  1. I wasn't sure where to put this so please move it if it's better suited for another subforum! There was a relatively interesting article on e-aidem interviewing the chief manager of the Tokyo likea branch about why VK cd shops continue in an age where CD purchases are on the decline. It's not every day there's an actual article on VK as a whole and their conversation was more interesting than I expected so I wanted to translate it for anyone who might be interested. I only included the pictures that helped in the understanding of what was being discussed and the only text here is the actual interview and not the blog-ish portions about the interviewer's visit, but you can see the full article here. H: Ai Hinishi, the interviewer M: Matsumoto, chief manager of Likea Tokyo Hope this was interesting to someone... I was unaware of the history of the store as a UK rock shop.

i really wish they could put out the dvd, it would be a license to print money :'( also i heard Kaoru and more unusually, the entirety of BUCK-TICK was there which is pretty dang cool for him. but he didn't do a B-T cover this time, lmao... idk if anyone else was considering buying the photobook since they decided to put it up for mail order... i got mine today and i must say it's pretty high quality. solid hardcover and quite large! there's not too much i can say about the inside without sounding ridiculous bc obviously i think the subject is an attractive dude, but in general the photography is quite nice (despite what my iphone camera quality might suggest)... it's pretty pricey but for collectors/hzk stans i recommend it.

i hope we can at least agree that being explicitly fired is usually a fuck you from your bandmates. bandmen do dumb shit all the time and sometimes even mysteriously leave due to musical differences after being put on blast for dumb shit by fans... but when you get fired, and publicly outed for doing deplorable! stuff, your band doesn't want you to save face. so it's all the more interesting that his other group is carrying on... definitely makes me want to know what happened even more lmao

DAE gya are evil harpies who get u fired for having a gf and consuming alcohol? since that happens so much lmao anyway these guys are so irrelevant i couldn't even find the juice on tanuki, and everyone was making fun of the announcement because the japanese is weird. no word on the future of glamscure anywhere either

sick 5 month bump because the setlist at hzk's solo with takumi was kinda neato if you like covers 1. THIS COMA 2. anemone 3. above the skin 4. mizukagami (Cocco) 5. yuki no hana (Mika Nakashima) 6. keibetsu 7. kaze no yukue (L'arc~en~ciel) 8. MELODIES (Kiyoharu) 9. ain't afraid to die (Dir en grey) 10. FOREVER & EVER (LUNA SEA) 11. PHANTOM 12. ETERNITY
  6. i'm pretty sure it was real, there were a lot more native chinese speakers than native/high level japanese speakers in the fandom so the turnaround/accuracy of Silver Ash info was overall better & i think everyone's favorite sugizo stan kuri tried to bring them to the US since con bands were the big hotness then but then SARS happened... and after that + being banned from festivals and the like they never really fully recovered apparently they never officially disbanded and kuri's marketing business tried to relaunch them but then they fell off the planet again

i doubted this dude's commitment to sparkle motion anyway bc his solo project was active up until dexcore started and it the most tepid poppy shit on earth on top of that. i suspect he wants to go back to that kind of thing

BORN: i think Ryoga loves foreigners tbh... at one show he threw his waterbottle directly at me but he threw it so hard it bounced off my titties into the stratosphere. thanks lynch.: At one of their twomans with born, Akinori came out while born was playing and stood in the audience. he was literally right behind me for a long time and i didn't notice... when my friend pointed it out i turned around and made extremely awkward eye contact with him. he smiled at least but i felt bad lmao. i've also run into him while he with a girl in Nagoya so he probably thinks i'm the worst my friend and i also used to do this towel whipping thing during MIRRORS while everyone else headbanged because it would make hazuki laugh. i was at the show where hazuki had a fucking tantrum and dented his mic on the stand thing the vocalists have, too. i have a lot of lynch. memories but i think most of them are only interesting to me... UNDER FALL JUSTICE: i don't usually rush for the stage during rush songs because i have the balance of a newborn fawn and tend to fall off any steps, but i did it for my last show before going home to Canada... anyway Airo grabbed the back of my head and rubbed it lovingly for a weirdly long time when i went for it, it scared the fuck out of me Pentagon: Kanazawa AZ has these weird catwalks/ledges on all edges of the audience area so during the rush song the members went to different spots on them... i decided to rush Minpha for laughs and considering the dude looks like he weighs about as much as a bowling ball he yanked me so hard i lost my balance and had to hold onto him for dear life. sry chinpha Amelia Galaxy: i went to a super do-minor live to see Tokami and an ex-Siva band, and these guys were playing. everyone else was sitting and they had just a few fans... since they were really TRYING hard to get people up there and the vocalist tried to talk to us in English from onstage i parked myself in front of the hottest member and pretended i was having a ball. since i was the only one in front of him he bowed and waved at me when he left the stage lel. i also got invited as kankeisha for Matenrou Opera which is a band i don't really care about but i was geeked cause i was a few seats away from some of vistlip, duel jewel and versailles and it was just cool being there. i met the band after but mostly it was an awkward experience as the person i was with who was an actual fan of them froze up and i was basically like so how bout them yomiuri giants

