Ro plz got a reaction from nullmoon in Dir en grey
    This. So much.
I think a lot of this supposed "rivalry" or bashing stems from people's distaste in STU, hell even possibly Rinkaku and The Unraveling. Its pretty much just spite. And its not as if we didn't know that DIR EN GREY was going to take it down a notch. Kaoru specifically stated MULTIPLE times that their newer releases are going to be simple and quite honestly, its understandable. They successfully progressed substantially after the Marrow of a bone to Dum Spiro Spero. That takes a lot, especially having to deal with 7 strings vs 6 strings and fairly complex song structures. To want to tone down, while still keeping the essence of groups sound for a while is OK. It shows maturity. It shows that they too are human beings who know when to take necessary breaks. There are other bands other than DIR EN GREY that one may listen to at the end of the day if one isn't happy with the direction the band is going in. The end.
This sudden spark of "hate" is what's the popular thing to do. And while Kyo is the front man for Dir en grey, he doesn't even have that much musical say compared to Kaoru or Die. So if anything the comparison music wise vs Sukekiyo makes absolutely no sense...
As far as Shinya goes, he is one of my favorite drummers but its no secret that once the band started treading into more difficult territory, he's flawless in the studio but live, he cannot hold his own for some reason. Kaoru and Die have done a better job being clutch on the areas they may have had issues in, but I consistently notice the same minor screw ups in every single recent live DVD release. I dunno if its him not practicing or what....Chances are, the newer stuff they'll be playing will be better for him.

Seriously, Shinya sucks for 4-5 years now, ever since they started the faster, heavier stuff. And seriously it sounds to me that the people on the Sukekiyo review site shitstorming Dir en grey relentlessly never really listened to something else than Dir en grey, or at least that kind of music. Like "OH WHAT A REVELATION, there are other ways the guitars and drums can be used?"

Why always compare the two? Sukekiyo are Sukekiyo, Deg is Deg. Deg doesn't do technically complex stuff, that's just something to expect from the band. They came out of a very simple form of rock, and they didn't really progress in terms of technique. Like ever. And the most obvious link is Shinya. And even calling Dir en grey out to make a good enough follow-up..like what the fuck? Why should they? This is not some kind of rivalry. People should know good enough that each of the bands have entirely different composers of entirely different musical backgrounds. Nagoya-inspired progressive whatever on one hand, and western-inspired avant garde sludge whatevercore something on the other. (Dir en grey compositions are cheap? Fine. Rammstein are too. Nirvana too, by the way. So what? If you don't like the way Dir en grey is managed musically, guess what. Maybe you should search for another kind of music. And if you like Sukekiyo, surprise! You found it.)

This is just so messed up. Good, ok. Dir en grey "made it", so they're open to this sort of a feel of need to critizise the band to counter the hype around them, whenever there is an opportunity. "Sukekiyo is a good release..oh by the way Dir en grey sucks and DSS was a shitload of fuck..just sayin...". We.get.it. It's like people are relieving their stress from a trauma they got from meeting a furious Dir en grey fanatic.

Ah yeah and to the discussion: nearly every professional drummer on this planet is better than Shinya, and Kyo probably looked for people to fit his sort of style, I don't suspect a technical approach.

EDIT I apologize for that, but.it just had to get out there.

Just wow. I bow my head to all the people involved, just when I thought 9gbo's CALLING couldn't get something to rival it, here comes Immortalis. Calm and refreshing sound, just as you would expect from that kind of collaboration. 9gbo, RES and Dir en grey do have some connecting points anyway. Dunno..9/10 is good I guess.
Though I don't really understand the comparisons to Dir en grey all the time (other than just another opportunity to bash the band). The only Deg-member in it is Kyo, so of course it would sound different. The main influences obviously lie in  RES and 9gbo thrown together in the mulinex. This rivalry thinking is ridiculous. This band is not Dir en grey.

I will say this - in my opinion, this album was better than their last two buts it's nowhere near as perfect as the Avoided Sun (their best album). I loved the Exodus EP and this was a continuation of it but the album as a whole was too long and repetitive. It has an even blend of shouting screaming whatever and singing. It's an album, to me anyway, that I'll probably play more than once. 7/10

Well, only through my 2nd listen so far, but I can say this turned out to be a pretty decent album, as opposed to the dreadfully dull and weak-sounding last two albums (plus EXODUS, let's not talk about that at all). Maybe it's just my perceptions tricking me and the actual music isn't all that different from before, but this new punchy sterile production helps me greatly in listening, unlike the sandpaper sound of the previous release for example (that made everything lose its potential power). It's also nice that there's some variation between songs and more catchy parts, especially when they don't go "full force rawrararrrr" on us. Individual tracks don't stick in my mind just yet, but as I'm progressing through the tracklist there's always something fun to hear, so I'll be returning to this album more than previous ones I think.

This release would've made more sense to release if the world tour was longer as well as if they visited more places. Totally pointless, especially with Beautiful Deformity that just dropped. If this was a tour documentary, this would be okay but this is legit a cry for more money >_> Greedy.

Lol half the time I think some of you people are just programmed to give sad reviews about GazettE's efforts but my say on the album:

FRICK I love it. Toxic was okay. Division was good but frick I love Beautiful Deformity. I feel like they totally stepped up and I love hearing Ruki's voice without so much editing fuuuck.

