...Oh dude...I just noticed that..Why is he so pale? He needs to go outside more. In anycase..he looks like a guy XD thats what I was more leaning towards anyway. Mind you I've always thought his nose is oddly pointy. :T

    oh god..this is like the toughest topic ever. A part of me really really prefers clean beautiful vocals, but I cannot deny the fact that emotion is important. ( Cause I wouldn't love Dir en grey if I only listened to AMAZING vocals...cause unfortunately Kyo is odd in a sense where he has an AMAZING range, and I'm quoting MY vocal coach here, yet he is so raw and untrained that very likely each time he sings hes slowly and likely painfully destroying his voice.) I really hate when people confuse screaming and growling for "emotional singing". There are tones of vocalists who sing normally without having to result to any screaming and growling and yet are considered to be very good at expressing emotion. But I do feel like a lot of jrockers tend to hide behind screaming, using it as a way to "express" emotion, while in singing they sound inexpressive. As someone already pointed out Satsuki is good at showing emotion while singing. He doesn't need to scream and still his singing expresses every little influx of feeling he has while singing the song. I truly respect him for that. Mind you I've also noticed that he can't do that with every song ever. There are songs where he has no expression what so ever. Same with Kyo. And the weird part is, sometimes when you think you are singing expressively, you aren't. Its difficult to convey emotion through song. Its likely sometimes that even they do not entirely connect with the songs they sing. But in no way do I think emotional singer who sounds like crap is better than someone who worked their ass off to sound FLAWLESS and yet fails at expressing emotion. I think when you DO get a combination of someone who HAS both those aspects do you get a truly talented vocalist/singer. Heres something weird. ( and yes I'm gonna use him as an example) Andrea Bocelli ( yes I went there lol) He stars off pretty emotionless. Dunno why. But as the song progresses it becomes amazing. And can you imagine being THERE? Watching it live? I don't usually like opera singers, but I do like him. He has a good voice and is capable of expressing emotion through his voice. Heres another example of a beautiful voice and fantastic expressiveness. The interesting part is that recorded this song sounds very BLAND and dead. But these are not Jrock examples. And they were both Live...which at times gives people an advantage. The atmosphere always helps, especially if you are in the audience watching. There is something I discovered for myself with recorded music and that if no matter how sad it is, if it does not bring a feeling of some sort of happiness to me, its a dead song. What do I mean by dead song? A dead song is something that can in fact move you, but it physically moves you. The song itself creates the emotion for you, its controlling you. An alive song is the type that when you listen to it, emotion flourishes from inside of you. It doesn't have to be something to do with the songs emotion or lyrics at all, but you feel it inside, whatever feeling it may be. And that emotion inside you starts to control you. I've decided this only recently from taking Aesthetics philosophy course. We were discussing if ART is dead, and if music is dead. I'd say for most part MOST music we hear now is DEAD. Especially all the crap on the radio. At the same time I am not saying all mainstream music is the DEAD music. There are cases where an "alive" song does in fact leak through. Its those very songs that are ALIVE which will go on LIVING long after its composers are dead. I'll give an example of what I think is an ALIVE song and what is I think is a DEAD song, from the same band. Yes Namamekashiki Ansoku, Tamerai ni Hohoemi by Dir en grey is what I think is an Alive song. If I could express to any of you what this song makes me feel you'd be totally confused. Its a song that makes me feel like I can breathe again. Like the world is not that bad. It doesn't make sense with the lyrics tho at all. Its the music, and the way Kyo sings. An example of a dead song by Dir en grey is Saku The song dictates you to be angry. And that anger comes from the outside. Not inside of you. Which works well for when you are in fact angry at something and then you turn this baby up and its ANGER GALORE basically. But if you listen to it while happy or giddy, I find that there is no enjoyment of this song anymore. Namamekashiki Ansoku... I can listen to no matter what mood I am in, and the feeling that comes from inside, will still come. I don't want to use the words "makes me" because it doesn't make me do anything, except feel. Saku makes me THINK I am feeling something, while I am not. Saku controls what I am feeling. Namamekashiki makes me actually FEEL. Its an odd concept I know,but I do not know how else to explain it. And I'm not saying that ALL BALLADS are the ALIVE songs and all fast paced songs are dead. Thats not the case at all. Any song can be alive if it makes YOU feel alive. Basically. I went off topic...but maybe somehow this will be relevant..D: Also that seemed long...sorry guys ><;

Well in anycase at least you get bonus points for trying to be open minded.
  10. dracolicious13

...Why did you even try ??? I just looked at them and KNEW.
  11. dracolicious13

Just cause its an old post doesn't mean I can't comment Maybe L'arc en ciel was visual way back when, but people kinda go " Oh right..that did happen...oh well" They do know and love L'arc...but not their visual old selves. X Japan they DO KNOW...Gackt I said they do....Dir en grey surprisingly enough is 50/50. Some know them some go "WHO??". To them Vkei is not something they are willing to listen to. If they like a visual band, usually its either really old stuff like X Japan, or hide...or someone that did appear on Oricon charts. Like SID, quite a bit of people know SID. Why? They are poppy. So those that do like POP would like them. People who like rock though, honest to god either listen to bands like One ok rock, or other bands who wouldn't be caught DEAD wearing make up. The guys in Japan I've spoken too are really into British rock recently. I guess its kinda like how we foreigners listen to Japanese music because its different to us, they are more likely to listen to OUR music, because its different to THEM. Ah I hope I made sense my brain is not functioning D:

Always found it weird how Leda went from looking like that ( far left) To this Like...without make up, Japanese guy..with blonde hair..alright deal..WITH make up he looks like a hot chick. D: I for one prefer him with no or minimal make up. He doesn't need it. :T
  13. dracolicious13