this season is weird, the eliminations have been interesting but the actual challenges and the obligatory serious talk at the mirror before the fastforwarded runways... ugh. still better than both S7 and S8 but AS2 was a really hard act to follow.
  10. hazuki and ai are still butt buddies they just both wanted a monopoly on songwriting so hazuki struck out on his own. (there was even a fairly substantial rumor that ai's part time job was working for hazuki's mom's business lmao) @deadman posted the link but there were problems with the member's private relationships not staying private, Au putting up fan gifts on auction, and something about a fan sign made for the 10th anniversary being given to the band and then being found in the garbage outside the venue... a lot of their "old guard" fans were the sources of this information and it completely poisoned the well
  11. ok i shitposted in this thread once but now i want to real talk i was a little surprised Ai came back for solo work at all because he squandered all of his good will with deathgaze fans during their 10th anniversary. when i saw him he had a miserable amount of fans (fun fact one or two of the jouren were foreign tho, that was cool). naoki's post-dgz project isn't exactly killing it either. it's not like deathgaze was a top tier popular band in japan but the degree to which their fanbase has crumbled is actually a little breathtaking... i don't really see it for Ai in particular, but he keeps holding out against my expectations. maybe he's just gonna do this until he dies regardless of how it pays off

this is an interesting topic... i remember listening to beck, junkhouse, johnny cash, butthole surfers, xtc, sinead o'connor, alice cooper, eels, talking heads (apparently i loved "psycho killer" as a baby?) among others in the car as a kid with my parents. they've also introduced me to some more recent stuff like black lips, black rebel motorcycle club, and black keys before they blew up. my mom is a huge led zep fan and she also likes pink floyd, black sabbath, david bowie & neil young a lot. my dad's tastes are a little more eclectic and he's a big fan of old ass country, old blues (stuff like screamin jay hawkins) and 50s rock in addition to the kind of stuff my mom likes. ... basically i'm outclassed by my parents in the musical taste department in every way 🤔 i think they were glad i started listening to bands when the boy band craze died and i became a tween, even if they didn't understand them
  13. excuse u for not respecting his #weight #loss #journey

I'm a person that would have told you Jey from ReivieЯ sucked and I'd happily tell you that he sucks in his new band too -- but I listen to UNDER FALL JUSTICE so literally what the fuck do I know about good singing? If you asked everyone who complained about a band to list all of their likes you would surely find something to balk at too, so you can't take it too much to heart. I think a lot of it is just looking for validation about your subjective opinion, especially in cases where people seem to be raving about a band that you simply cannot stand. And sometimes it's basically just a meme, particularly if the fans of that band are on the overzealous side. (See: MH's perpetual Lycaon circlejerk/counterjerk, resquiat in pace blackdoll). In VK the trend towards major/highly produced bands is come and go and depends very much on the community you're in. There was a time on livejournal where it was a contest to find the most irrelevant do-minor kuso band and create a fully graphically kitted out community before anyone else could. If new fans could recognize the bandmen in your icons you were probably not elite enough. For every trend like that, there's a backlash somewhere. From someone is still very much on the outside and only recently delurked, I noticed. MH in particular likes to be pretty scathing. But imo it's just a trial by fire to dissuade people who might be more inclined to blindly stan than engage in serious conversation.

Ryo and Satsuki both cycled fan gifts to their boos lol Satsuki's drama is so long you could write pages about it but if there's gonna be a part two to this I don't wanna steal the thunder ( @Zeus if you want some info on him or anyone for part two that maybe you won't find outside of obscure JP language sources hmu). Recently I read up on the part where all his former fans protested at his live and left all of center stage in front of him empty... classique

i'm w/ you on this... my honest thoughts (esp when J and Hitoki) were announced as guests was oh god -- we're going to get a bunch of beyond sanded down songs. if you're going to work with legends, senpai who are like 10 senpai levels above you, you're not going to present them with your most unique songs. probably the opposite, in fact, you'll be going for pure distilled typical lynch.... i was really hoping they would pick someone who is a peer and maybe do more collaborative work with him as opposed to people Hazuki basically worships. but Hazuki's voice is the most appealing thing about TRIGGER from the sample... and i have the feeling the MV is going to be equally bland and focused on J being there. lynch.'s lead songs are always the same formula at the best of times but i just sensed this was not gonna be for me. also i REALLY miss the slap bass RIP WHEN are Reo and Asanao going to fucking write some songs btw -- Hazuki needs to just be left with the vocal melodies for like a year or two and Yusuke songs all sound the same in their own right... esp since Hazuki tweeted he's already planning out their next album stoooop that said BLACK OUT~ and DIES IRAE are the kind of song i go to lynch. shows for (to throw myself against a bar and break my neck w/ a bunch of hzk gya/gyao) tho and i can't get enough of how Hazuki's voice has become since D.A.R.K. so i'm still really into it

  23. fuck this post is a tasty masterpiece. where's the mention of Smells tho!! only vk (or at least related) band i know of with no guitars... totally butting in but HeartLand studio keeps a historical record of shows played and since it was one of ~the~ Nagoya live houses you can see a few mgr shows there starting from '95... interestingly they played with Malice Mizer, and here's a fun one from 2003: GULLET/ガゼット/SULFRIC ACID/カレン/Merry-go-round. i think their home livehouse was the legendary music farm but I can't really find any good lists of shows held there. seems they played with Shizuku..., Romance For~, and Of-J more than once at least. also i found this crazy fan dictionary that mentions some happenings as documented by a fan. it's typical trivia fluff (Hideno likes chocolate, Kazuma likes Kahimi Karie) but for a band that's a complete mystery it's kinda surreal to read.
  24. i've seen em both and i couldn't tell u the difference. still love u grandpa kazuma
