jduv86 reacted to saltofstones in new band "Purple Stone" has formed
The beginning sounded familiar, then I realized it sounds almost exactly like Dezert's song MONSTER with a bit of Mejibray's Sabato thrown in the mix.

jduv86 reacted to Zeus in Sadie new album "MADRIGAL de MARIA" release
Pls. Sadie is a unique band in visual kei for the sole fact that no matter how much time they take to prepare their next release, it has virtually no factor in how good it is. They hacked together their (undisputedly) best album in the span of a few months but because they were on the ball the result was good. Subsequent albums that they "spent more time on" ranged from decent to terrible. They also sandwiched EP's between those albums, some that came out in the blink of an eye, and even those were all over the place ranging from good to bad.
I take nothing from the fact that it's "too soon" to release an album for them because if they're on point it will be good. If they aren't, it won't. Delaying it by a few months won't change a thing.

jduv86 reacted to ichi in When, Where and How did you first discovered Japanese Music?
I first encounter with Japanese music was more than 10 years ago. I saw L'Arc~en~Ciel's PV, Blurry, for the first time and since I wasn't aware/familiar with the culture and VK, I briefly had a crush on hyde thinking that he's a girl.

jduv86 reacted to AliceAuua14 in VK Band Recruiting!
I hope yall find some bandmates. It'd be cool to have more partners in the scene. Hit me up, I'll try to help you find bandmates. I kinda help mentor a lot of band folks in NYC, the way I was mentored by a few dudes when I was younger.
So if you need help with song arrangement - finding venues, or booking - bandmates - or tough band choices, feel free to hit me up. Obviously I mean to help "Desperate Despair" - but this applies to anyone in this chat.

Awww....lol. I'd take you into a band with me! It's always refreshing to see a female play an instrument instead of just being a singer in the band. Alas, you are too far away too....

jduv86 reacted to togz in Truly crappy Western "visual kei" inspired music
I... didn't realize how many bands were out there..... Honestly... I feel like there are people who can pull off the vk look, or at least a good inspired look overseas, I think the main problem is a lot of bands that form just want to look cool and be like the bands they listen to, but don't really know their instruments. Plus playing that kind of music... or under that genre, it's difficult to find people who want to as well. For example metalcore it's easy to find guitarists and vocalists, hell everyone and their mom does metalcore vocals. I've been in bands before, but i just feel if the right musicians got together there could be a successful decent sounding vk inspired band out there somewhere. .___.

jduv86 reacted to Velovelo in Truly crappy Western "visual kei" inspired music
DISCLAIMER: This might result in a loss of either hearing, intelligence or good music taste. You have been warned. And don't take this lightly. You might have to puke later on. Also, I know this topic is pretty much a no-brainer, since most of this stuff follows the same agenda of being crap. But it's all fun and games until someone's ears start to bleed. Anyway, let's start.
I am still in awe about how some of these western "VK" bands are as bad as they are. I cannot get my mind off it.
Most western bands are being laughed upon for their chosen direction, but admittedly, there are decent ones.
But there's also a shitload of bad stuff coming from there. (Why, hello, japanese scene! Give us some Maria Cross! Only maybe not)
I'd like to start this thread with a hefty load of fail. And there you go, my dear masochists.
(there is more stuff there, if you prefer to listen to it at your own risk)
Sad thing is, the vocalist was in a pretty cool band as a bassist before. But wow, this really proves that you shouldn't just switch to something else on a whim unless you can somehow pull it off. It really sounds like they never rehearsed it.
Well, does it? The studio version isn't as bad, but it is still very painful. I don't want to describe what's going on there too much, as it might insult some disabled people.
The fact that people applaud and like them should be some kind of indicator that you can still sell shit at the value of gold. Ever had the urge to taste a sugar-coated piece of turd? Fear not, for this will be the first incentive for you to do so instead of listening to this. I'm not putting a finger on what's the better decision, though.
I should bet on it, if I were to create the worst song ever, I'd be all over the news. Unlike these guys. Because being purposely bad nets you enough attention and it actually requres some skill and intelligence, Apparently. But these guys aren't even good at being bad. It's pitiful.
Mind you, this isn't even close to most weaboo-kei bands. This is just amazingly crappy in several ways. Enjoy. And please don't file a lawsuit in case you do suffer some cerebral damage there. It could happen.
P.S.: if you happen to find something similarly awful, share it. Do it.

jduv86 reacted to miyuu in VK Band Recruiting!
random i would prefer too to see a woman play an instrument instead of being the singer.
indeed especcially for vkei is difficult for girls. also why would you want to have only an audience that is 90% of girls.
but if you have a random vkei band with friends in your area i don't think it would matter at all.
generally i think it's a talent for a girl if she can make other girls to like her. some girls just have it natural others not.
probably for vkei she must have some kind of boyish attitude or looks to succed.

jduv86 reacted to Valicious in Single People Thread
I was at the point where I just stopped thinking about it, but now it just feels like I'm constantly trying to get comfortable and I just can't. It's that constant prickling at the edges of my mind that won't let me just live in peace. I'm not looking for a wild romance or the dates you see in movies, just the warmth and security of knowing that another person thinks of you as much as you do them.

jduv86 reacted to SUBLIMINAL in Saddest video game moments (probable spoilers herein!)
Steven Spielberg says, "I will accept video games as a story-telling medium when someone can honestly say, 'I cried at level 17.'" And it got me thinking about how many times I might have cried during a video game and the scenes that triggered it, so! Has a video game ever moved you emotionally? A particular character, story arc or scene? Let's dispute Spielberg! Feel free to provide clips.
SPOILERS PAST THIS POINT!
01. Shadow of the Colossus - Agro
02. Lost Odyssey - Kaim and Lirum
There are more, but I figured I'd give you guys the opportunity to share yours first.
