...... *crosses it off the list* Man I am so disappointed. But, really, not sure what I expected. It's sci-fi, of course the combat is just shooting. I still would've put up with it if the game had a 3rd-person option. Too bad.

E3 HYPE ?! Yeah, Nintendo hasn't gone yet but I don't really care about Nintendo anyway. There wasn't much I was excited about. My biggest hype is Assassin's Creed Odyssey, lol. I was, at one point in my life, rather into Greek mythology. This is more historical, obviously, but I still love the setting, I'm SUPER happy a female protagonist is an option, and I'm interested in the dialogue options/romance, which I'm sure will be hilariously terrible. Gameplay looks extremely similar to Origins which is fine by me. Ghost of Tsushima probably had the most beautiful trailer of the show. The wind blowing the tall grass and Japanese maple leaves was so gorgeous. I'm very happy the protagonist looks like an actual Asian dude. Would be perfect if they give an option for Japanese voice-over. Kind of got Assassin's-Creed-In-Japan vibes, that is to say, sort of stealth-focused and not much original in terms of combat, which is fine by me. (I still want an actual AC Japan/China because I WANT TO CLIMB ALL THAT SHIT can you imagine climbing giant buddha statues and jumping off the tallest pagodas CAN YOU?!?!!) Cyberpunk 2077, I am interested to know more about, mostly because it's the Witcher team making it. I'm far more interested in fantasy over sci-fi, and I've heard rumours that Cyberpunk will be mostly first-person?!? which is not fine by me. Yeah, didn't really care about anything else. Some cool looking games, but not stuff that I'd normally play, OR it's stuff that I played in Japanese already. It's cool that Tales of Vesperia (PS3 edition) is finally coming out in the West. It was the first game I played on my PS3 and the first game I platinumed (after 200 hours). Also, still my favourite Tales game. edit: Forgot to mention Death Stranding. I will most likely not play this game, because I've never touched a Kojima game before, but there is something charming about the idea of being a mailman walking through these vast empty landscapes. Especially the shot of him with a wrapped-up dead body strapped to his back (A commentator I was watching said "he's gotta get that one to Kratos" HEH HEH). I doubt the game will actually be like that, though.

Well, seems like the young people didn't vote anyway. Or too many of them were also drinking Ford kool-aid. All hail the Ford dynasty. My only comfort is E3 being this weekend so I can complain about video games instead.

Today is election day for Ontario. We're almost certainly going to elect a pseudo-Trump to lead us. Yaaaaaaay. (If you remember Toronto's crackhead mayor Rob Ford from a few years ago, well, the pseudo-Trump is his brother, Doug Ford) This timeline sucks.

The worst thing about daylight savings time is that I'm the only person in my house AND my office who is competent enough, or not too lazy, to change all the stupid clocks. In addition to wall clocks and alarm clocks, there are... Microwaves, stoves, thermostats, landline phones, cars, printers... Half of those things don't even need to have a clock.

holy shit I don't know anything about this series (Fist of the North Star) except that it appears to be manly as hell. And that this game is being made by the Yakuza team. I might actually play it..

I do not understand the hate for this band. I guess my taste leans more toward pop than most people here. WANDERLUST is my #1 album of 2017. "Kyou kara boku wa kaisatsuki" is my #1 song of 2017. Freshest shit I heard all year. Chizuru is one of my favourite singers right now, he has such a clear, clean voice & delivery. (just please stop doing that growl thing) The new look is concerning (especially considering how amazing some of their previous looks have been), but the previews sound like Pentagon so I'm not worried about their music, at least.

I honestly would have preferred it if Kiryu disbanded and My Dragon stayed. Kiryu's become pretty repetitive, while My Dragon is/was pure joy and happiness. (this is not sarcasm) Oh well. 11 songs is a very good run for a joke band. *pre-orders Kiryu's next single for no reason*

It is funny, I started taking the pill recently and I think it has given me worse mood swings. I was always very chill, or at least able to hide it when I was annoyed/angry, but now I find that I will snap and show that I'm pissed off. Other than that, I think the effects from the pill have been very positive.

I'm from Toronto area. I don't know anyone who seriously likes J-pop, let alone VK. Then again, I am a serious loner who doesn't know many people and doesn't care to meet more. I had a brief phase where I tried to spread VK to my facebook friends. I was mostly ignored. They were way more interested in shitty K-pop. GEE GEE GEE BABY BABY Fuck that. Only VK live I've been to is D'espairsRay when they came to Toronto in .... 2010? Wow that was a while ago. It was a pretty small crowd, and 3 of them were just my friends that I forced to come with me. None of them enjoyed the concert. (but one girl did say Hizumi had a nice voice)

Everything SHIVA/Crimson Shiva made ..after Tokiya learned to sing better.. was gold (to me), will be interesting to see how they sound after losing their guitarists.. I'm still not over that shock. (I hadn't been following ANY vk news for most of this year, just randomly went to their ohp last month and was like, why are there only 3 members in the photo OH SHIIIIIIT...)