*chokes on her tea* WUT? You serious? All the Japanese people I've ever talked to have NO idea who any of those bands are that DO appear on the top ten charts. The most they know is Gackt... accomplishment there. And as soon as you say you like "Visual kei" they go.." oh...*looks away*". Visual kei in Japan is like the lowest of the low...most people would be embarrassed to say they like a Visual Band. :T Anyway I shall throw in more hate. - Gazette: Cause apart from like a few good songs they are really repetitive. Mind you I really HATE their fandom though. Oh boy are they crazy. ... mm this leads me to my next point.. - Vkei fandom in GENERAL: Oh dear LORD. You fight and bicker about EVERY GOD-DAMMED THING! So-and-so releases new album, you complain. The album has a new musical direction. You whine about how their old sound was better. The band goes back to their old sound on their new single. You cry about how its an old sound now and they should try something new. EH? Make up your mind...do you hate them or not? And if you do hate the new sound why are you complaining? Not like the band is going to read your random hate comment on YOUTUBE and go " hmm..well that one person hates our new sound..maybe we should go back to the old one?". Seriously. TEH FUCK. ( Deluhi fandom I'm looking at you here. Cause at times I want to strangle all of you. And don't give me shit about how Juri sounded better. He sounded like a dying ELK in most of the songs in SURVEILLANCE. The oh-so-vkei-vibrato-of-doom is not sexy or hot. Its plain GARBAGE. ) - Most VOCALISTS of VKEI: Omg...so many have this DISGUSTING Vibrato that is not OPERA..or cool...it just nasty sounding. Its forced, unnatural. Advice from me? TAKE DAMN VOCAL LESSONS. ADVICE NUMBER TWO; NOT FROM THAT WOMAN WHO VOCAL COACHES ALMOST EVERY VKEI BAND VOCALISTS AND THEIR MOTHER. She is an OPERA SINGER. SHE WONT TEACH YOU HOW TO SING ROCK. Find a vocal coach WHO AT THE VERY LEAST, does not DO OPERA. Your vowels are still horrible, your vibratos are everywhere, you can't transition from chest voice to head voice AT ALL properly. *rips out hair*. - Delusional fans are also annoying..god..you're not going to marry so-and-so...your fat and ugly..go to a gym instead. - Fans that think JAPANESE music is GOD and is the only music relevant in this world. Uh..stfu. All those "J-rawk" bands wouldn't be have there been no Western Music. It concerns me that people would think themselves as such Music GURUS when they have such a narrow view of what good music is. You f-ing hypocrites. - Fans who go to concerts, ROCK concerts..and JUST STAND THERE STARING AT THE BAND. Buy a DVD if you're gonna do that. You wont get hurt that way and wont have to waste your time typing up a long ass entry on your livejournal how _____ band's fans are violent and mean. I ran out of hate...I basically hate 90% of Vkei...maybe more. Whatever's left over is older stuff that I still think is good and maybe some random new stuff...tho not a lot. I'mma go listen to some Beethoven now..*walks away*

Japanese: X Japan- Endless rain. ( I bawled when I saw it live.) Deluhi- Orion Once Again, Hoshi no nai yoru ni Dir en grey- Mushi Not Japanese: Mad World- Gary Jules Rise- Origa ( every SINGLE time I'll be driving and if this song comes on I'll sing along..until the Russian chorus (around 3:36 in the song)..and I CHOKE. The tears just overflow.)
  15. dracolicious13

MUCC...Tatsurou is a HUGE turn off..both physically and vocally..but I got past that due to the fact that they DO have good music. < not much of a story D:
  16. If I didn't find out about Jrock..I would be still listening to Good Charlotte..or something like that..D: In an odd turn of events I actually when from crappier music to better. ( tho cannot say jrock is godly or whatever...there some really amazing rock music from other countries as well, including the US. )
  17. dracolicious13

Russian pop & K-pop. But my current guilty pleasure is Grenade by Bruno Mars.
  18. dracolicious13

Tho the V is what brought me into this fandom ( Damn you stupid teenage self) it is what turns me off from most of the bands. And good thing too, the more ridiculous a band looks the worse they sound.
  19. dracolicious13

None, spare the poor souls the agony. In all honesty tho it depends on their musical preferences, cause say if they like poppy songs more than hard rock, I would not throw Dir en grey at them. ( Mind you if they really like POP, Jrock is not an option. Throw Johnny's at them instead.)
  20. dracolicious13

^ This...has been my ringtone for a good year now...Its the only thing that makes me PICK up my PHONE
  21. dracolicious13

Oh shes not bad looking..but its just the other guys looks o fragile in comparison. And that make up is waaay too much. A bit less make up and I'm sure she'd be cute.
  22. dracolicious13

Yea those are bad D: I'd like to add this jem to the list of bad... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mWSFXQMgxTU Chick looks manlier than the band...and WHAT THE HELL IS THE PLOT?? On a side note..Golden Bomber has weird pvs..XD
  23. dracolicious13

Thats a mistranslation. It says his KOUHAI is getting married. Google is horrible at translating..just saying.
  24. dracolicious13

...People keep saying Juri of Deluhi..but um I understand his english waaaaaay more than like 80% of jrockers. And out of all the indie visual bands? I'd say hes doing really well. No offence to all the english speakers..but English is hard. Especially if you don't have someone to tell you how to pronounce it. Cause sometimes just reading the word..its ...like HOW THE HELL AM I SUPPOSED TO SAY THAT? I mean it would never occur to a Native English speaker that say "through" is somehow weird. But to a foreigner its like..."ttro-uu-oh-guh"...IT LOOKS LIKE THAT. But no one says it like that...So I dunno. Kyo tho is from his own planet..I suspect he is speaking his alien tongue to us and not english...I can't understand his Japanese at times either..so :T
