  1. So I went to the ameblo of this male pr0n actor named Kenta and saw this picture. Kenta wrote that he was playing darts with this guy on the right (same age as him, so born around year 1982?) who is a bandman, and his name is Hachi.

Now, I totally wouldn't have dropped my jaw if this guy on the right doesn't totally look like Dolly's Hachi

Right? Right? Don't you think he looks like Dolly's Hachi? v Also it seems that Hachi has blogged about playing darts a few times (although it's not an uncommon hobby)... and I think Hachi's birthday is August 2, 1982.

  2. A new 160GB iPod

After 5 years of abusive use, my old iPod finally "died". That is, the audio jack is messed up and sound only comes out on 1 side of the earphones. Otherwise the old iPod is still relatively fine, surprisingly (o_o)

  4. Slipknot, they're still doing all that stupid mask teenage angst faggotry but they're still doing it! Not like the other terribad 90s nu-metal bands that turned into shitty ass pop rock y'know? 10-15 years later abd Slipknot is still being angsty faggots, RESPECT.

Lol. I don't mind bands wearing stupid masks, it's just the fact that they consciously try to appeal to angsty 12-year-olds that pisses me off. I like some of their songs, but not all of them are very interesting.

Aside from that, basically every metal/power metal/symphonic metal/math metal/etc bands that play really well but don't always have catchy hooks and end up sounding too repetitive and boring.

I also respect X and Yoshiki for the astral magnitude of their success. But I'm not into X. Also Yoshiki the entrepreneur makes me facepalm every time, effective as his business methods may be. Oh and the fact that he's so "fuck yeah I'm a veekay god who lives in LA and I getz all teh white chicks". K bro you have the rights to do whatever you want because you worked hard for it...

  5. I did this when I was 16. Before I was super into the hardcore/punk scene, and then my favorite bands started breaking up and stuff. Also, I tried to end my general obsession with non-mainstream rock music. Somehow instead I got really into watching the anime Honey & Clover and only listened to the artists in the soundtrack all the time (Spitz, Suga Shikao). Actually that gradually led me to discover japanese punk bands and visual kei, and veekay gradually led me back to listening to hardcore/punk. Lol, the irony.

  6. lol awesome thread XD

About Pachelbel's "Canon in D", I think we need to draw the line between the songs that simply use the descending 3rd sequence (the same chord progression) vs. the ones that also use the melody/arrangement quite closely enough to resemble Pachelbel's piece specifically. Although yes it's quite tricky, because the characteristic melodic gestures in "Canon in D" doesn't start until one-third to halfway through the piece, and most of the rest are just some long-ass chords (- _ -)

LM.C and Arc are definitely direct copy pasta. I would also consider "Fender" by Moran as pointing a reference directly "Canon in D", even though I don't know how much of it are copied directly, but for the entire song "Fender" uses string instruments that are doing legato gestures very similar to "Canon in D".

I'm not sure about The Cherry Cokes' "Forward Again" because I can't find the full song. If you're referring to the instrumental part with the keyboard(?) riff, I don't remember hearing that exact riff in "Canon in D" (I might be wrong, maybe I just didn't hear it because it's not the main melody). Same about hide's "Rocket Dive", if you're referring to the guitar riff 2.5 minutes into the song, I don't remember hearing the same thing in Pachelbel. As for L'arc's "Blurry Eyes", I don't think it's close enough for copy pasta-considerations.

Because if we say they're "copy pasta" just because of the chord progression, then we might as well also list every VK song with a descending 5th sequence chord progression (which is every other 90s VK song) and say they are "copy pasta'd" from every classical piece with a descending 5th sequence (which is every other classical piece ever). But I don't think that's fair to say, because using sequences is like just using music theory.

  7. Like a blinding flash of the obvious... yazzmad. Also similar bands such as Umbrella, the god and death stars, and DISH.

I checked out yazzmad on Youtube after reading your post. Sounds interesting, wasn't quite what I was expecting, but in a good way. Thanks, I discovered a new band today ^^

edit: ah, 3 out of the bands you mentioned are doing the lo-fi thingy.. or is it Youtube sound quality? lol

  8. Does anyone know any news from Sugar's Loki? His blog hasn't updated since April last year, so it's been almost a year already. :/

Good news, Loki is still active on twitter: https://twitter.com/Loki_gantzfeld

It seems like a lot of ppl in vk have migrated from ameblo to twitter ^^. I dunno what musical activities he's been up to, but the good news is he's still in contact with musicians who are active (...unlike some people, sigh...)