I just wanted to comment on weird translation issues. I'm almost finished with Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth. The game gives you the option to play as a boy or girl. There are frequent instances of my female character being referred to as "that guy" or "sir", and there's even dialogue where other female characters will joke about how my character is looking at their boobs (or something similar to that). It's really strange unless they intended my character to be a well-known transgender lesbian lech. It seems more likely that the translator was not aware of the gender choice, and/or the original Japanese writing itself was written for a male character, with the gender choice being thrown in last minute. There are a few other Japanese -> English games I've played recently that all had egregious translation problems. Either awkward or flat-out wrong (and I notice because I play with Japanese voices). A good example is a line from Norn9 Var Commons. I don't remember the exact line, but it was something like "平みたいになるよ". The kanji 平 means "calm/peaceful/flat", and AFAIK is usually not used by itself. In this case, the 平 (Hei) is supposed to be a nickname for a guy called 平士 (Heishi), thus the translation should've been "You're going to become like Hei". But, the English line was "You'll become peaceful", which made zero sense, and I would've been really confused if I had not been listening to the Japanese voices. This all comes across as sloppy work. How are the editors not catching these errors? Do they even have editors?

I think most of the romanceable characters are jerks to you at the start, but as you build up hearts with them, they'll get nicer and more likable. I chose Sebastian. Had a couple of nice sweet moments with him <3

I caved in to the hype and bought Assassin's Creed Origins. I'd been reading people's impressions and seeing their screenshots/gifs on another forum, and just got more and more excited to play it. I was planning to wait for Black Friday sale, but on Friday night, Sony e-mailed me a 20% coupon for PSN store... .. it's pretty sad that I got 20% off, evaded sales tax because it was digital, and STILL HAD TO PAY $64. (At regular price, with sales tax, it would've cost $90.39. Such is Canadian life) ANYWAY, wow, what a great game. It's like playing a dumber Witcher 3, but in a way better setting, with a more likable character, with stealth archery and the ability to climb almost anything. I climbed up a huge obelisk for no particular reason (there was only bird shit at the top). I climbed up one of the pyramids of Giza and got an amazing view of Egypt. The world building and the actions of random NPCs are amazing. I was in a temple for some side quest and noticed a dog hanging out with a family. First dog I'd seen in the game. After running around for a bit, I heard the dog barking like crazy. I was like WTF shut up dog. I went to see it and it was actually chasing a random cat that had wandered into the temple. Holy shit. I could write a lot more about this kind of stuff but getting lazy now. Sure it still has that Ubisoft open world jank. At some point I'll probably get tired of side-questing, but that happened with Witcher too. I started on Normal difficulty, and while it was manageable, it wasn't super *fun* for me, so I dropped it to Easy. I'm enjoying headshotting fools with my bow (thank you, aim assist), and wrecking them in melee if they spot me. So satisfying. (well, it's maybe a little too easy, but that's better than being a little too hard) I will criticize the lack of dismemberment, though. I'm slicing this dude in the face with a khopesh (sickle sword), as part of the standard execution animation, so WHY ISN'T HIS HEAD FLYING OFF? I really love that his idle animation is his pet eagle landing on his arm. And look how pretty this area is. My favourite gameplay moment so far: Some idiot guard was chasing me. I climbed up a ladder and there was a ballista at the top. I got on it and aimed for the top of the ladder. As the guard reached the top, I fired it into his face and sent his dumbass flying. It was just like in my Game of Thrones.

Amazon in Canada is generally pretty shitty. I only order from Amazon 2-3 times a year. - The range of products is garbage compared to Amazon US. - I live less than one hour away from their warehouse, so I already receive packages in 1 day (UNLESS they decide to let it sit there for days before they actually ship it) - I have no use for Twitch Prime and Prime Video - There might be pre-order discounts, but I buy so few games at launch that it's not worth it to pay for prime just for those discounts. South Park was great. My memory of the first game is clouded, but I think I liked Fractured better. The combat was more interesting and moderately challenging (I played on the hardest difficulty and didn't die in combat once.. came really close tho). I spent about 25 hours on it and almost 100% everything. I think it's worth buying now if you're a big fan of South Park and you liked Stick of Truth... and if you find toilet humour really funny. (but it will probably have a good discount on black friday...) For the record, I am not actually a big fan of South Park OR toilet humour, and I still loved the game. There are enough moments that remind you that these are kids playing superhero (like when battles get randomly interrupted by "CAR!!") that make it quite charming.

Amazon delivered South Park yesterday, I guess they just like to scare me with their inaccurate shipment/delivery estimates. Played only 2 hours, but loving it so far. Even though I feel it's relying too much on fart/poop "jokes", and it's referencing a whole lot of episodes I haven't seen cuz I haven't watched South Park since I was a teenager. I like it for basically the same reasons I liked the first game.. nostalgia from the perfectly-rendered graphics/animation, plus decent/good RPG systems.