My favourite off the album would have to be To Dazzling Darkness. I think that song is organized so well and it starts off so beautifully and continues beautifully for the rest of the song. The female harmonies are hypnotizing and the riffs between 2:02 and 2:25 make me so emotional jfc. It's an amazing song.

I also really love CODA and I really wish it wasn't just an outro. It could have been so much more.

    I feel like they really made an effort to go 'back to the basics' because I do hear influences from the past ;w;

    Track by Track soon ^^

Both Sai and Hellion have points that I share with them. There really isn't a track on here that leaves me like, "Holy crap, I really gotta spam the crap out of it" this time around, but this album is a more solid effort than TOXIC and DIVISION. The GazettE is finally over having to need the electronic bleeps and sounds every time something new happens in a song and leave it more to adding a background or just for the intros and outros of a song. MALFORMED BOX has to be the best intro post-DIM yet, and CODA (while it's not an SE) is definitely an amazing album closer and Uruha just nailed that. REDO and LAST HEAVEN are definitely some fresh songs we haven't heard from The GazettE in a while...or ever. REDO has a very nice piano melody towards the intro but I can definitely hear the guitars have a tone reminiscent to STACKED RUBBISH or perhaps their REGRET single. LAST HEAVEN was a definite change of pace, it seems lately we've been hearing The GazettE try to be heavy but here's them trying to go in another direction with the "romantic" acoustic melodies. Tracks 8-12 all feel like they'd be more suited to be played at a live show. TO DAZZLING DARKNESS is Yoin to me but with less of a somber tone. We have some dark melodies going on but the song seems to eventually pick up the pace and change. Absolutely love the transition between To DAZZLING DARKNESS and CODA

I like this album and I don't, it's keeping my attention, but just that. I keep coming back to it but I don't know what about it makes me come back. DEVOURING ONE ANOTHER has to be the one song I truly end up skipping not even halfway through. I'm going to give this a couple more listens throughout this week, maybe when I'm not so preoccupied with college tests but this might end up growing on me soon enough. but right now it's a little like Zess said, "average"

I do love the fact that Reita is AUDIBLE!!! Also, Kai s probably the prominent thing in this album, and by that, I mean that I enjoyed his instrumentation the most, truly some awesome drum lines

Better songs of the crop: REDO, LAST HEAVEN, TO DAZZLING DARKNESS, CODA, INSIDE BEAST

Props to Uruha for having the description of the album nailed. It was pretty much exactly "back to the basics" with a great effort put fourth into it. While Beautiful Deformity is no where close to being as amazing as DIM was, it most def is their most original album since that era. THIS was the album I wanted from them. I love the distinction between both Aoi and Uruha's parts which was very well missed. It sounds like you can tell clearly who wrote what song because it makes such an impact (more so than previous releases). Also, I get the feeling that the band really enjoyed making this album and while it is a back to the basic's album, I did notice that they did their best to add some spice and newness to the songs. INSIDE BEAST as a whole is pretty much a pretty damn good song that packs a lot of punch and is a lot more memorable than DERANGEMENT. Yes, Ill admit that the choruses could have been done better but I feel that the effort and overall song composition overshadows em. This is actually a release I really wouldn't mind putting money towards in the near future. It deserves it honestly. My faith in the band has been restored and they def exceeded my expectations (which were low...especially because of FADELESS).
If you were expecting a brand new album, which is what I feel is the issue with a lot of the above posters...of course you'll be disappointed. However, if you want a refresher of what the band can do with no hold's barred, then this is it. Its similar to Girugamesh's new releases. It's a come back.
Now its totally okay to expect them to actually explore and try new things in future releases.

I'll start by saying that this release actually Rivals Cold Blood (which is what I believe is Sadie's Best album to date). Except for a few songs that I believe the album could do without (i'll get to that shortly), it was actually very enjoyable.

With the exception of The Requiem, I do agree that the first few songs on the album are terrible. I wont even talk about them because they're just THAT bad to the point where Kaoru would shake his head in shame if he even bothered listening to them.

Once we get to Kannou (best song on the album by the way), the album indeed does pick up and progresses from there. A lot of the songs sound like tracks that are pretty Original and Sadie tried their best on and didn't rely too much on their Dir methods, which I really appreciated.

Compared to the Black Diamonds, this is such a step up and it shows that when Sadie wants to, they can def write awesome songs. I will say this though, they suffer the same thing the GazettE and 12012 (UNTIL THE SWAN), suffer from now. They're too comfortable with what they are doing and it does get tiring. Yes, its okay that Dir is a main influence but even Dir got influence from other bands, which is what they should start doing if they want to be taken seriously. But it seems like they're okay with being the shadow of what Dir was back in the day or being a copy band. Hey, its what got them famous to begin with and if thats what they wanna do, then whatevs. We'll still find thing's we like out of what they do anyways.

    I give this a 7.5/10

And while I do agree that Nekk's post to Augie was out of nowhere, I can see why Augie's nonstop high praise of every single release would rub some people the wrong way. There's a fine line between finding high points in a release which is normal and giving what seems like an unnecessary high praise for what everyone with a brain can see is their last few releases which are really...REALLY mediocre at best.

This is by far one of the least fav albums they released. I was worried released those 2 singles especially Eclipse. What's happening to CROSSFAITH is what I feared once they started getting mainstream attention...the music is rapidly becoming lacking. Such a decline from ZION. I am disappointed.
