OH YEAH, so excited for this. Their mini-albums have always been better when compared to the full albums. Pre-ordering this today.

It would have needed to be filmed in 2012, because by 2013 they had new costumes (early January, actually)

Hiro does the body paint thing on occasion, still. Particularly since every other member is in their Omega outfits.

Guessing it will be the last single before a new album. Expectations are high after the awesome ORB!

Orb was good, it's b-side was better, I loved loved LOVED their last album so it is going to be hard to top and my expectations are high. Hoping this is the last single before an album later this year.

Thanks for the review Zess, I was already thinking of not listening to this and you pretty much confirmed my doubts. It's pretty sad that lynch has become like this... but oh well it happens all the time.

    Score: | How disappointing...

Let's get something out of the way early: this album sounds like shit.

The production is abysmal. Their standards have been slipping ever since I BELIEVE IN ME, and the EXODUS EP released not too long ago was a little dry for my taste. In comparison, this is a desert. A vast, barren desert where the bass and treble are too damn high, and the midsection is non existent. For a casual listener of music, this may not be an issue. But for an enthusiast like me who invested a few hundred bucks into his listening equipment, I hear nothing but production flaws. It's enough to turn potentially great songs into good songs, and mediocre songs into indistinguishable rumbling, and it's enough to take a point off the top automatically.

There is the odd occasion in which I can overlook lackluster production if the quality of the music is great. I've been a fan of lynch. for years, and they are one of my favorite bands, so this would be one of those times...except it's not. This album is both too long and too repetitive, and whatever ideas lynch. had didn't stretch over all songs equally. There are tracks like ENVY, DEVIL, and PHOENIX that are okay, but there's nothing that's really good. Just average songs and shit songs.

What's lacking is enough to scratch off two more points. There's not enough clean vocals, pop influence, or melodic variety for my tastes. For example, BULLET was decent up until the one minute mark, where the band launches into 2014's dullest breakdown. If it were just BULLET, I'd write it off as a bad track. But there are too many nameless, faceless tracks that follow one after the other that feel like cut and paste sections of melodies. Almost every track is awash with monotone harsh vocals, which becomes unpleasant to listen to after the sixth or seventh track. If it weren't already bad enough, every time there's an opportunity for a track's arrangement to grow they either repeat themselves or launch into a breakdown. The songs themselves feel too constrained and recycled, and while I don't mind if a band recycles riffs from time to time, three times in one album is too much. If you want examples, attempt to describe to yourself the differences in riffs on MAD, MERCILESS, and GUILLOTINE. I can't.

So 2014 comes and goes and lynch. swings and misses again. The constant misplaced metalcore influences are irritating, and lynch.'s inconsistency on the detail and creative fronts are sinking their credibility as a band that can produce decent albums at worst. If they're going to continue to show so little compositional enthusiasm, they may as well just stop.

^I think that's exactly the reason they should change a little. They've been around for 13 years, they've done well for those year and they have the ability to experiment a little with a new sound

Periphery: I kept their stuff but I took a break from them before realizing ho dumb I was. Mathcore, djent(even though they stopped doing it too much), and Nobuo Uematsu influenced music. Insane guitar solos, 7-string wonders, awesome lyrics. It's hard not to be obsessed

MUSE: I really don't need to say why. If you don't know why someone could be obsessed with them, check out their The 2nd Law album and you won't be confused anymore

UNDIVIDE: It's Leda. He's my God, my idol.

Augie1995 reacted to Zeus in Transcodes VS BAD rips aka WMP rips.
dbPowerAmp is just fine. Sometimes it is just the release and there's nothing anyone can do about it.
We have a policy of "tag first, ask questions later" because if we were to ask everyone who uploaded a release what they used to rip it, we'd only get a response back 5% of time. And that's before we even start determining if it is a transcode or not. It's a sad fact that people here will claim credit for releases that aren't theirs and then disappear when it's discovered to be a YouTube rip or if someone asks for a higher quality re-rip.
Every once in a while there is just a CD that looks to be low quality, but isn't. We flag it just to be on the safe side, but if you know it isn't you have two options:
(If you bought the actual CD): Just send back a picture of your CD case. That's all you need to show me for me to know that you bought it. (If you bought it online): Tell us where you got it from. Sometimes online vendors put up low-quality MP3's for sale. I point the finger mostly at iTunes, but I've been caught with it too. Since in this case it isn't your fault, we'll leave the tag there so other people know what the deal is and then you can just mention that you bought it online but the quality is crap and that you are getting your refund / a higher quality copy as soon as possible.
Note that "my rip" means that your only option is 1 and "bought online" means your only option is 2. If you say "my purchase", you'll have to specify to us which one it is.

People seem to think that the transcode tag means that we're going to ban you next time you do it. It doesn't. All it is is a way for people who do care about musical quality to know that we think the file may be suspicious and to check for themselves with both eyes and ears. If you don't care, it shouldn't matter. We only come for your head if you consistently ignore us like Demon Android.

Augie1995 got a reaction from Tetora in How important are lyrics?
I don't think lyrics are all that important...and they are. I have mixed feelings about it.

Whether it's involving japanese music or music with English lyrics, it's still equally important as it is unimportant.

There are some songs that I connect with that the lyrics just make me get all gooey inside or hit me hard that I in turn have to hit a wall to feel manly again, but then there are other that do that without the lyrics. I remember back when I listened to The GazettE's VOICELESS FEAR. I hardly understood the lyrics back then since my understanding of the Japanese language was miniscule. Still that was enough to not make me feel interested.

I also listen to a lot of metal, heavy metal, prog, all that. When there are growls, it's tough to understand what is being said but some songs can still influence me in a really good way.

Here's a band who's vocalist is hard to understand (Even though he doesn't scream or growl) and yet the song still makes me go nuts and it makes me appreciate the song about the same as if I knew what he was singing.

Kind of disappointing, the amount of brand new full length songs, but I'm sure they'll be at least pretty good as long as they are nothing at all like Kaisenzenya I will like them. I'm still reeling from how great From Kurayami was, such an excellent B-Side.
