punk tendencies with a dark and obscure visual kei flair, wearing their influences on their sleeves. Great tunes, awesome atmosphere. Cobalt - Slow Forever / One of my friends turned me onto these guys at the beginning of the year, so my hype for the new album wasn't all that huge, but I guess it would be similar for an old listener like me with MUNIMUNI: this new (double) album dropped after 7 years of silence! What a gargantuan, monolithic beast! Mixing black metal, progessive traits and just general extreme aggression, Cobalt forge some ungodly aural behemoths. Not an easy record. Domo Genesis - Genesis / First full-length from the Odd Future dude, after a handful of mixtapes that didn't really grab my attention. I stumbled upon the music video totally by accident, but it dragged me in HARD. What a delicious funky tune! The rest of the album isn't too far behind in terms of grooviness, nor quality. Top-notch productions, some cool raps, and overall nice chillin' feeling. Perfect accompaniment to warm spring/summer afternoons and nights. Honorable mentions ギャロ (THE GALLO) - DIAVOLO / Typical gallo kei, only this time it's even better! Can't complain. Guerrilla Toss - Eraser Stargazer / Totally crazy and funky noise-pop that fans of Melt-Banana and Afrirampo would dig. Church of Misery - And Then There Were None... / Not as remarkable as their last effort, but solid nevertheless. Doom on!