Anyone hyped for Assassin's Creed Origins? I was iffy on it. I really love the series, specifically, sneaking up on dudes and jamming my hidden blade through their faces. The games were generally easy enough for my low-skill lazy playing. So I was concerned when I heard they changed up the combat, and removed towers/viewpoints and minimap. I've never played a game with one of those compass bar things. But now I hear they are putting in difficulty options. And the trailers/gameplay videos look very pretty. (granted, I'm not sure how pretty it will look on a launch PS4, but I'm not that picky). Plus, Egypt is a cool setting, way more interesting than European city #6. I will probably pick it up on Black Friday if there's a good discount. YOU CAN PET CATS.

I got my shiny platinum trophy for Dragon Quest XI last night. 10 weeks, in-game timer says 140 hours... ok I'm sure I left my PS4 on sometimes, or I was multitasking while playing so that inflated the hour count BUT STILL I feel like the game is waaaaay too long. Don't want to spoil things, but I'll just say that I had to re-explore a bunch of places and it made the game kinda repetitive. Overall, though, it's a really great classic-style JRPG. I have a complaint about a minor thing called "marriage" in this game. Read this if you're not gonna play the game. Or even if you ARE going to play it, because it's such a minor thing. After beating the game, there is a secret code you can enter to be awarded a digital copy of the original Dragon Quest for PS4. However, I can't get it, because I'm playing a Japanese game on my American account, and the game isn't on the American store. And I tried logging in to my Japanese account to redeem it, but it didn't work because I have to beat the game on that account first. I really hope that once the game comes out in English, I'll be able to redeem the code, otherwise fuck everything. (not like I would make time to play an ancient NES JRPG that I beat 20+ years ago, anyway?) Alright, looking forward to my next big game... however stupidass Amazon.ca says they aren't going to ship it until Friday. I've had this game pre-ordered for 1.5 YEARS!!! That's what I get for not being a Prime member..???
-
Glad to see they have included all of those 12 monthly 1-song singles they did. Was afraid those would be hard to find. Gonna go pre-order these albums.

Going to say it's been worth it, so far! The game has got some beautiful environments, and the characters are pretty interesting. Played all weekend and I haven't even met my waifu Martina yet.. In-game clock is at 20+ hours, but that's definitely inflated. I named the hero "Hime-sama" (Princess), because yes, I am pretending he is a girl dressed as a boy. He looks girly anyway. (But now it's a bit awkward cuz one party member calls him "Hime-sama-sama" and another says "Hime-sama-chan") Pros + JUMP BUTTON with (unintentionally?) hilarious stiff animation and sound effect. Of course I abuse it by hopping around endlessly. + When the hero investigates pots and barrels, he just does a "FUCK THIS THING" move by picking it up and trashing it. As if breaking it is the only way to look inside it. What a psychopath. By the way, "horse shit" is something you can find inside. Dunno if it has a use. + Super nostalgic, with classic monsters, music cues, and sound effects. Also has the usual puff-puffs, false yes/no choices, small medals, casino (tho I haven't reached it yet) Cons - No voice acting, which seems odd for a modern-looking PS4 game.. (I got used to it tho, and now use my imagination to make voices for them) - Music is apparently midi/synth-quality, seems to be recycled from previous games, and gets repetitive. The composer is a super old douchebag. I just started to turn on youtube videos or other music while playing (unless there's a cutscene). - There is a skill point system, but I feel like progression is reaaaally slow because you only get 2-3 points per level, and some skills require like 10-20 points.. hopefully they eventually give more points per level..

GOOO DOWNLOAD GOOOOOOOOO Estimated cost of $120 canadian to buy this game.. that's the cost of 1.5 full-price games... WORTH IT (i hope)

Yeah, that is written in the tweet in the first post of this topic. Here is a tweet from CindyKate bassist Ma-aya (currently Shohei, bassist of Arlequin) Interestingly, I think he mentions that he'd been discussing CindyKate revival with Yui? :/ Listening to my fave song right now. "Daijoubu sa, oyasumi~ *chu*"

Damn, CindyKate is still one of my all-time favourite bands EVER (not just in VK), and Sami wrote/performed some great songs with them. RIP

I'm struggling to remember what I played on SNES emulator. It's been a good 15-20 years since then.. Aside from re-playing the shit out of Final Fantasy VI, I think I enjoyed Terranigma, Chrono Trigger, Seiken Densetsu 3, Sailor Moon RPG, Breath of Fire 1 & 2, Bahamut Lagoon, Dragon Quest 5 & 6, Super Mario RPG, Front Mission, Tenchi Muyo.. Some will require an English translation patch, not sure how easy those are to find these days.. (and yeah, I abused the hell out of cheats & save states)
